What are you doing with your Christmas food leftovers?

Turkey or ham sandwiches is probably a given.

Bubble and squeak from the spuds, sprouts and carrots ?

Fried Christmas pudding ?

Toasted stale Christmas cake with butter ?

Brie, camembert and stilton on toast (glass of port optional) ?

Or do just give everything to the dogs, cats and pigs ?

Meat to our animals. Only an odd Brussel sprout left and I dislike them the first time round so straight in the bin.

ssd · 26/12/2020 15:58

Well I've had profiteroles for lunch so far...

Justgivemewine · 26/12/2020 16:03

Meat is going in a curry, the amount of roast potatoes and pigs in blankets seems to disappear every time I pass the fridge for some strange reason. No left over veg to worry about, and I’ve just made a massive batch of stock out of the bones so maybe a soup at some point.

Eaten! Had bubble and squeak plus cold meat today, Turkey and ham pie tomorrow, will go from there

AllGongNoDinner · 26/12/2020 16:17

Shoved all mine in a roll (heated up)

delilahbucket · 26/12/2020 16:20

Second Christmas dinner today and enough left for ds when he gets back from his dad's tomorrow for a turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets and gravy sandwich. There will still be turkey and I usually make a curry with it. Didn't cook as much this year as I always go overboard. No Christmas pudding and too full to open the cheeses so they will be eaten probably tomorrow onwards.

WildRosie · 26/12/2020 16:21

Excellent. I only cook for myself so there are never any leftovers. Well, hardly ever.

Me and 3 year old DS had a wee picnic lunch of leftovers on the floor and watched the Karate Kid on channel 5. It was lovely 😊

movingonup20 · 26/12/2020 16:26

Christmas cake lasts until Easter if kept in a tub!

veeeeh · 26/12/2020 16:27

I just throw everything in the blender, meat, veg (except Brussels they taste vile next day) spuds roasts whatever is left. Add an egg and a Tablespoon of flour plus Worcestershire sauce and blend.

Make up patties dust in flour and fry off. Serve with whatever you wish, like garlic mayo, hot sauce whatever. I made 10 of them and they are gone now, and there were only the two of us. Ha ha.

I love the leftovers! Bubble and squeak this morning with pigs in blankets, turkey sandwiches with salad and pickles later, turkey curry to be eaten tomorrow and a pie with the rest that I will make and freeze

Lulu,

That sounds very nice indeed!

SlothWithACloth · 26/12/2020 16:43

We had no leftover veg but plenty of meat so I’m making a Greek salad and couscous to go with everything today.

gingercat02 · 26/12/2020 16:45

Boxing day is all about the cheese and left overs. We just eat it all over the next few days, cold with pickles, coleslaw and chutney or reheated or as a pie or soup. I love Christmas week

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/12/2020 17:16

SO many chocolates gifted to us here. I'm going to freeze some because it helps with self control. Cam just take a couple out of the freezer each evening.

IMNOTSHOUTING · 26/12/2020 17:18

I just keep eating Christmas dinners for lunch and dinner and had a Christmas dinner sandwich for breakfast.

umpteennamechanges · 26/12/2020 17:18

DH had ham and fried eggs for lunch.

I had some snacky oven bits, Pringles and trifle.

Tonight and tomorrow we'll have bubble and squeak, DH will have more ham and leftover beef with it (I'm veggie).

May also have a leftover sandwich and/or Brie and cranberry sauce toasted sandwich.

lynsey91 · 26/12/2020 20:18

No good only cooking enough food for Christmas dinner. You should cook loads more so you can have it as bubble and squeak on Boxing Day.

We have just had ours and it was gorgeous. We both loved it more than our Christmas dinner. We had roast potatoes, yorkies, roast parsnip, brussels, carrots, roast carrots, cauliflower, peas, stuffing and bread sauce. With it we had pickled onions, gherkins, pickled red cabbage, pickled beetroot, branston pickle and mustard pickle

We have also frozen two portions for another time

heathergem · 26/12/2020 20:23

We've just had soup made with stock, leftover veg and chicken. It was lovely.

rollinggreenhills · 26/12/2020 20:43

Some of the turkey has gone in sandwiches, and some of what's left will go in a turkey and ham pie tomorrow. I made Christmas soup today with stock from the carcass, and all the leftover veg and potatoes chopped up, with all the little bits of turkey that fell off when I was dismembering it.

All that's left now are some new potatoes that I will use for potato salad, some red cabbage and a little bit of sage & onion stuffing.

katy1213 · 26/12/2020 20:56

Toasted Christmas cake? And when did Christmas cake ever go stale?

veeeeh · 26/12/2020 21:24

My late and lovely Dad would melt butter in a pan, take a slice of Christmas pud and fry on both sides and then put between two slices of buttered bread. He adored it. Good on him! And bless him too.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/12/2020 21:24

Cold turkey and gammon tonight, another ‘roast’ tomorrow - turkey reheated in gravy, fresh roasties and veg. Shall then strip the turkey, freeze a lot in meal sized packets, make stock from the carcass. We use it all - the gammon keeps for ages anyway - I abhor food waste.

Mulligatawny is a very tasty way to use up a few last bits of turkey.

Grellbunt · 26/12/2020 21:25

What leftovers ? ! Yum
