@EggNogPegg I may have to do the same if the urge gets strong enough! It’s a 40 min round trip instead of 20 min, but if it saves 20 min of queuing I guess it’s worth it. I don’t get the craving all that often anyway 😋

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 07/01/2021 03:39

@Frownette I think you mean benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), sadly for me it's not that as the Epley manoeuvre has been done many times with no benefit. This is a regular occurrence, I'm waiting to see ENT again as it seems to stem from vestibular migraine and I also have sporadic hemiplegic migraine, I have mild- moderate hearing loss but have avoided aids so far as my brain gets overwhelmed easily and I'm suspected of having Menieres so it's a lot happening together. I'm taking the medication daily but it hits as it sees fit and I find if I rest on the first day, that I can generally move about more normal the day afterwards even if I am veering to the left all the time

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 07/01/2021 03:43

My bit of news to add to the thread, I have lovely new bedding on the bed tonight. White brushed cotton with small silver stars (Asda)

My heating oil has run out tonight so I need to order in the morning, I'm up to date on my washing piles (sorry too exciting for this thread)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/01/2021 06:06

It is dark, I am not designed to get up in the dark!

HelenaJustina · 07/01/2021 06:48

I’ve been up for 30 minutes, though didn’t wake up until my alarm had been going for 10 minutes... I’m so tired.

@Spudlet hang in there. Ignore the curriculum posted online unless you know an activity will work for DS.

If you can get one fine motor skills task done, some reading (you to him counts, audiobooks count) and some maths skills (counting eggs/teaspoons full/grams for baking, counting jumps on the trampoline or cracks in the pavement) then that is enough. And we all need to do ‘it’s enough’ at the moment rather than attempting to do it all. Take care of you too.

DD had a Claire’s Accessories order arrive yesterday (Christmas voucher order). I know have a very sparkly thumb nail as I am allowed nail varnish for school and she is not!

Spudlet · 07/01/2021 07:37

Thank you for your kind words @EggyPegg and @HelenaJustina. I woke up to a lovely email from DS’s class teachers, telling me I’m doing an amazing job and with a plan to support us sans Teams sessions, but with the option to always dip in if we want to. Now I am crying again but in a good way. I’m very hormonal at the moment, poor DH got woken up by me sobbing (I fear when the hormones hit I tend not to stick to a dignified little tear) and thought something awful had happened Blush Then he told me I was too hard on myself, then DS came in, climbed over the end of the bed and dived straight in between us for a group hug 😊 and we had a shadow puppet session as he wanted to learn to make a butterfly (DS’s looked more like a gigantic tarantula which was a bit alarming for an arachnophobia but hey ho 😱). Feeling more optimistic about today already.

We are going to make an astronaut helmet out of one of the Christmas packaging boxes today and I will try and furtle some learning in while he isn’t looking, as their topic for the term is Space.

Frownette · 07/01/2021 11:11

That's good news Spudlet!

We had some family drama last night. Luckily the sun is shining today even there is still some frost on the ground so I sat out for a while.

Squirrel26 · 07/01/2021 12:07

I find it hard enough to focus on Teams (I am in fact currently in a Teams meeting...) If I was 5, no way.

There are several men in high vis lurking about the corridor. Some of them are carrying long copper pipes.

Champagneforeveryone · 07/01/2021 13:03

I imagine it's quite hard to lurk while wearing high viz

Silkiechickscat · 07/01/2021 13:04

Done French and History with DS.

Got e-mail saying buyers have one final repeat query which we already answered mid December so can't exchange.

DS was getting grumpy with home learning looked tired. Supposed to also do computing and geography to be on track but don't rate my chances. Very tired myself and had terrible headache last night, gone now at least.

Having hot dogs for lunch. DS's attendance has been changed from 79% to 97% as they've reclassified him missing lessons as in school and attending.

DH had his alarm go off at 7.30am and he ignored it but it woke cat up who was furious with him. He turned over to sleep on his good ear so couldn't hear a thing but we could hear a very angry cat. She wanted DH cuddles and she refuses to move to DH. She's since had DH cuddles and all is well with Silkiecat now.

