Please let it be a white Christmas

I live in Northern Ireland and I’d absolutely love some snow this Christmas, I hate driving in it but I love the look of it and the atmosphere it creates and I think it’d be lovely to end of the year we’ve all had.

Anyone else want it to snow this year?

No. I utterly detest snow and it makes it almost impossible for me to get out. Unfortunately we've had some here overnight, not much but any is too much. Hopefully there won't be much more to come.

susiella · 03/12/2020 11:27

No. Snow is fine on TV, films and Christmas cards. Complete PITA irl

Simplyunacceptable · 03/12/2020 11:30

I don’t mind it when it’s around Christmas time because I’m indoors anyway so it doesn’t inconvenience me. The long white winters of 2009/10/11 were Hellish. I was heavily pregnant then had a baby then a baby and toddler and I couldn’t leave the house. The postal services came to a standstill too, it was an absolute nightmare.

No. It’s very restricting and we’ve had so many restrictions this year. It can snow in January.

I agree with OP, I have always been that rogue adult that loves snow.

Kids love snow, I'd like it to happen for them. It'd top off a shit year nicely.
I have many many pictures of the 2009 snow, that level was unheard of in this area, it was a lovely time for our family.

Oh I loved the winter of 2009 and then again in 2010!

Just love snow at Christmas time Grin, I’m a big kid!

I bloody hate snow. Such a pain in the arse. No one else is our street does any clearing and it looks shit after about an hour.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 03/12/2020 11:50

I'm in NI and always put a bet on a white Christmas. I'd love it!!!

Neeks888 · 03/12/2020 11:51

Let it snow let it snow let it snow Grin

chunkyrun · 03/12/2020 11:52

It's cold and wet though

ExclamationPerfume · 03/12/2020 11:52

Please no. My DD has her long awaited driving test during Christmas week.

Plonque · 03/12/2020 11:57

It was good here in 2010 but nowhere near the level of the previous year ⛄️
I hold 2009 as my benchmark Grin I hope we have it like that again!

curtainsfort · 03/12/2020 12:01

It looks nice but the reality of it is it's very dangerous and increases risk for everyone. Not a fan.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 03/12/2020 12:10

Yup I would live it, but not until the 17th when the kids finish school and I finish work. The school is at the top of a massive hill and walking and driving can be pretty hairy.
Then I need it to all disappear before they go back to school.
Not like we can go anywhere this year so snow would be nice

stayathomer · 03/12/2020 12:13

Sorry, no, mil broke hip in snow, dm broke shoulder in snow and I did ankle in, snow in Feb or march when we can see spring coming might be okay!! But if it does, then enjoy!!

itispersonal · 03/12/2020 12:13

I'd love a white Christmas or just some snow before Christmas Day!

Children have had a rubbish year and snow would be great for them too. Enough to go sledging for a few days would be amazing.

stayathomer · 03/12/2020 12:14

Please no. My DD has her long awaited driving test during Christmas week.
Best of luck, that would be a great Christmas for her!!

ExclamationPerfume · 03/12/2020 12:19

@stayathomer Thank you. That's if it's not cancelled again. We are Tier 3 do they are cancelling some tests to keep the examiners safe. Hers has been cancelled three times already. Flowers

AuntieStella · 03/12/2020 12:20

I'd like a white Christmas, just for the romance of it.

But I think or the sake of humaneness, it has better just be a light dusting that makes everything look magical but doesn't muck up travelling

LeaveMyDamnJam · 03/12/2020 12:24

It’s v bad for the economy so for that reason mine is a big no.

Metallicalover · 03/12/2020 12:30

I can tell your not a community nurse/health care worker/cater working Christmas! Definitely don't want a white Christmas getting my car stuck in the snow!!

Audreyseyebrows · 03/12/2020 12:33

I love snow but I do not love being snowed in at work so no thank you.

helloxhristmas · 03/12/2020 12:34

Yes please, but SE London so will never happen.

AfterSchoolWorry · 03/12/2020 12:36

No. Anything that keeps me trapped in the house a moment longer than necessary can feck off!

SushiGo · 03/12/2020 12:38

I would love it too! Most of us are stuck at home anyway, might as well be beautiful and festive.
