And how do they compare to previous years?

We're having a lovely lazy day! DS is playing with his toys, I am loving it! Boxing Day is normally spent rushing around seeing family member so I am making the most of a quiet day.

S0CKS · 26/12/2020 09:26

Were having breakfast then were going to catch up on some TV and go for a walk later think ill also have a nap.
Normally I would end up having a wonder round the sales probably and going to see different parts of the family.

jelly79 · 26/12/2020 09:28

Today would normally visiting one side of the family and then the other side visiting us later on.
This year will be me, parents and my kids in my house. Games, toys, pjs and all the food. I catered for 10 and only fed 5 yesterday so have all the turkey and ham to cook up leftover dishes!

Ds building Lego and using his new stuff, I will be reading, eating chocs and drinking fizz and DP will be watching football on tv.
We live on the coast so will head for a nice seafront walk later on and food today is just buffet of left overs from yesterday and a few extra (no effort / no prep bits).
Same as most boxing days to be honest, Christmas Day is always spent with extended family (smaller this year!) and then boxing days is always just us.

FallenSky · 26/12/2020 09:28

Currently all in PJ's, DS playing his new computer game and DD with Lego. Having Christmas dinner take 2 at lunch time, board games and movie in the afternoon then nibbles, drinks and more games this evening. Such a change to our usual boxing day which involves visiting different family members that we didn't see on Christmas day and then a big get together in the evening with friends. I miss seeing everybody but actually quite enjoying this more laid back Christmas.

Liverbird77 · 26/12/2020 09:28

Better than usual.
I've got up early and bathed the kids.
Husband is making bacon butties.
My parents are with us (baby under one, so no rules broken!).
Later we will go to the park by our house and fly my son's new planes.. just hand launched, nothing fancy.
Lunch will be leftovers/pate/cheese board/pickles/all the cake, mince pies and chocolate.
Then the children will play with their other toys. We might have TV on in background or Christmas songs.
Bedtime for two year old is 7. We'll then all play games and have a few drinks. I've been pumping in advance to allow for this!
Then a reasonably early night.
Nothing glam but perfect to me.

roastedpudding · 26/12/2020 09:28

Same as yesterday but with turkey not beef and then a quiet day with just the two of us.

Ragwort · 26/12/2020 09:31

DH & DS playing golf, I am on the sofa with coffee and Mumsnet - perfect! May force myself to go for a walk later. No cooking today - just lots of lovely leftovers and things we didn't even get round to eating yesterday - like a fabulous cheese selection.

Probably play a board game and maybe watch a film later.

Boxing Day is usually very quiet in our household so no different to most years.

ImRealHonest · 26/12/2020 09:31

Gin, watching football, and building lego.

Previous years have been similar, but with no lego. New boyfriend is the Best.

DobbleQueen · 26/12/2020 09:34

Eating leftovers, playing with new toys and tidying up ☺️

movingonup20 · 26/12/2020 09:35

We have dp's dd coming which will be lovely as she's good company and staying until college is back

santasmincepie · 26/12/2020 09:35

Very exciting day here! Well exciting might be a strong word...

DP and DS have finished their self isolation, but I haven't.So DP is going to take DS out for a doorstep visit to grandparents, leaving me alone for a blissful hour or two. Going to watch call the midwife and eat chocolate without being badgered to give some to DS Xmas Smile

CeibaTree · 26/12/2020 09:37

We are planning a lazy day playing with new toys. We might pop out to a playground later. We have a side of salmon to cook later. Not too different from a Boxing Day of previous years apart from we aren’t seeing my aunt and uncle in law which we usually do either on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day - they throw the best drinks parties, but Tier 4 has put a stop to that this year 😭

EggnogAndAMincepie · 26/12/2020 09:38

Going to my Mum and Sister's, going for a walk somewhere and then going back to play games and go in the hot tub. I had to go back to work yesterday so I'll be cracking open my Parma violet gin and drinking today as well

SantaMonicaPier · 26/12/2020 09:43

A walk if we can get motivated! Usually we have MIL here so spend a quiet day in the house. If I can get up in time (unlikely) I will do the Joe Wickes HIIT at 10am

NightOwl19 · 26/12/2020 09:48

Normally I go out with DM for a look round the sales and there's a few I would like to go to this but I'm heavily pregnant and massively over done it yesterday and ended up in so much pain so debaiting being a terrible mother and napping while DD has extra ipad time

megletthesecond · 26/12/2020 09:57

Tidy up and exercise.

Usually I'd be packing to go and see family too.

Mindymomo · 26/12/2020 09:59

Normally my DH and DS1 would be off to football, then we would visit relatives. Got cold turkey and mash potatoes, which my DS’s don’t like, so something out of the freezer for them. Football and racing on tv, I’ve got a few things to watch on my TV, plus a long walk with the dog.

GorgonzolaSouffle · 26/12/2020 10:01

Still in bed

Moaning to my brothers about the fact that half the family completely broke lockdown rules yesterday without telling the other half of the family and are now radio silent on their shenanigans.

🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

maddiemookins16mum · 26/12/2020 10:08

I didn’t even wake up until 8.45am (highly unusual for me, 6.45am is late for me normally).
Tidying up and doing a wash.
Will make Boxing Day bubble and squeek later with poached eggs.
Lazy afternoon with a film (or my DVD of Les Mis staged concert) with a tub of chocolates.
Boxing Day buffet tonight with a Zoom quiz. We usually have friends stay with us but not this year, but it will be huge fun seeing them and their quizzes are infamously fun.
DH is in bed with a coffee and book, MIL is knitting with a brew, DD16 is in the bath. She’s off out for a bike ride to meet a friend in the park (with a flask of hot chocolate).

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 26/12/2020 10:09

I fell on the ice yesterday so just waiting for painkillers to kick in and will take the dog for a hobbly walk.
Then comfy clothes, cheese, chocolate and TV Xmas Smile

Polgara2 · 26/12/2020 10:10

Had a late night yesterday so I'm the only one currently up, I'm still incredibly tired but I can't sleep in no matter what time I go to bed unfortunately. Going for a driveway drop off of presents to the family we normally spend Christmas with soon so everyone better be waking up! Then DH got football this afternoon, not sure what DDs have got planned but I'm gonna slob in front of the tv on catch-up. Then we will have the buffet tea planned for yesterday that nobody felt like eating!

Redcherries · 26/12/2020 10:19

I’m going to go for a walk to the village shop, I’m shielding so don’t get out much at all so I’m quite excited. Then tidy the shocking mess up from yesterday, films, then Boxing Day food, bubble, cold meats, cheese and mashed potatoes, home made pickles. It’s my favourite part of Christmas.

lucysmam · 26/12/2020 10:25

No-one else is up yet so I've taken advantage & had my usual Saturday morning cuppa in silence! There's no noise outside either; just one bird that I can hear but not see to work out what sort it is.

We'll have a chilled day of leftovers (not many, I try to cook just what we'll eat), some party food, & a large selection of cheese/nibbles.

The girls will most likely spend the day between their bedrooms together & down here talking to me. Dd2 has been perfecting a trick from the little magic set I picked up to keep her busy so she'll most likely fascinate me with that a million times Grin.

I might get my crochet out depending how peaceful it actually is!

INeedADayOff · 26/12/2020 10:26

Dh is building his lego technic, I’m eating some breakfast (I’ve literally just crawled out of bed) dc1 is playing on their new PS4 game, dc2 is playing with some new toys.

We have nothing planned, maybe a nice dog walk this pm. Dh asked what shops were open and I said none!!!
