What are your really petty pet hates?

It really annoys me when I'm walking behind someone and you can see flashes of white on the bottom of their shoes where they haven't peeled off the labels. That's the first thing I do when I buy a new pair of shoes, peel off the sole labels!

When people eat satsumas and pick every single tiny bit of pith off. Drives me insane. Just bung a segment or two in your mouth for goodness sake 🤯

I do this, I can't eat the pith, it makes me feel a bit sick but I can't really explain why
Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2020 16:08

Mine is when my neighbour opens the main gates to their drive, drives their car out, pulls up outside, gets out and shuts 1 gate, gets back in car and drives off. They come back, pull up outside, get out, open gate, drive in, get out, shut gate.

They do this whether they are out for 5 minutes or all day, it affects me in absolutely no way but it does annoy me lol

What kind of heathen eats the pith?! Confused Envy

Yeah, I am a bit confused with that petty pet hate TBH.
lollipoprainbow · 01/12/2020 16:24

When people walk really closely behind you but won't overtake !!

NastyBlouse · 01/12/2020 16:24

Tea made in the mug. Drives me bats.
That yummy-nommy ickleboo language on food packaging: 'naughty lashings of our oh-so-wicked chocolatey sauce'
'Dear valued customer' on energy company statements. You know my name, I give you £200 a month.
Dim sum coming in threes when there's two or four people. Yes I know four is unlucky. But still.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 01/12/2020 16:54

@Sparklingbrook I know right? It makes me feel weird when people eat segments without peeling off the pith Grin

Omg I love these threads Grin

Mine is people with tax discs still in their car, it has been SIX YEARS since you needed one!!

SionnachRua · 01/12/2020 17:01

The phrase picky tea. Ditto picky bits.

Accents that insert r sounds where there should be none or drop r also drive me up the wall (non-rhotic? I always confuse rhotic and non-rhotic) Grin

TheSandman · 01/12/2020 17:13

Products that have things like - 'Put me in the fridge', 'try me with ....' Every time my internal monologue yells, "It's a fucking inanimate object! Why are the advertising / packaging people insulting my intelligence infantilising everything!"

It's so patronising.

Then I watch the news and realise 90% of people are morons so maybe it's necessary.

stressfullday · 01/12/2020 17:13

People who sell home made scented play dough for a mini fortune (usually £3-£5 per small pot) often with loads of glitter added.
No thanks I can just make it myself at home from the same ingredients a lot cheaper.

Moonshine160 · 01/12/2020 17:15

Nose whistles.

stressfullday · 01/12/2020 17:15

Lol orange pith is actually very good for you ( even though it doesn't look it)

TiaandTamera · 01/12/2020 17:17

When people shorten certain words - pots instead of potatoes, choc instead of chocolate, hols instead of holidays. I don't know why but it gives me a physical reaction.

Lipz · 01/12/2020 17:20

I've so many that I do my own head in. Currently the thing really bugging me is I can't actually read a thread on here in full because the poster keeps using 'OF' instead of 'HAVE' it's so annoying, I keep shouting HAVE in my head.

Sometimesonly · 01/12/2020 17:22

People who eat on buses.

Rainbowandscarlett · 01/12/2020 17:22

Shortening words/joining them

It’s not chicky nuggies,it’s chicken nuggets

Fugley-fat and ugly

Holibobs-holiday

Etc-drives me round the bend

Being tailgated on my way home.
The road the town is 30 speed limit. As it leaves town it changes to 50... On a steep uphill for a few hundred metres, then flattish for 100m, then uphill again. 200m up the second steep bit is my very sharp, narrow turnoff into an estate. You have to slow quite a bit to make the turn... But the majority of peoe seem very reluctant to let other cars/lorries slow L for this turn. There ar many nea misses with cars on the wrong side of the road etc. It's a well used and signposted turn off. It really annoys me.

Loads of people do that, they've misheard or misinterpreted should've, could've and would've I think and they assume people are saying of rather than 've. It's one thing I don't miss now I've deleted Facebook.

Fruit pots being labelled vegan.
When is fruit ever not vegan???

nosswith · 01/12/2020 17:26

Some would argue my hatred of lateness is petty. I disagree.