Sunbird24 · 07/01/2021 13:08

I am wfh today (sort of) but contemplating a trip out for milk and other essential provisions.
My right big toe hurts, no idea why!

EggNogPegg · 07/01/2021 14:33

I had a good morning at work. I'm sat in my bed, under the covers ready to finish this assignment. But I was very tired so I had had a power nap first. I was woken by the bus going past. I feel better now.

I have both cats on the bed with me and an being treated to the sounds of grooming in stereo.

It is -2 today. DS1 opted to wear shorts abd short sleeves to school today. He runs hot, I didn't fight him, and he wore a coat.

I'm not looking forward to my run today, but I will borrow DS1s technical gloves so hopefully t won't be too bad.

QuestionableMouse · 07/01/2021 15:18

Just had a nap too! I feel a lot better for it - I work up with a bit of a headache (slept funny, my pillows were all lumped up.)

I'm on my lovely gliding chair because I didn't dare go back to bed - I'd probably not want to move again today! My cat has joined me which is nice but she's so warm she's making me feel sleepy again!

EggyPegg · 07/01/2021 15:46

I've finally changed my name back properly rather than sporadically.

Both cats have settled. The DC are home and playing Roblox and listening to music in their respective bedrooms. DH is walking up to the council office to drop off our building regs. We've had a quote come back for the loft. It was about 15k more than we anticipated, but we can see why. We spent a night going round and round, considering moving instead and looking at shiny new builds that would part exchange our house for us. We've now made our peace with the cost and are ready to go ahead.

Sunbird24 · 07/01/2021 15:48

Aw, I wish I had a DCat...

MissConductUS · 07/01/2021 15:52

Good morning lovely people of the thread. Sorry I'm getting on a bit late, it's been one of those mornings here. No naps here, unfortunately.

It was about -2 here this morning too Eggy. I've taken to layering two gloves when it's that cold, a thin tight one or a glove liner then a bigger glove on top and that has really worked well for me.

I had a telemedicine visit with my lovely very pretty and young GP yesterday afternoon to talk about making some changes to my blood pressure medication. We've agreed on the change and she wants me to come in in two weeks for some blood work to check for side effects from the new med. She said that I can get a covid antibody test while I'm in. The video froze halfway through the visit so she called my cell phone mobile to finish it up.

DS just texted me that his haircut has been postponed until Saturday as his stylist isn't in today. I really hope this doesn't become a problem getting it done before his internship starts on Monday.

I am finally making progress with my Etsy shop. Managed to list 8 items today before the boredom took over and sent me running to the fridge.

Spudlet · 07/01/2021 15:58

My little spaceman has had a much better day today. Turns out he really enjoys doing dot-to-dot pictures so will print a few more off - he even held his pencil in a proper grip. Proud of him. I’m absolutely shattered, but proud of him!

Also, this popped up on my Facebook feed this afternoon and made me laugh and laugh, so I thought I’d share Grin

QuestionableMouse · 07/01/2021 16:07

I can't get to my laptop without moving so I'm working on my phone. This assignment really isn't one I'm enjoying and I just want it done now.

Your cats are beautiful @EggyPegg. What's your assignment about?

MissConductUS · 07/01/2021 16:08

Welcome @Kumquatsquash and thanks for sharing your e-commerce news. What type of goods are you selling on Etsy?

Spudlet, that picture is adorable! You should be proud of him. If you need a bit of a break but want to keep him focused on space, there's a good docuseries on Netflix called The Universe with episodes on different space topics.

Our new curtains arrived today. They're to replace ones we bought as a wedding present over 32 years ago

TheresOnlyOneWayOfLife · 07/01/2021 16:42

I've just eaten a shedload of cheese balls

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/01/2021 16:53

@TheresOnlyOneWayOfLife

I've just eaten a shedload of cheese balls
For most of my life when people said 'shedload' I had a mental image of a garden shed full of whatever. So quite a lot but not massively so. Then, sometime in my 40s, I saw a news report of a lorry that had shed its load on a motorway and that's when it suddenly clicked that that's the quantity that people mean by 'shedload'. Not just a small roomful, but so much beer/frozen chickens/tomatoes/whatever that it spreads knee-deep for a wide distance and needs a massive cleanup effort before traffic can get moving again.
