No. They were eaten a day after they hit the kitchen cupboard. I knew I shouldn't have, but they were nice.. well the ones I managed to get my hands on were.
There are some very greedy people in my house

I thought this was going to be another thread about the contents. I bought and wrapped myself a lovely box of chocolates for my Christmas and I’m very pleased I haven’t given in and eaten them yet. I did eat 3 boxes of mince pies though. Oh, well, Christmas is only once a year.

We ate the puff pastry mince pies yesterday. I had forgotten about the shortcrust ones until I went in the cupboard for something else...mmm mmm.

I ate 2 selection boxes that I'd bought for my nephews. I couldn't resist.
(so that's 12 bars of chocolate) I've ate in one day. #HungryHorace.

But the mince pies bought at this time of year are just quality control, seeing which shops sell the nicest ones so you can get some more for Christmas.

A lot of the time, the best before date is before Christmas anyway. You aren't expected to save them until Christmas. This year's been bad enough without having to eat out of date substandard mince pies at Christmas.

On the other hand, Roses are a trick and you fell for it OP. They start selling the huge tubs in September because they know people will eat them all and have to buy more.

And they're even that nice now. We don't buy any of them because despite them all being horrible cheap crappy chocolate, we still manage to eat them all and then get given another tub as a gift at Christmas.

I've eaten the chocolate orange, a box of matchmakers and a tub of dry roasted peanuts. I'm going to have to get someone to hide the Pringles before I eat them as well

I bought a big tin of Quality Street in November for my Christmas stash and had to top it up with a plastic tub the other day. It's been a tough year.

I did have my first mince pie yesterday, but we dont have the tree up

By the 16th November I'd eaten 2 advent calendars.

We’ve gone through a tub of Heroes and a tub of Roses. I think we need to test the Quality Street too. Just so we know which one to get for Christmas.

This is part of the joy of Christmas. I’ve polished off 2 tins of Celebrations so far. Resisting the kids’ Cadbury’s selection boxes (from Grandparents) is killing me but I don’t live in the UK so it would cost me a small fortune to replace them.
