I wouldn't look down on you because of that. That would make me a horrible and actually rather weird person. I also wouldn't look down on you if you extolled the virtue of polyblend. Or scratchy thongs.

You do you. :)

Many people on here wouldn't like my alcohol preferences (everything but Strohrum) either.Grin

Nor my car. It's old, beat up and probably smells a little funky but that's due to its previous use.

CanICelebrate · 26/12/2020 16:59

Can I just add, I am only snobby about education in the academic world, not about children as that would be unkind. I still wouldn’t admit it in real life though.

But frog tape? Have never seen nor heard of that. You seem remarkably well informed.

Jennygentle · 26/12/2020 17:01

I’ve seen a million of these threads over the years and they always end up with people being offended and/or getting defensive.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 26/12/2020 17:04

I prefer to use butter over spread. I buy vitalite too, as my eldest can’t have milk.

I prefer fresh coffee to instant, but will drink whatever I’m offered.

Reverse snobbery - our bathroom is old and knackered, so we have to use cheaper loo roll or it refuses to flush.

No, they always end up with people being utter arseholes and being offensive.
cyclingmad · 26/12/2020 17:06

Snobby over poor manners and etiquette esp in social situations.

Snobby over prefering to stay in decent hotels and not hostels like some of my festival friends do (I'm old enough to earn decent amount of money and rather stay in something nice than save money and be in a shared dormitory with shared bathrooms).

Remarkably well informed about frog tape? Grin it’s what people use to create the pattern when painting. It’s not a secret.
thefirstmrsrochester · 26/12/2020 17:09

I don’t think I’m snobby but I can afford better clothing that I used to, shop locally for higher welfare produce, get wine from a decent merchant, and after years of driving old cars to within an inch of their life, I got a Mini Cooper (3 years old) last month which I paid for in full. Very much over and above what I have or what I can buy, I prize my DC’s manners and caring attitudes. That didn’t cost a penny.

Like a template? Interesting.

Janegrey333 · 26/12/2020 17:10

@Toilenstripes

I’m a home decor snob. No hanging pictures too high, no naff wall art with trite sayings (live, love, laugh), no leather sofas, no matching oak or pine “suites” and absolutely no feature walls and/or grey.
Agreed!
peaceanddove · 26/12/2020 17:11

Oh God, just about everything Blush

Goose down duvet + silk pillowcase

Clearly I move in the wrong circles...

Griefmonster · 26/12/2020 17:12

Only organic animal products that I'm eating/drinking. Don't know if it's snobbery as such but a choice I have due to financial resource.

Cam2020 · 26/12/2020 17:12

Anyway, I'm snobby when I see people in flash cars who live in poor accomodation...it just shows me they prioritise looking flash over having something of substance

Yes, definitely. All for show.

Are these things you dislike?
planningaheadtoday · 26/12/2020 17:14

Tea apparently.

I am called the tea snob in our house, which I feel is a little harsh.

I am just very fussy about the type of tea, quality of leaf, pot, tea cup and method.

ViewsAreMine · 26/12/2020 17:15

Low cost Airlines. I refuse to go on EasyJet or RyanAir.

peaceanddove · 26/12/2020 17:16

Sorry, it was badly worded. They're all things I insist on Blush

UncleBunclesHouse · 26/12/2020 17:17

Bedding
Mattress
Hand soap
Shampoo
Tea (good tea bags or loose leaf)
Butter
Cheese
Hot chocolate

hopeishere · 26/12/2020 17:18

People who say Xmas.
People who care about Russel Grouo university (mumsnet is obsessed with this!!).
People who think having books in the house equals intelligence.
People who put their Christmas tree up before second weekend in December.
White Range Rovers.
Poor table manners.
Long varnished pointy nails and loads of rings.

This thread is vile. Christ. I would hate to meet the vast majority of you in rl. Horrible humans.

the80sweregreat · 26/12/2020 17:18

I do like a decent shampoo and been called 'mad' for not just buying normal ones! Mind you I don't spend on other products or make up or spa days or what not so I think some extra on my hair is worth it and it lasts longer too.

I agree.

I try not to judge on possessions...well I do judge actually...I see a mum on the school run who always wears the same old pair of joggers...her kids are always appropriately dressed in nice clothes. I judge her as prioritizing her dcs needs above her own. I manage not to vomit at the sight of her cheap shoes.

Honestly, I had no idea so many vile people walked amongst us judging people who can't afford Egyptian cotton, cashmere jumpers, brand new cars and original artwork.

Pathetic.
