Depends on which branch of ALDI you go to as to how efficient they'd be. The friendlier branch would be slow because they'd stop to chat mid-jab. The aggressive branch where they tut if you linger too long by the cheese (that was happening before covid existed) would probably just chuck loaded syringes at shoppers as they scurry past the check out, & hope for the best.

Grin Ours would hold up the queue asking for proof of age before they'd vaccinate anyone!

Take careAcorn we'll still be here when you want to return...!

Iheartmysmart · 30/12/2020 21:45

I’m so sorry for all those who once again have had their children’s education disrupted. It really is beyond shit for you Flowers

Perhaps we should all wear/display a “fuck Boris” something to signal in a small way how fucked off we are with this situation.

@AcornAutumn

Just a heads up, i'm going to try to keep off this thread for a bit

I do feel for you all.

But i have to focus on myself and after 9 months of battling and drinking and eating etc to cope, I am getting my life back on track so there's nothing to be gained from talking about lockdown.

Don't panic if you don't see me, I am on other threads.

Look after yourself @AcornAutumn.

@ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson

I’m hitting the gin. I wouldn’t have had DD if I could have seen this coming. I’m not sure she’ll ever get back to being the happy and focused child she was. If I didn’t have her, this year would have been miserable and boring and lonely, but do-able. With her it’s just impossible.
I feel the same. What lives have I given my two amazing girls? None. They go to school (for however long they’re allowed) and come home. They aren’t allowed to play tag, or hug, or even exchange Christmas cards or notes with their friends. They do Cubs on Zoom sat on mute waiting for their turn to be called to speak.

I tiptoed into their room when Boris cancelled Christmas that night and whispered to them both when they were asleep how sorry I was to have brought them into having to suffer this.

When I was a child the worst I had to suffer was the fashion disasters of the 1980s

MercyBooth · 30/12/2020 22:50

Its understandable @AcornAutumn look after yourself Flowers

@DominaShantotto Two words..............shoulder pads. I hated the bloody things. Luckily they were usually only attached by string or ribbon so could be cut out. We must be roughly the same age. I was born in 73

MercyBooth · 30/12/2020 22:52

Domina Your girls do have something amazing. Their mother.

justasking111 · 30/12/2020 22:59

Maybe they should organise the jabs to take place in pubs, you could have two shots, one in the arm, one down your neck. That would help hospitality. Maybe a scotch egg too.

justasking111 · 30/12/2020 23:02

Or in McDonalds a shot and a happy toy to go home with.

Or in M and S - a free Colin the Caterpillar not just any jab......

Or Waitrose a free coffee with every jab

Or Lush a jab and a bath bomb to enjoy later.

BogRollBOGOF · 30/12/2020 23:05

@MercyBooth

Domina Your girls do have something amazing. Their mother.
This in spades.

A brave mother who fights for them no matter how low she's being kicked. Flowers

Justgivemewine · 30/12/2020 23:18

@AcornAutumn, look after yourself

@MercyBooth, don’t forget those 80,s perms to go with the shoulder pads 😄

@DominaShantotto
It won’t be forever. I have to keep telling myself this but I honestly believe it won’t. Doesn’t always feel like it right now though

MercyBooth · 30/12/2020 23:24

Yep I had the perm too. I remember the pungent smell of the old perm lotions.

Justgivemewine · 30/12/2020 23:28

I can still remember that smell now.

Oh how I loved my perm, such a change from my horrible lank boring straight hair. I used to sit and twirl my curls with my fingers for ages.

justasking111 · 30/12/2020 23:40

Loved my eighties perm, could wash and leave, with two small boys one a baby the other a toddler I did not have time for a hairdryer. Kept it up for two or three years until my hair said enough and boys were at school. Oh the shoulder pads, big earrings, eyeliner all very Dynasty and Dallas. My friend had a gold ingot necklace which I craved. Tight skirts, frilly bits on tops it was so OTT but fun.

MercyBooth · 30/12/2020 23:44

Mars Christmas stockings............with the red netting

justasking111 · 30/12/2020 23:46

ah yes tearing through the netting to get at the goodies yummy

justasking111 · 30/12/2020 23:50

It has kicked of on our local FB page, someone has complained about a neighbour who jets off on her boyfriends private jet to his place a lot. Should she report her. Now many of you will know this celebrity housewife. I happen to know she is working and travelling for business. The FB neighbour wants to know if she can report her. The responses are mixed with well I cannot hug my mum so why can she travel.... usual stuff. I have had a good giggle tonight.

Hang on in there prof. We feel it too. But it's not forever. Things will change Thanks
Justgivemewine · 30/12/2020 23:58

Mmmm mars bars

😆 at your fb page, ours I’d just as —bad— entertaining

Justgivemewine · 30/12/2020 23:59

Eh! Apparently strikeout doesnt work on the iPad

Seriouslymole · 31/12/2020 07:15

Morning lovely people. Another '73 born here too. I never had the perm I'm quite happy to report, but I did have a fringe that made me look quite like Ulysees if anyone remembers that cartoon.

i.pinimg.com/736x/51/0b/bd/510bbd28973a0e6556635d842efc0d96--ulysse--vintage-kids.jpg

I also thought the same thing about my children and would I have had them if I'd known what was going to come BUT this will not, not, not last forever and we will have raised amazing, resilient, questioning people in the fallout. There was a thread on here back along about so many successful people in life having had some sort of adversity that they have had to fight against to come out on top. This, this is our kids' adversity. They will conquer and they will triumph.

BogOff2020 · 31/12/2020 07:19

Name changed but a long time AD.

Stuck at home as DH had to get a test yesterday as he felt awful. Arghhhh I hope it comes through quickly (and negative obviously) as it has stuffed up all my plans.

TabbyStar · 31/12/2020 07:24

I miss my Waitrose free coffee. And complaining that DD was late for her train and having to drive her to the station but being able to pop into Waitrose for the coffee on the way back. Now I can't get the coffee and DD has dropped out of college because she couldn't cope with online learning (possible undiagnosed ADD).

I tried to get a curly perm but my hair was so fine it just dropped straight out again. I hated my hair!

BogOff2020 · 31/12/2020 07:25

I had the typical tight perm in the 80s. Have naturally thin straight hair so it was the only time it ever had much body.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 31/12/2020 07:50

Morning all! Watched the briefing last night and during the press questions Boris and Jonathan Van Tam both agreed that once they see the effect of the vaccination, they wouldn't expect "non pharmaceutical intervention" to last beyond spring and there's no reason hospitality wouldn't be fully open. Van Tam said there are habits such as masks etc that people will choose to continue, but that will be personal choice.
So right now, I'm holding on to that. I've made peace that the next month will be hard. We should start seeing some benefit after that and then....spring!
