Shock

And no-one ever seems to want to drink the rose water so they might as well spray it!

popshops · 29/11/2020 17:30

And the medical crew and Marshalls except the one running across the track

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 17:31

Yes the medical crews and Marshalls should be on the podium with the Champers. Lewis Hamilton has had plenty.

@popshops

Might not be ...I've clearly had too much.
Lol! I've had a couple of beers but have a nice bottle of white waiting for me, love a few drinks on a Sunday 🥂
popshops · 29/11/2020 17:37

I've been eating my birthday cake and drinking the champagne...well Aldi Prosecco but it's better then rose water Grin

snowstorm2012 · 29/11/2020 17:40

Absolutely! Happy birthday and hope you've had a good weekend 🥂🥂

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 22:39

He's posted from his hospital bed on Instagram and seems really chirpy!

I wonder how he will feel when the shock catches up with him. I think the Instagram posts are probably done for him by somebody else but then I'm a cynical old hag.
popshops · 30/11/2020 03:45

Sorry sparkling, I just saw his video, I thought he'd just posted a text comment. Great to see it.

Rememberallball · 30/11/2020 07:49

@Sparklingbrook

That is a good point *@lyralalala*, I did worry for a moment a few hours ago that someone would arrive to say 'oi!' though...
I finally caught up with the end of the C4 coverage after midnight but, at the start of the thread hadn’t seen any coverage of what went on to unfold (you can than 15 month old twins for keeping me occupied and not having time to be on t’internet 🤣🤣

All I can say is, when I first saw the thread, a spoiler alert would have given more away than just the thread - I was expecting it to be Hamilton and Bottas having a coming together or similar not what it turned out to be and all I can say is bloody hell Roman has used up a few of the other drivers’ 9 lives!!

Elderflower14 · 30/11/2020 09:10

I saw the doctor who pulled him out being interviewed on GMB this morning... Piers was saying if it had happened further from the start it might have been a different story...
They were also discussing the halo and how unpopular they were at the beginning.
David Coulthard was being interviewed... It was also pointed out that Stirling Moss was vehemently against seatbelts when they were first brought in and it would be unthinkable not to have them now...

lyralalala · 30/11/2020 21:32

It is very fortunate it was on the first lap, and early in the lap, as that's why the medical car was close behind him.

They were also discussing the halo and how unpopular they were at the beginning.

The halo is always going to be controversial I think. In this crash it's done a good job, however there are crashes in which it would have caused problems.

Nico Hulkenberg had an issue wriggling out of his car when it was on fire and upside down because the halo impeeded his way. The time in which drivers have to be able to jump clear of the car was increased from 10 to 15 seconds because of the halo so in a fire it can cause issues. A lot of drivers feel it can cause problems in more incidents than in which it will help.

Now Lewis Hamilton has Covid.

OP posts:
popshops · 01/12/2020 13:48

I'm not glad he has Covid but I am glad he's not going to be in the next two races (assuming two week self isolation) as it'll be interesting to see the outcome of a race without him in it.

Be nice to see Bottas Le Clerc (or as I call him "It Is I") or Verstappen get a win!
popshops · 01/12/2020 14:30

Verstappen would be good. I'd really like to see Grosjean back for Abu Dhabi (he wants to race in that one) and somehow get a win - luck seems to be on his side right now.

I can't decide about Bottas. I do think he must be fed up with team orders which I am sure that they have.

Why 'It is I?'

Yes I agree, plus its nice to let someone else have a turn. Grin

Allo Allo

pussycatinboots · 01/12/2020 14:45

Anyone wondering how many of the Mercedes team will be missing due to Lewis testing positive?

lyralalala · 01/12/2020 14:48

My 11-year-old loves Bottas and the other day in a discussion about if you won the title would you bother with the last few races or would you just go on holiday said, “He’d still get the second strategy even if Lewis was on holiday” 😂

popshops · 01/12/2020 14:53

Thanks for the explanation of 'It is I' Grin

On the podium Hamilton and Albon were very close without masks at one point, I remember noticing it at the time and hoping that neither of them had covid so it might not just be Mercedes, they were less than 1/2 metre let alone a metre I think.

Here we go again...

So, for clarification.
Different track, same venue.
Safety car on first lap.
😂
