I read this, and also that they are not planning vehicle stops and door-to-door visits.
As Jacob Rees-Mogg said, before he became an Arm of the Executive, "an Englishman's home is his castle"...
Charles Walker (who I like, even though he's a Tory) has been speaking again today. Said he believed the government had planned to take this decision already mid-week but didn't want to take it to a vote in the House. Also said that he was appalled by the treatment of peaceful protestors and said that Matt Hancock should be offering his resignation and the PM should accept it.
The irony is that I bet that the likes of BoJo and Rees Mogg would be right in with this "Covid Recovery Group" if they were not, uhm, the government. I don't know that Johnson actually believes in anything that he's doing, which must actually make it harder for him!! Mind you, I'm not convinced that he believes in anything, full stop. Gove, OTOH, is like one of those Shakespearean characters who have too much ambition. And Matt Hancock is, to use my DH's favourite expression, "a jobsworth".
