Crumpets. Do any other countries have them ?

I've just bought some for the first time in ages. Somehow, crumpets strike me as a very British thing but I don't know for certain.

Mine were 35p for six from Morrisons. They're nice and thick and less than half the price of Warburton's.

Anyone ever had a buttery? Heart attack on a plate. Might be a Scottish delicacy though.

In North Africa, there is something similar called baghrir. I had it in Moroccan eatery once.

Also, Breton cuisine there are krampouzh, but in all honestly a lot of Breton cooking has Celtic influences, so it is maybe not surprising!

There is only one type of crumpet worth eating and that is Warburtons.....double toasted until crispy with lashings of lurpak!

We always have a packet in, they are a staple in this house!

Lurpak is also my first choice butter. There doesn't seem to be much choice of crumpets though. The supermarkets either sell their own and/or Warburton's. Whatever happened to Sunblest and Mother's Pride ?

@LoveFall

We have them in Canada. I love them toasted with butter and honey.
Butter yes, honey absolutely not

I went to The Pump Room tea room in Bath years ago and had crumpets with honey......amazing!!!

Oh, I've got crumpets in the freezer, I've just got them out to have for breakfast.

Pizza crumpets are the way forward, thin slices of cheese, mini peperami and a cherry tomato.
