What are you doing with your Christmas food leftovers?

Turkey or ham sandwiches is probably a given.

Bubble and squeak from the spuds, sprouts and carrots ?

Fried Christmas pudding ?

Toasted stale Christmas cake with butter ?

Brie, camembert and stilton on toast (glass of port optional) ?

Or do just give everything to the dogs, cats and pigs ?

@movingonup20

Christmas cake lasts until Easter if kept in a tub!
Really? That’s nice to know for future reference. It’s never had to last that long here before though 😆😆
WildRosie · 27/12/2020 10:15

I hope everybody's leftovers were good yesterday.

Yesterday’s leftovers were excellent. Tonight we had more leftover turkey in baguettes with home made chips. I added some Brie and cranberry sauce. It was lush! There is a tiny bit of turkey left, we’ll have that with the party food bits tomorrow then it’s all gone and back to normal food.

Cold Turkey and ham tonight with bubble and squeak from the leftover veg. Had enough to freeze some as well. Still got cold Turkey and ham which I will use up or freeze.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/12/2020 19:13

2nd turkey ‘roast’ tonight - warmed up in leftover gravy, added to with rich stock from the carcass. Fresh roast potatoes, carrots and sprouts, plus a few ditto warmed up with leftover stuffing.

Day after tomorrow, turkey stew made with the lovely stock, fresh sage leaves and a stack of veggies.

Rat will be in the freezer.,

WildRosie · 27/12/2020 19:42

Rat in the freezer ? How nice.

I was shopping in Booth's this afternoon. You wouldn't have believed the amount of reduced-price vegetables in there, all with a use-by or sell-by date of today. I'd be naive to think a lot of it wouldn't be wasted. I just hope notSad.

Turkey and ham tangle pie tonight hairy dieters recipe very tasty 😋

dementedpixie · 27/12/2020 19:47

We've had turkey, leek and ham pie and turkey, ham and mushroom pasta.
We may have to use turkey for fajitas tomorrow as there's still lots left

Chimeraforce · 27/12/2020 19:49

Our turkey is still in the freezer. Tier 4 right before Christmas so we had the fresh beef joint instead. Had that 2 days running. Froze the rest of the beef.
No more dinner leftovers but all the cheeses, Crackers and pates will be started tomorrow. Platter day 👍😉with salad. No cooking

Autumnchill · 27/12/2020 19:51

I made this this year from the BBC Good Food magazine. Went down well Boxing Day 😊

DH is eating them because he is a greedy bugger 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

legosnowqueen · 27/12/2020 19:58

Last night I made Delia Smith's creamed turkey en croute - this has been my leftovers Boxing Day supper for many years! Today we're having turkey with salad, & the puppy & the cat have had several portions.

HeronLanyon · 27/12/2020 19:59

I have had so many potato based dishes I may start to sprout !! yesterday’s high spot was fried mashed potatoes with roasts on the side. Lashing of red currant jelly and butter (fruit and protein obvs).

I have two labradors...

Theotherrudolph · 27/12/2020 20:06

One curry, one round of sandwiches and it’s all gone. There might be some fancy cheese in the fridge still, but there’s always some sort of cheese in the fridge, it’ll just get used as normal. I don’t like leftover cooked vegetables, potatoes etc and apart from liking leftover chicken for a curry I prefer just to cook what we will actually eat.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 27/12/2020 20:12

cold buffet plus cheese/biscuits pringles on Boxing day and today I have sliced all the left over meat, and we had some in Brioche rolls, no one was really hungry tbh

the sliced meat will be reheated in gravy whenever we fancy a midweek roast

I have kept some back for a Christmas Pie...if dh can get puff pastry tomorrow I'll make it for supper, or i might make some roughpuff.

chocolates and biscuits will be out till they are gone
cheese stays in the fridge until gone also!
I have not bought nearly so much this year tbh!

LittleLego · 27/12/2020 20:27

@Autumnchill that looks delicious, I'll try and remember that for next year.

We've had totally loaded sandwiches yesterday and today ate bubble and squeak with turkey and ham shredded in served with duck egg. Also froze 3 portions which will be used for fajitas, pie, curry over next few weeks

I made 36 pigs in blankets and all of them were eaten with Xmas dinner (5 adults one DC) devastating

WildRosie · 27/12/2020 20:38

The Labrador. Nature's unstoppable, bottomless waste disposal unit.

How much weight has been gained on these pages since Friday, I wonder ?

Boxing day morning I make a veg soup.
Have it at lunch time with leftover buffet from night before.

OH makes a turkey and ham pie to have with bubble and squeak for boxing day eve meal.

Today cheese and crackers for lunch etc, ploughmans.

CheesePleaseLoueese · 27/12/2020 21:08

Burmese bubble and squeak! 🇲🇲

All leftover veggies have gone in... plus chilli garlic and turmeric.

Gorgeous x

Roystonv · 27/12/2020 21:33

I always make sure to have enough turkey for leftovers and cook ham and beef to eat cold too. I don't cook for days afterwards and family would be furious if they went back to everyday food so soon. Leftovers are the very best.

thebearschairs · 28/12/2020 15:50

How long is cold turkey good for?
Cooked 25th. Ok for curry today ?

HensInTheSkirtingBoard · 28/12/2020 19:43

It'll be fine @thebearschairs. We've just had risotto made with the last of the turkey and no-one's thrown up yet Grin

dementedpixie · 28/12/2020 19:48

We had fajitas with turkey today
Yesterday was pasta with turkey and ham
Boxing day was turkey, leek and ham pie

I don't want to see any more turkey any time soon!

Olivetreekeeper · 28/12/2020 19:55

We had duck so we've had teriyaki duck fried rice and duck ramen made with duck stock from the carcass. Also used sprouts in that last dish. Both tasted great! The left over roasties and parsnips etc have been heated up for a picky lunch, along with coleslaw and the left over salami etc. Stuffing went into homemade sausage rolls. Though I've frozen a bunch as made a huge bowl for some reason so I'll have more sausage rolls at a later date (it's sausage meat, apple, raisin and pecan stuffing). Pretty much used everything up now apart from the cheese which we will just chow through and haven't even touched the Xmas cake...
