Nay. A red cross was painted on a door to indicate the household had the plague. Perhaps in modern times they've all got covid. It must be a pain in the arse for Postmen/women.

We saw our first one in the wild yesterday and DS's first thought was for the postie He is definitely his father's son. Former postie DH would have moaned like buggery about it if it had been a thing in his day.

The only way they are at all acceptable is if they are off-centre so that they don't cover the letterbox at all. Don't kid yourself that they don't cause problems for deliveries if they cover the letterbox.

Personally think they look ridiculous on your average terraced front door.

But as long as it's placed considerately (fir the postie) then people can be as tacky as they like on their own homes!! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm getting a new front door. I REALKY like the design of the ones with the letter box right at the bottom.
