Plans for NYE?

I love NYE, I'm definitely not one of those "go to bed before midnight and forget about it" types. Obviously this year we can't go out or have people over (tier 4) but I'd really love to say a massive ODFOD to 2020 on NYE. What are your at home plans?

I normally love nye but I think I’ll go to bed early this year

Serin · 26/12/2020 16:19

As a child I lived in a home with a violent drunken father and NYE was always the worst day of my year.
I was determined to make it fun for my own kids.
We usually meet up with our lovely in laws and do something special, like go to London for the fireworks or book into a hotel in the countryside.
This year it's just us and the 3 adult children, who are all returning to uni/placements in early Jan. (Well that's the current plan, if we are all tier 4 who knows when they will be allowed to travel).
We will probably have a bonfire and a bit of a BBQ. Might get one of them to lead a yoga session 🤩

@HaveANiceFuckingDay

Isn’t the tiers being reviewed on the 30th December?. I’m tier 4 .. hope I don’t drop to tier 3 that means I’ll be working if we get moved down 😫😫 Not a lot otherwise, crap telly as per I don’t care much for NY , overrated
I wouldn’t worry, I think there’s little chance of that happening. They’ve said places are more likely to go up tiers not down. Rates are still going up in tier 4 areas generally so can’t see them relaxing anything.

I haven't even thought about it until now! Maybe get a takeaway

Youngatheart00 · 26/12/2020 16:27

No enthusiasm for NYE this year as a T4 area with super high cases and after a week spent in front of the telly eating I am going to be sick of that by NYE.

Think I might take a bottle of wine up to the bath and chill with an audio book, fresh PJs and if I make it to Midnight for a glass of fizz I’ll do that. Doing dry january so it will be my last chance for a drink!

And I love a New Year’s Day long walk so will get out to the countryside for that. In my younger years I’d be hungover every NYD so I still feel slightly smug when I’m not!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/12/2020 16:32

We're tier 2 and assuming that doesn't change, we are going out to a local Indian restaurant (it's actually on our street and we've lived here 4 years and never used it!) so we (me, dh + 3 kids) will go there for a meal then send the young ones to bed and see the new year In with dd. I'm actually really looking forward to it, We haven't ever gone out for a meal like that as a family and our New Years resolution is to 'do more stuff' so it's a good start!

NameChangeforArmageddon21 · 26/12/2020 18:42

@HaveANiceFuckingDay I really doubt any tiers will be moving down, just more likely more moving up! Numbers still far too high to drop tiers, and they will want to see effects of Christmas before touching them.

hopeishere · 26/12/2020 18:43

I'm going to attempt to make beef Wellington!

I8toys · 26/12/2020 18:45

Tier 2. Outdoor area which we turned into a Christmas Market before christmas - we'll use for new years eve - get mum and dad over with kids, seated with hot water bottles and electric blankets - food and drink.

LawnFever · 26/12/2020 18:46

I’ve booked a live stream comedy night, it was £10 ish and we’re going to watch that and have a nice dinner & a few drinks, thought it’d be more fun than just watching telly for a change Smile

Stompythedinosaur · 26/12/2020 19:23

We're planning a family board game party. We'll have home made pizza and let the dc stay up until midnight

TeenageMutantNinjaCovid · 26/12/2020 19:28

We were due to be in Napa

now camping with the dog

Whattheduck · 26/12/2020 19:29

We’ve ordered a New Year’s Eve sharing platter from a friend who has a restaurant really looking forward to it as his food is amazing. Will have a few drinks and maybe watch a film.I’m not a fan of New Year’s Eve and never go out (unless it’s to someone’s house)

AuntieStella · 26/12/2020 19:31

Maybe go for a walk under the stars

Otherwise slob about at home - perhaps persuading DC to play silly board games (as we do on Christmas Day), otherwise moaning about how crap the telly schedules are this year.

And supporting British producers by drinking Chapeldown fizz (bought earlier in the year, saved for a special occasion)

Holothane · 26/12/2020 19:32

Watching Upstairs and Downstairs, with chocolates.

LuckyAmy1986 · 26/12/2020 19:48

@Hangingover probably being stupid but what does that involve?! If you don’t mind me asking of course.

Allispretty · 26/12/2020 19:53

Watching a movie and eating rubbish food with DP and ds, to be honest we never really do much nye I'm not a fan...might normally go for dinner early on and home for 8ish however that won't happen this year as in tier 3. I am however excited as I can't wait to see the back of this year!

BexR · 26/12/2020 19:59

Indian takeaway. Movie. Champers.

Same as every year since having DC!

Nevertheless I love nye, it always makes me reflect on what's important in life and I love the prospect of a fresh new year.

Be interesting to see how tv covers the midnight countdown it's usually big ben and revellers isnt it.

scentedgeranium · 26/12/2020 20:06

Tier 2, so may have bonkers but fun warming punch early evening in the garden with neighbours if the gales abate. Haven't actually made the plan yet. Waiting for weather forecast. If it's dry we can set up a fire bowl.

WLAH · 26/12/2020 20:10

Its my roundy birthday NYE. Cake at home with dh and kids. Thats bout itHmm

PhylisPrice · 26/12/2020 20:13

I need to know what a sexy party is....

SconNotScone · 26/12/2020 20:17

So glad I’m not the only one curious about the online sex party! @Hangingover you have a few enquiring minds over here!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 26/12/2020 20:19

T4 so sweet FA

Movinghouse2015 · 26/12/2020 20:19
