I'm off work from today, which I massively appreciate as I have worked in retail. We've done our big Christmas shop. I'm going to make my nut roast and a few other bits. A little bit of cleaning then watch Christmas films and start a new box set. I had a really busy day yesterday and weeks in general with work and Christmas prep. So massively ready for a rest! I always enjoy the what are you up to chat so thought I'd start one today.

It's Christmas Eve eve!
We're not up to much, started festive eating a few days ago as we suddenly had it all to ourseves, but today we're taking a break from that. I'm pottering with my little hobbies.

Working until 2 (honest) then taking DD and her BF snow tubing in the rain for her bday. Dropping Dmums xmas card off and speaking to her through the window on the way home .
Will get a takeaway ( her choice) this evening. Think sil is coming over to do a socially distant present swap too

Ooh yes also love the name little Christmas eve. If possible I try to take today off so then Christmas eve isn't too hectic!

Dh has been baking for England so there are delicious smells coming from the kitchen.
Popped over to drop presents to my mum this morning and had a rebellious coffee in the porch with her sitting socially distanced in the kitchen (tier 3) - she was a bit teary so I feel sadder now than if we hadn't gone at all. Planning an afternoon of film watching and chocolate eating as well as some bits of wrapping of my last-minute random purchases (I do it every year. Why is a baby Yoda and a game called Unstable Unicorns on December 23rd a good idea? Why? £50 extra down the pan...)

Just got back into bed because I'm cold! In a minute I'll get up and have a tidy round and sort out the front room which dd2 has taken over and wrecked. Food shopping is mostly done, in the queue for an Amazon prime now slot for the last odds and sods as I really don't want to go to the supermarket. But if I have to then I'll go later tonight and hope for the best.

After all that it's a cosy evening with Christmas films (again!) and we'll start on the Christmas goodies.

My son is trying to eat the gingerbread decorations he thinks I can't hear him sneaking into the kitchen 😃 I'll leave him to it

Trying to finish off work but dicking around here instead because I've been staying up too late drinking wine like a teenager and I can't be arsed to work.

Lay on the sofa bed with dd(4)
Watching crap, eating crap and trying to keep warm as the boiler has chosen this week to pack up. Very snug in fleecy nightwear and an electric blanket!

I didn't manage to do the squirrelling away I wanted, nor yoga, nor tidying spare room. Or any sewing.

But I did manage most of the other things on the list I put up here, and also cleaned out the cutlery drawer (very badly needed).

I hadn't written down putting away my clothes from the hot press. And baking, and icing the (previously baked) Christmas cake.

But tomorrow is another day, and I am about to turn off my work computer now for the Christmas break, so that IS a successful day!!

Cleaned the house, did a few laundry loads and put up a few more decorations. It's now looking really clean, tidy and Christmassy everywhere. Went for a walk with DC in the dark, looking at all the houses and gardens strung with lights. Came home and had cocktails by log fire and watched a 'live' gig DH had bought tickets for which ended up being online instead. It was great. Lovely day.

I am so close to finishing the crochet mantis for dd2 - 2 legs to go then stitch them on, which won't take long! I might have to give up until tomorrow and hope she's maybe less superglued to me then though, my eyes are tired & all the stop-starting with it has done my head in a bit.

We had a fabulous day - had a hospital appointment for ds1 and he got fancy new hearing aids. They connect to his phone and the sound is so much clearer. Look really smart too. It’s an early Christmas present. Other than that not much but we are in tier 4

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2020 23:55

Some house stuff.
Steamed my downstairs floors, emptied my washing basket and put it all away, changed the bedding (no idea why I did this, I do it on sundays but somehow felt I ought to do it Confused ), wrapped a few presents, did some shopping and dropped it off to an isolating relative, prepared some canapés for tomorrow evening, made millionaire shortbread, took the dc for a walk and then collapsed in front of the fire!

Merry Christmas all 🎄

I'm finally off work, although I haven't exactly been caning it these last few days, work has been quiet thankfully.

Got the turkey, hoping it'll turn out OK. Have to get the cheesecake from the deli tomorrow for dessert 🍰
