Is there anyone that’s HASN'T got matching family pjs?

I think it’s cute just wondering if there’s anyone left out there that doesn’t lol.

Nope.

Not my taste.

I think it is a waste (to me) to buy Christmas themed clothes, especially for children. I don't mind getting them second hand or passed on but resent paying full clothing price for them. And they are always overpriced!

Surely you would have to buy the adults a new pair every year as well. Unless you bought every size from (youngest child age) to adult size so that the DC can wear the appropriate matching pair every year and then WTF Confused if you waited until the next year when you'd have to buy new for DC, they wouldn't have the same design. So you either end up with 15 pairs of identical children's pyjamas to store forever or endless pairs of adult pjs in various Christmas themes. My cupboards would get full up!

I do not really get it and all I see is reasons not to do it. If it makes you happy then have fun, but def don't do it just because you think everyone is!

Things we do;

Christmas eve boxes, only if we haven't got any other plans that day and are staying at home, gives the dc something to do, colouring/crafts/xmas films/xmas books while I'm cooking and cleaning.

Christmas bedding, a Christmas duvet cover gets used every year and lasts for years.

Things we don't do;

Elf on the shelf, I've never started this. Partly because when it started getting popular I was working evening shifts and didn't get home till midnight or after and the last thing I wanted to do after finishing work was moving a fucking elf.

Matching PJ's, I don't do social media anymore and most of this trend is just to post on insta, fb etc.
And like a pp has said, children grow. To have matching sets means buying new every year! I'd rather spend the money on something else!

frolicmum · 07/12/2020 20:58

We don't! I do think it's cute but we're just not organised enough

Fuck no, total cringe.

PTW1234 · 07/12/2020 20:59

I am shit mum! We just do Christmas Day. We have an elf but he sits on the tree reminding me of my failings Grin

DS is an only child so gets plenty for Christmas Day, mostly I think people do some of this stuff for social media bragging

MrsHugsxx · 07/12/2020 21:01

We did last year. This year we've all got new pjs for xmas eve but I've not bothered to find matching.

maureenfrombarnsley · 07/12/2020 21:01

I do like the idea but it's a lot of effort to get all the same, in the right size, without spending a bomb, when they're only going to get used for 1 crimbo (kids would outgrow theirs).
So no it's not just you!

emeraldcity2000 · 07/12/2020 21:03

Just got for the first time this year. I am beyond excited. Dh not so much. Suspect he may refuse them 😂

tenlittlecygnets · 07/12/2020 21:04

Us. They're naff.

kowari · 07/12/2020 21:08

They have kids sizes to 16 though Confused

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 07/12/2020 21:08

I know one family who does it & the dad always looks so pained in their social media pics. The kids obviously love it though so nice that he puts up with it for them.

I think ‘cute’ = cringey / twee most of the time anyway.

zigaziga · 07/12/2020 21:10

Nope.

I hate the waste of it and the naffness but I don’t think it is quite as bad as “mummy and daughter twinning” which is just too awful for words.

HeadNorth · 07/12/2020 21:10

Definitely not - DH & I don't wear jammies. I have a feminist Xmas sweatshirt, DH would never wear a Xmas jumper. The children have xmas jumpers, but they have had them since mid/late teens & they come out once a year - if they feel like it.

meow1989 · 07/12/2020 21:21

We've got some this year, lidl had them for all 3 of us for under £30 otherwise wouldn't have done so (but would have wanted to!). Ds is 2 and a half and I imagine will be delighted.

Now if I was really clever I could maybe buy the next size up for him for next year...

callistography · 07/12/2020 21:25

Nope. We don't. Never will as I really don't like it.

MsJuniper · 07/12/2020 21:25

I got the DC (7 & 2) matching pyjamas last year on a whim and they were delighted. Wore them throughout Dec/Jan and they are big enough for this year too so DS started wearing his in November.

I would like some nice pyjamas for Christmas morning as I usually just wear a vest top and it is nice to have a family photo (for us not for Instagram). Not sure I would want the same as DC but maybe I'll have a look for something festive.

Mistymonday · 07/12/2020 21:30

Nope! WTF? Never heard of that...

Comefromaway · 07/12/2020 21:32

I’m the only one who wears pyjamas in our house.

justanotherneighinparadise · 07/12/2020 21:32

Nope

NotABridezillaToBe · 07/12/2020 21:33

No but I don’t do social media either and I gather that’s the main purpose of such activities.

megletthesecond · 07/12/2020 21:34

We don't.

irregularegular · 07/12/2020 21:35

No way I'd do it for the 4 of us. But a couple of years ago I bought matching PJs for my daughter and three girl cousins who all stayed here. Age 2-16. That was super cute! It was the last year I could buy children's PJs for my daughter though so probably won't happen again.

LarryUnderwood · 07/12/2020 21:36

I had no idea this was a thing real people actually did. I thought it was just instagrammers.

ethelredonagoodday · 07/12/2020 21:38

Absolutely not.

itbemay1 · 07/12/2020 21:43

Us! Never have and never will.. sorry just not for us.
