I would say for me soda , can't buy the cheap versions of coke.

Camping ... just why?

I love camping and would happily choose it over a hotel (even a posh one). For me it's about getting back to nature and living the simple life (I think I'm a bit of a hippy at heart).

StopSquirtingBleachOnCaneToads · 26/12/2020 12:03

Home made food is always so much nicer than shop bought pre made stuff. It's not even comparable.

We have a Good Life type situation going on in my home so almost everything we consume is made from scratch on our own land.

I don't give it a shit if it makes me snobby- we eat absolutely gorgeous food that is tailor made exactly how we like it, it costs virtually nothing and we aren't contributing to all the environmental costs that go hand in hand with mass produced food.

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 26/12/2020 12:03

Loo roll - doesn't have to be branded but must be good quality.
Hotels - had too many bads nights in places like Travel Lodge or Premier Inn and now refuse to stay in them. We don't go away too often so don't care about the cost.
Peas - they have to be petit pois or i won't eat them.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2020 12:06

@Tenyearsgone

It's mostly a thread for people to brag about how they can afford 'better' stuff than others.
Possibly but I have standards for things I eat more than things I use eg my skin cares cheap as chips but my hair care isn’t.

The foods good quality but simple & served on wilkos functional range.

Whenever mil says she likes something it’s always from wilko or the poundshop. She said she liked the tea once and asked what it was & I answered Tesco smart price. The cup was put down and not drunk from again.

I used to like camping when the kids were small and found it less stressful than hotels! I often used to lose weight on a camping holiday too (despite eating more unhealthily) which was a mini win!

CookieDoughKid · 26/12/2020 12:08

Handbags (I'm a collector)
Fibres - must be cotton/natural fibres, linen
Watches
Scarves

I'm am accessories personGrin

CookieDoughKid · 26/12/2020 12:09

Hotels. It has to be nicer than my house otherwise what's the point.

Chickychickydodah · 26/12/2020 12:12

Fairy liquid
Pepsi max
Toilet paper

Carpetmoffman · 26/12/2020 12:13

All Meat has to be organic and eggs mustn’t be from chickens fed with soy. Also, I wouldn’t stay In a 4 star hotel anymore while on a holiday. Hmm FYI - I grew up eating 18p “meat paste”on sandwiches and sometimes was too poor to afford to get to school.

SmallChrismas · 26/12/2020 12:19

I will only drink wine out of a wine glass - when I've been peoples houses & they have given me wine in a mug!!!! Sorry it's just a no no

SmallChrismas · 26/12/2020 12:30

I’m like that with water in a mug, it’s not a snobby thing , I just think it tastes funny.

YouokHun · 26/12/2020 12:33

A lot of these comments about having to have particular brands are just about people displaying their aspirations not snobbery. “I only like BMW/Pepsi/Twinings/Andrex/Green & Blacks”. It must be comforting for the marketing think tanks who decide how to sell brands to people.

Toilenstripes · 26/12/2020 12:36

I’m a home decor snob. No hanging pictures too high, no naff wall art with trite sayings (live, love, laugh), no leather sofas, no matching oak or pine “suites” and absolutely no feature walls and/or grey.

SenorFrog · 26/12/2020 12:37

As it turns out, masks, it came as a shock to me that when dh bought me 3, yes 3, sequinned masks, I recoiled.
I have got a single thing in my life with sequins, I sometimes think he doesn't know me at all.

MagicSummer · 26/12/2020 12:38

Business Class Air Travel - for long haul. I will go Economy if it's to Europe. Cannot stand being hemmed in all round and tossed the odd food offering if the flight is more than 3 hours (I think age has something to do with it!).

jay55 · 26/12/2020 12:39

People on this thread who have no idea what snobbery is.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/12/2020 12:44

Butter not 'spread'
Proper bread, not 'plastic' sliced

Baby names 🙈

frogsareflyinginfromthewest · 26/12/2020 12:49

A snob:

a person who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people.

Mine is art. Paintings in particular. Must be original pastel, oil, watercolour etc. No repoductions for me! Luckily charity shops are a gold mineWink

Cam2020 · 26/12/2020 12:52

RoastedPudding, I've got four degrees including a PhD and I hate people who choose to be wilfully ignorant - people who don't think about things, people who don't question anything and people who choose to believe the crap on Twitter and Facebook.

Intelligence isn't a matter of opportunity, it's a matter of attitude and, yes, I really look down on people who choose to be stupid.

I totally agree. You don't need formal education to be well informed and take an interest in the world. It's almost a badge of honour to be (or play) dumb in some circles.

TheoriginalLEM · 26/12/2020 12:52

See - i dont see any of this as snobbery. Misplaced product loyalty in some instances but otherwise i think you get what you pay for

Really dont like Heinz ketchup or baked beans , they are too tangy. Mc vities rich tea? No thankyou, but i dont like the lidl ones either. Tescos own or aldis. Has to be mc vities digestives and only the dark chocolate.

I will drink instant coffee if thats all there is but proper coffee has to be good. Saying that , i bought DP some Jamaican blue mountain coffee from Harrods one year , it was meh (at £25 for 50g i was gutted!).

Who can afford l'occitaine shampoo? AND on a regular basis?? Im a leeetle bit envious.

Maybe my snobbery comes from thinking if something is available in argos its naff? But then i just embrace the naff or go 2nd hand

I love old copies of Dutch interiors in gilt frames. I also love Holbein and Stubbs copies. I wouldn’t want original painting instead because I live a certain style of art.
Mylittleturkeysandwich · 26/12/2020 12:59

Actual Diet Coke.
Pure cotton bed sheets and nightwear.
That's all I think.

Janegrey333 · 26/12/2020 12:59
