This. I was alone at home NYE 2013 so I spent the whole evening on MN. I joined the spinoff forum that was created in the aftermath but not sure I ever posted on it.

I remember that! I was in the process of leaving my XH and had NYE home alone. I felt so miserable to have no plans and was enjoying mumsnet then someone switched off posting before midnight! I was so cross

We're usually overseas for Xmas/NY. However, Just chatting with DH who said in addition to 2013 I was definitely at home alone after Xmas in 2009. So could have been NYE 2009! Surely not that long ago?
I'm sticking with 13 into 14.

Whatever did happen with the Moldies? That happened when I very first joined and some people were really pissed off 😂

I remember that NYE. I was bored and doing a bit of browsing and posting and then suddenly no one could post. I thought at the time that MN had been hacked, then the next day it turned out to just have been a case of the staff on duty being overwhelmed.

I can never remember dates.
So NYDay was 13-14?

It must have been 2013 as we've definitely been away every year since then. Until now of course.

I've no idea why I stayed up for it, given I was pregnant with a 6 month old at the time! Possibly because I had 'morning' sickness and spent most of NYE looking / being like this: 🤢🤮

People were very cross that NYE! Then the next day HQ said they had left the work experience girl in charge who got a bit zapp happy

It is all just about when MN came onto your radar, for some of us we had children earlier than the later joiners. I started on here in 2006 when Ds2 was born. It already felt like a group of Mums who knew each other but it was a refreshing sweary change from other parenting forums.

What was Moldies?

It was an exclusive spin off club set up by a MNetter, you had to have a special invitation to join and get passed the velvet ropes.

We liked to blame the new staff member, but really we should blame ourselves.

It was NYE 2013 to start 2014

As part of the aftermath, MNHQ reinstated the (few) funny bingo threads.

They zapped permanently the ones which went too far because things like domestic abuse, homophobia and racism really, really weren't funny.

A handful of loud posters really did go far too far and wouldn't be told.
