What are you doing with your Christmas food leftovers?

Turkey or ham sandwiches is probably a given.

Bubble and squeak from the spuds, sprouts and carrots ?

Fried Christmas pudding ?

Toasted stale Christmas cake with butter ?

Brie, camembert and stilton on toast (glass of port optional) ?

Or do just give everything to the dogs, cats and pigs ?

Just eaten the last little bit of turkey and pigs for lunch today, Boxing day. We never cook huge amounts, just what we eat. Had one potato and a handful of carrots leftover yesterday, that was it...... Got a humungous cheese cake though, ordered it as there was no smaller puddings, and sadly I don't really like it.....also got 5 (!) xmas puddings from hampers, not sure what to do with those. Already had one left over from last year. Got so many hampers this year.

HelenaJustina · 26/12/2020 14:59

Didn’t even start on the cheese yesterday (knew we wouldn’t!) so today’s late lunch was soup, homemade soda bread and a great cheese board. Will hardly have to feed anyone again today.
Leftover turkey, parsnips, stuffing, red cabbage and veggie gratin main are in the fridge. Will reheat and do some carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy for a lovely Sunday lunch tomorrow. Not expecting much left after that.

Turkey sandwiches

Made turkey stock, so will do soup

Planning a turkey and leek pie - anyone got any recipes?

HelenaJustina · 26/12/2020 15:00

We have got 4 boxes of biscuits and lots of chocolates @BigWoollyJumpers I wonder how much of it is because it was easy to buy in supermarkets and they were reliably open/felt fairly safe.

grassisjeweled · 26/12/2020 15:01

Oooh pasties could be good

ArialAnna · 26/12/2020 15:05

For the third year running in our house, most of the leftover turkey is going into Gizzi Erskine's turkey mole enchiladas for tonight - yummy!

Sewsosew · 26/12/2020 15:05

We just have it all again. Reheat turkey in gravy. Reheat potatoes. Cook some veg etc..

Obviously will have some Pakistanis if we ever find out what they are...

SpikeyBaby · 26/12/2020 15:11

Fried up the leftover potatoes and veg into a fab bubble and squeak, and had it with cold turkey, ham and pickles for lunch today. There's still a lot of cold meat left (as we ordered a big turkey originally, expecting more people for lunch) but I will enjoy building a Boxing Day sandwich later tonight.

It's the amount of chocolate, biscuits and cake that will be the issue...we'll be scoffing all that until February at least I reckon!

theThreeofWeevils · 26/12/2020 15:13

Instead of frying leftover Christmas pudding, you might want to make St. Stephen's Day muffins. Strangely, children who won 't eat the pudding have been known to hoover these up.

ProfYaffle · 26/12/2020 15:14

Today is letting everyone pick at the ham and turkey in which ever way they like (I'm not cooking after yesterday's exertions)

We've got a slab of stilton that needs to be used up so will be having turkey, stilton and leek pasta tomorrow.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 26/12/2020 15:15

We're also having xmas lunch 2.0 just reheated with fresh veg. The rest (I always buy a larger than needed turkey) is frozen in portions to be used up in january.

Steadily making my way through the trifle (sounds like I've put on wellies and am wading through it).

MummaBear4321 · 26/12/2020 15:16

We had goose, so a creamy pie tonight with any veg we can bung in from the fridge. Then sandwiches for a few days.

TragedyHands · 26/12/2020 15:16

Bubble and squeak, much better the next day.
Add seasoning and fry, bloody gorgeous.

userxx · 26/12/2020 15:22

Anything smothered in chilli jam.

Roominmyhouse · 26/12/2020 15:22

Purposely made extra to have today! I’ll fry up some of the leftover turkey, stuffing, potatoes, parsnips and carrots. Then cook some more sprouts, pigs in blankets and Yorkies for xmas dinner 2.0. Even got leftover gravy to go with it!

Then tomorrow we’ll have the rest of the turkey in baguettes with salad, coleslaw and home made chips. I may have some Brie and cranberry in mine, DH doesn’t do cheese.

I love leftovers!

TheFluffiestCat · 26/12/2020 15:30

I had a pigs in blankets and stuffing toastie at midnight. Bubble and Squeak tonight. BIL took a plateful home with him. There may be some cheesy leeks left, so I'm thinking of leek, chestnut and sprout pasta tomorrow.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/12/2020 15:33

We’re having a second Christmas dinner tonight, but with mash instead of roast potatoes. We did eat all the pigs in blankets yesterday, so DP is going to head out and see if he can find any more in the shops.

There is so much sweet stuff in this house that my teeth ache just thinking about it.

MotorwayDiva · 26/12/2020 15:33

Second roast dinner today, made fresh rosties though

AriesTheRam · 26/12/2020 15:34

Just here to find out what Pakistanis was an autocorrect fail for

FreeButtonBee · 26/12/2020 15:43

Had the leftover pigs with some ham and chicken as boxing day sandwiches today

Will have a full rerun of Christmas dinner this evening (I made double the roasties specially) with some added broccoli.

The rest of the chicken will be frozen and probably the dauphinois potatoes as I made a bit too much of that. Christmas cake is still perfect and will be eaten all the way through to End of Jan.

jomaIone · 26/12/2020 15:52

We had an epic club Sandwich with turkey, sausage meat, pigs in blankets, bread sauce, cranberry sauce and salad for brunch. Have frozen all the white meat from the turkey for turkey curry and Jamie Oliver's Hodge podge pie over the next week, the brown meat will be used for sandwiches tomorrow. Today I'm making a ham to have with the leftover roast potatoes, veg and gravy. No leftovers go to waste in my house. Still got all the cheese, charcuterie etc to gave. Probably still be in the fridge for Hogmanay.

BigWoollyJumpers · 26/12/2020 15:53

@HelenaJustina

I think that had a LOT to do with it.... fortunately I knew a couple were coming from elderlies, but we also had others from unexpected sources. Thank goodness I didn't buy too much myself.

Chocolates.... OMG, yes we have soooooo many chocolates, will last us until summer. Actually I will have a clear out and see how much I can donate to the food bank, I think they will accept anything that isn't too Xmassy.

pollysproggle · 26/12/2020 15:53

All the leftover meat went outside for the foxes. Everything else was eaten

jomaIone · 26/12/2020 15:54

Oh and tomorrow we will have more ham, with chips and cauli cheese.
