I'm off work from today, which I massively appreciate as I have worked in retail. We've done our big Christmas shop. I'm going to make my nut roast and a few other bits. A little bit of cleaning then watch Christmas films and start a new box set. I had a really busy day yesterday and weeks in general with work and Christmas prep. So massively ready for a rest! I always enjoy the what are you up to chat so thought I'd start one today.

I am enjoying Radio 2 with my coffee in the calm before the storm.
I'm off to the supermarket then this afternoon will prepare a lasagne for tomorrow, and hopefully some mince pies and get most of my ribboning done. Parcels are wrapped but piled in boxes in aptly named box room. They now need the ribbons. Which will begin beautifully and then end up with me hurling a bow in the general direction!
Happy Christmas!

Working from home today so that’s my day plans sorted!

DP gets home this evening so I’m going to finally get round to putting the tree up - never really got round to it then wasn’t going to bother as was going to go elsewhere for Christmas. Now that’s not happening I’m going to go overdrive on the festive cheer! House is an absolute shit tip so will probably try to put it in some semblance of order.

Wasn’t going to take tomorrow off but I think I will now - massively Done with work and I could do with an extra lie in and chance to chill out!

PhylisPrice · 23/12/2020 08:21

Ah lovely, enjoy your rest! I am delivering presents, picking up the turkey, need a few bits from the local shop as already done the big shop, building an electric scooter ready to charge and a balance bike, making a pavlova, sticky toffee pudding, sausage rolls and mince pie! Phew! The husband will help and stepchild is at their mums and our little one has his last afternoon in nursery so we should be able to crack on quite well 😊

Oh balls and I need to deliver cards to the neighbours - must not forget! That can be my lunchtime exercise.

SausageRoll2020 · 23/12/2020 08:23

Technically WFH but not expecting much to be happening so will mostly be monitoring emails whilst watching Christmas films. (It's been a busy year so I'm not going to begrudge myself a few easy days).

I might go for a swim at lunchtime, as it may be my last chance for a while if we do head into T4.

Courgette pasta bake for tea and we'll then probably watch the Motherland Christmas special this evening.

Howmanysleepsnow · 23/12/2020 08:24

I have to collect the last couple of presents, and tidy the house. DC are repairing paper chains that were damaged by abseiling elves (!) and wrapping the last couple of presents to DH.
Then I’m thinking a Christmas movie snuggled under a blanket and an early evening walk around the lights.
After dc are in bed I’ll open the Bailey’s while I wrap Santa presents (I’m halfway done so far)

I'm taking my mum for her Covid jab!

Clawdy · 23/12/2020 08:25

Tesco shopping trip, then present wrapping, then clearing out spare bedroom for DS coming to stay tomorrow night. Think in some European countries today is known as Little Christmas Eve!

Backbee · 23/12/2020 08:26

Sounds like a lovely plan OP. Much the same here, although I've been very fortunate to already have had a few days off of work, so used them to get the shopping etc done. Going to clean the house this afternoon to some Christmas music and then relax with some films when DS is in bed. This morning going for a walk as not to break his routine too much and hopefully wear him out a bit! Hope everyone has a lovely day.

ExplodingCarrots · 23/12/2020 08:26

Merry Xmas Eve Eve . Today's plan is give the fridge a clean and sort before Tesco delivery at 10. Then I'm picking up the turkey . The rest of the day will be spent changing the bedding, general clean around and then giving our neighbours their treat boxes (always much anticipated and loved) .

Dh has just woken everyone and I'm about to have coffee to help me be alert enough to get him and dd packed up and off to see DMIL (2.5 hr drive for short lunch, then home again). Only chance for them to do it.

I'm working for the day, but only have 1 job that NEEDS to be done (and that depends on someone else sending me a document during the day). So I intend cleaning the office space while I wait, and get a pod of tithed things done while Dh/dd are out.

Shopping all done so I need to properly squirrel things away in a way we can find them.

Last wrapping (Dh present mainly).

Clean out the fire properly and refill log box.

Mop kitchen.

Change our sheets.

Put out bins.

Do some yoga, before I seize up.

Make flower arrangements.

Tidy up spare bedroom.

If the doc comes in, I can switch off computer and put up my sewing machine to finish off a couple of projects.

End the day with cooking dinner for 2 hungry (and probably grumpy) people when they get home.

WFH - 3 teams meetings......

badlydrawnbear · 23/12/2020 08:31

Helping DC wrap their gifts for each other and DH, tidying up, watching DC's show plays online, trying to entertain bored DC who are stuck in the house self-isolating from covid contact at school, working a night shift tonight. DH is going to Sainsburys. He said he was going early, but is still in bed.

AlexaPlayWhiteNoise · 23/12/2020 08:34

Just completed the festive food shop. Going to try and have a nap while DS watches TV. Got to go buy a shower cap but I reckon the pharmacy over the road will have one. I might make and freeze the soups. I was going to do it tomorrow. Deliver a couple of cards locally on foot. Clean up! 🎅⛄🎄🦌🛷🌟❤️

Chemenger · 23/12/2020 08:36

Waiting for Dynorod to come and unblock our drains. We have drains on either side of the house, last Christmas Eve the right hand side blocked on the 22nd of December, this year it’s the left hand side’s turn. Nowhere near as bad because this side has no toilets. Every year something breaks at Christmas, two years ago it was the heating. Three years ago it was the oven. So far this year it’s the bathroom fan, the coffee maker and the drains.

vintageyoda · 23/12/2020 08:37

I did have a schedule to follow but have ended up spending the night in the local hospital with my DS who is to have his appendix removed this morning. Hmm He's alright though, which is all that matters really. With a bit of luck he'll be discharged and home by tomorrow and I can crack on with the Christmas prep then.

Hathertonhariden · 23/12/2020 08:37

Supporting my DM at a distance. DF died in the summer and today would have been his birthday. DM doesn't want to risk leaving her house so its going to be a tough xmas

Upupupintheair · 23/12/2020 08:37

Stuck in bed or on the sofa with Covid ☹️

Clawdy · 23/12/2020 08:37

It's called Little Christmas Eve in Norway, just checked!

Bluewavescrashing · 23/12/2020 08:38

Having a covid test 😣

MysweetAudrina · 23/12/2020 08:39

Finished work yesterday and so looking forward to shutting down the laptop for the next week or so.

Got up at 7am to do my morning yoga class and have a hair appt for 9.30am. Then off to the shops to stock up for the next few days. Big clean of upstairs in the afternoon and hopefully a few hours to relax in the evening.

PandemicPavolova · 23/12/2020 08:41

Make sausage rolls

eaglejulesk · 23/12/2020 08:44

I've spent most of the day at home with a cold, and waiting for my covid test result! I'm in NZ so not surprisingly it was negative. However I've missed two mornings at work in my temp job - and it's the first job I've had where I was disappointed not to be able to go to work. So much housework to catch up on tomorrow .......
