My DH is having his company Christmas party over Zoom. They normally use Teams so I had to give him a crash course in Zoom as he's the host/administrator. He had a problem at the start so I had to dash in and sort it out, everyone had already arrived and as I left again I could hear someone say "Was that tech support?". Grin

They're having a mixologist show them how to make cocktails for part of the evening. It's a cocktail bar that has done a pivot during the pandemic and they send out everything that's needed including the glass and a lemon, people only have to provide their own ice. Every time they make a new cocktail DH wanders in to give me a sip. Grin

@Spudlet I think I'm slightly in love with the evil pea (and in awe at your ability in producing it in the first place)

Holothane · 16/12/2020 20:36

Sat in my oodie listening to Christmas advent music, medieval music tomorrow,

EggNogPegg · 16/12/2020 21:38

@Spudlet, I love the Supertato books and your creations are amazing!

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar, tech support made me chuckle.

I'm listening to music via my Amazon account. It just threw this song at me. 12 Days of Christmas has always been my favourite (I especially like the Mickey Mouse version), but this new version is amazing. Gems include "3 dried squid, two coconuts and one minor bird in one papaya tree'. I have downloaded it and added it to a playlist.

Completed my poster presentation via zoom today. It did not go well. I am allowing myself a little respite over Christmas during which I hope to make some mince pies, listen to advent music, read a book and wrap presents whilst drinking cava. Then I must gird my loins to write another 2 assignments.
I am determined to watch a Muppets Christmas Carol whether the dc like it or not......

HelenaJustina · 16/12/2020 23:10

I ticked a single thing from my to-do list at work today. I achieved many other things, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like I have. I may write them on in retrospect as I am actually Quite Busy and Important

soddingkitten · 16/12/2020 23:31

I only finished clearing work emails about 35 minutes ago. 🤯 My brain is fried. Friday (last day in work) cannot come quickly enough. I have a fantasy of me on the sofa in my pyjamas, staring into the middle distance or watching undemanding TV, until tea time on Saturday. Ideally cups of tea and meals will be placed in front of me at intervals. It won’t happen, but I can dream.

We still haven’t started writing our Christmas cards. At what point do you wave the white flag and admit defeat?

There is still time, but don't do it if you aren't moved to. How many do you usually send? Perhaps cutting back a bit would help.

It's -6 here and snowing briskly. The forecast is not 12-16 inches. I think I'll wfh tomorrow.

I just started watching the Netflix docuseries called The Ripper about the Yorkshire Ripper in the 1970s. I don't recall the case but the series looks good so far.

@Spudlet, you are one crafty lady. Those are spectacular. Smile

@Spudlet I love your creations, Evil Pea looks like the type of character I could forgive for his mischievous ways as he is so cute!
I must look up the books as DS would enjoy a character like that.

I was glad to see the back of today. Ex has made a horrible accusation which is completely false but v upsetting and it has shaken me a little tbh. He is relentless in many ways but I'm so much stronger than I was when he became my ex and I fully intend to stand up to him this time.
I hope it's ok to post this as it's not v dull but it's 2.43 am here and I'm awake as DD had a bottle and it's all the news I have.

Frownette · 17/12/2020 02:53

@halfpasteleven oh dear :(
I hope he backs down.
I've not long woken up, COVID test negative. I need a cup of tea.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 17/12/2020 03:02

Sorry to hear that halfpasteleven Hope you can get back to sleep again soon.

Congrats on negative covid test Frownette

Chicken woodchip and sanistiser powder and perch arrived today. DH said when he put the silkies to bed Ruth the brown one was on the perch that's in the coop. DS thinks they will be super happy with another perch.

Still getting electrics finished at old house. Few queries from solicitor re survey. Had sweet and sour chicken for dinner - DH went to the shop to fetch the ingredients but forgot the sweet and sour sauce so went back again. He only had to get two ingredients. Luckily we live next to the shop. The cat got mad with DS for going to the bathroom, he was very happy that she cared.

Frownette · 17/12/2020 03:06

Why was cat mad?! So looks like both you and chickens will have your homes complete soon!

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 17/12/2020 03:09

She was downstairs alone, DS abandoned her to go to the bathroom and that was very selfish of him so she got cross and howled at him.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 17/12/2020 03:30

Cat is howling, 3.30am and where on earth are her staff. Angry

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/12/2020 04:34

It's 5:30 here and I am awake ( why?).
Hopefully my last day at work before the holidays, but you never know.
I wonder if those vegetable books have been translated and if so how...

Frownette · 17/12/2020 04:48

@Prokupatuscrakedatus do the swap around your working times a lot then?

If it's any consolation, I fell asleep really early (maybe 8pm) and then woke up perhaps 3am? No point in trying to get more sleep now!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/12/2020 05:10

@Frownette
No not really. It' s just slightly mad project deadlines.
And work all over basically closes down at christmas even without the plague.

HelenaJustina · 17/12/2020 06:27

It’s Christmas jumper day at work today, plus our two catering staff are making Christmas lunch for over 190 children and adults. Not at all dull, let the chaos commence!

Frownette · 17/12/2020 06:47

@HelenaJustina that'll certainly put you in the festive mood! And you've got time to recover afterwards.

I set off for the shop just now without a mask, which is highly unusual - I was crossing a road and stopped dead as I realised and went back and got it.

I asked the security guard at the supermarket what would happen if people forgot and he said nothing, they'd be let in, which surprised me.

sueelleker · 17/12/2020 07:09

Slept on the sofa last night-one of our dogs had an op to remove a small growth on his back foot yesterday (looked like an extra toe) and I wanted to make sure he didn't chew the dressing off overnight. Sofa is long enough, but a bit narrow; so I'm a bit stiff this morning.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 17/12/2020 08:25

DH spilt a bit when he was making his cocktails last night, now the F and H keys on his keyboard keep sticking. Grin

Frownette · 17/12/2020 08:51

Oh god I remember those days @BlackAmericanoNoSugar. Taking off the key tops (? Are they called?) and trying to gingerly clean the circuit and hoping for the best.

My dull update would be I'm procrastinating before I wash my hair and pack before meeting at 11am.

MissConductUS · 17/12/2020 09:43

Great news on your test @Frownette.

I'm up. We've only gotten 4-5 inches of snow overnight. I thought it would be more by now. It's still very cold and windy. Since running is not an option this morning I'm getting layered up and will use the snowblower out to clear the driveway. It's a small one and not hard to use. It'll have to be done again later, but it doesn't do well in really deep snow, so sometimes it's better to do two passes.

@halfpasteleven, sorry to hear about the false accusation, and yes of course it's fine to post about it. I'm glad to hear that you're not going to let it stand unchallenged.

I'm off into the dark and cold. Send out a search party if I"m not back in an hour or two. Grin

@MissConductUS - I remember when Peter Sutcliffe did his evil acts. I was at school and one of our teachers was from the area he tended to operate in so she was really concerned about the well being of her family and friends. I couldn’t read the reports in the papers when his case went to court was they were so horrific.

Nydj · 17/12/2020 10:44

@halfpasteleven, I’m so sorry that your ex is still managing to make your life difficult.
My 10 am meeting has just started
