Plans for NYE?

I love NYE, I'm definitely not one of those "go to bed before midnight and forget about it" types. Obviously this year we can't go out or have people over (tier 4) but I'd really love to say a massive ODFOD to 2020 on NYE. What are your at home plans?

Dh and i both work till6. So ill pick up a tesco finest meal deal in Tuesday/Wednesday and have that. Kids can have whatever they want, probably a Chinese

Bloodybridget · 26/12/2020 11:49

DP and I expect to be eating the Christmas lunch we couldn't have yesterday (because I am feeling horrible post chemo) on a Zoom with the friends we would have spent yesterday with, if we hadn't gone from tier 2 to tier 4 (and my chemo hadn't been delayed). I am so longing to feel better and be able to enjoy food!

I'll be completely on my own. DC at their dad's. I'm trying to be big and brave about it...I won't have them new year's Day either Sad.

Zoom call with friends who we have spent 14 of last 16 years NYE with and a supermarket meal dealn

aleC4 · 26/12/2020 11:55

I will be spending it with my support bubble at her house - food, drinks, games etc.
We have three teens between us so the kids will have company too.
I've had to isolate all over Christmas so it's just been me and the kids so I'm determined to have company on New Year's Eve. As we are a support bubble we won't be breaking any rules.

crankysaurus · 26/12/2020 11:55

Honestly, thinking about deferring it till we get back to T1 (have been in T3 for months, expect T4 within weeks). Can't get excited about the new year this year.

MinnieMountain · 26/12/2020 11:57

MIL is coming over for games. We’ll do a remote quiz with other family members. Food will be KFC.

wendz86 · 26/12/2020 12:01

We usually spend it at my parents but will just do the same at home this year with kids . Party food and prosecco for me .

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 26/12/2020 12:06

We normally go to the cinema late afternoon then home for drinks and party food. We shall watch a film at home and still do the rest as normal.

Not big fans of NYE when at home although we had planned to be in New York but thankfully hadn't booked at the point covid hit.

Eggsley · 26/12/2020 12:22

We normally walk to the village pub with our neighbours and the kids, then have a NYD bbq in our neighbour's garden for brunch on NYD. We're T3 this year so no meeting up and no pub. We're thinking of having hot dogs for brunch in the front garden and the neighbours will do the same so we can at least see them! NYE will be snacks, wine, tv, possibly a WhatsApp video call with the neighbours.

Nowaynothappening · 26/12/2020 13:41

We’re going to a local stately home for a walk during the day. Planning on having take away pizza and watching a film in the evening. Letting the DC stay up till midnight if they can hack it, last year DS took himself up to bed at 10:30 Grin.

TrySarahTops · 26/12/2020 13:47

We're playing the board game Taskmaster. Played it a few weeks back and honestly have not laughed so much in ages. It's great fun. Later on, we're having a zoom call with parents and will probably play another game over zoom.

Littlemissnutcracker · 26/12/2020 13:49

No plans as such but there decent fireworks here. Few drinks. Cook steak or something nice.

CremeEggThief · 26/12/2020 13:50

I'm working in the day, so will get home around 6.30.

Then it will be a takeaway and get stoned. If the fireworks are on, I'll watch them, before crashing out for the night.

VioletCharlotte · 26/12/2020 13:54

I feel like a massive kill joy saying this, but I really, really wish people wouldn't let off fireworks on NYE. It's so stressful for animals. I spend the whole evening trying to calm my dog down.

TheCanyon · 26/12/2020 14:07

Jammies and wine at home, same as every year. Just no friends joining us this year.

Howcanwehelp · 26/12/2020 14:09

I've got tickets for a online live performance from the people who do the something wrong plays. It's improv. With audience participation. I'm really missing live theatre and looking forward to it.

nosswith · 26/12/2020 14:13

@VioletCharlotte I agree about fireworks. Save them for Diwali and November 5th only.

Theatre trip cancelled as in tier 4, no idea what will be doing/watching.

Hangingover · 26/12/2020 14:15

Me and DP attending an online sexy party Grin

MotorwayDiva · 26/12/2020 14:20

Got nice food in freezer as I reckon that takeaways will be mega busy. Then just movies and games I guess!

cyclingmad · 26/12/2020 14:35

House party, got my flashing lights ready! Can't wait its going to be epic

Thisisworsethananticpated · 26/12/2020 14:36

Drink
Watch tv 📺
Plus ca change !

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 26/12/2020 14:45

Isn’t the tiers being reviewed on the 30th December?. I’m tier 4 .. hope I don’t drop to tier 3 that means I’ll be working if we get moved down 😫😫
Not a lot otherwise, crap telly as per
I don’t care much for NY , overrated

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 26/12/2020 14:57

Probably spend it in PJs and have either a takeaway or ready meals. It would be nice to watch a movie and stay up until midnight but I'm usually asleep by 10.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 26/12/2020 16:10

Nice ideas thanks! I think we'll make a 2020 out if papier mache and burn it on the bonfire, then hot dogs and games
