Tested positive but need to get out, is this okay?

Puffler · 28/11/2020 23:08

I’ve tested positive for Covid-19. I don’t know where I’ve got it from as I’ve followed the rules rigidly. I wonder if one of my children is an asymptotic carrier.

I feel quite rough but I’m not in bed. One thing I always do is a lot of exercise. I walk or run about 8 miles a day and without it my mental health deteriorates rapidly. I paced round and round the house and our tiny garden to do 10k steps today and the thought of trying to do that tomorrow is making me anxious.

If I set the alarm for 6am, do you think it is acceptable to go out for a walk? I live rurally so can take a head torch and go down lanes and tracks where I’m 99% sure I won’t encounter anyone and there is no need for me to touch anything, no gates etc. I will wear a face mask. DH says it is too risky in case I have an accident of some sort (I’m not sure how) or need aid. He thinks that would be putting others in danger. He does agree the chance of seeing anyone is very remote.

What would you do? I have to stay in don’t I?

Oh many many people not reading the thread!

@ILovesPeanuts thank you that link is great! I will do one of those!

@seaurchin2016 If you had my details you’d report me to the police? Please DM me for them. I’d love to know what they say when you phone to tell them you are reporting somebody you don’t know, have never met, who has Covid and hasn’t stepped outside their front door since getting home for being tested but suffered from MH issues and asked if it might be acceptable to g Oh, do leave out the 'mental health' business. You want to do something. You can't, for a bit. That isn't mental health. o out early, was told no, said yes you are right and stayed home.

@exaltedwombat Oh, do leave out the 'mental health' business. You want to do something. You can't, for a bit. That isn't mental health. You must have led such an insular life in a bubble where MH doesn’t exist. Be careful though, comments like that could be extremely damaging to somebody with MH issues. I’m older now, wiser and understand managing MH issues (not just my own) a lot better now. Don’t be an arse by diminishing how people feel and telling them that they don’t have MH issues when you have literally no idea what they have been and are going through.

Another day of isolation done. I’ve not even been out in the garden today. Feeling miserable but know it’s not forever. Have sit myself away with windows wide open for fresh air which helps.

Sorry! Copied and pasted weirdly into the middle of that...

Stay home, others have done it without the benefit of a garden.
You are lucky to feel ok.
The time will pass and your mental health will recover as well.

Glad you are ok (ish) @Puffler. Hope the rest of the time goes as well as it can.

As for all the judgemental *** on here, RTFT. The OP said she wasn’t going to go out, pages ago.

Ginfordinner · 30/11/2020 19:43

I expect the OP will have left this thread by now as too many people haven't bothered to read her update.

ILovesPeanuts · 30/11/2020 19:52

@Puffler glad you like it. Come back and tell me how your calves are the day after! Mine were screaming and I exercise a lot!
Also - added bonus - the up and downstairs trips seem to add to my step count quite well.

Tabsvik79 · 30/11/2020 19:59

I can’t actually believe what I’m reading tbh. I knew common sense was scarce but fml 🤦🏻‍♀️

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 30/11/2020 20:04

I'm a bit 🙄 at all the posters telling someone that's actually tested positive for covid that it's absolutely fine to go out! Ffs!

Purplealienpuke · 30/11/2020 20:05

Wow. You have to ask???
I have rarely left the house since March because I have health issues and covid would probably finish me off.
I don't have the luxury of a garden.
I live alone, lockdown was seriously difficult for me.
Im still not seeing my family because of the risks involved!
I too suffer with depression and anxiety.
But you can't do two weeks WITH a positive test result??
Geez....

islockdownoveryet · 30/11/2020 20:06

Oh good Lord you need to stay in .
I do understand about exercise but you've tested positive stay home under no circumstances do not go out .

JerryGiraffe · 30/11/2020 20:15

You should stay in. Those are the rules and are in place for good reason. It is unlikely you meet someone but you could have an accident, trip, become unwell and need help.
We are in the middle of a global pandemic, thousands have already died. Don't risk making it worse

bigmumsymcgraw · 30/11/2020 20:16

Oh FFS Cant you just rest for a couple of weeks. Me, me, me..... Sometimes you just need to do whats right for people around you.

75daisies · 30/11/2020 20:18

I know it sucks a lot having to stay at home OP. But those morons aside who are so perfect abs never suffer MH issues, us normal folk understand how much this affects you.
Unfortunately this is one of those “deep breath” moments where you have to call on every ounce of energy to do the right thing for YOUR health as well as that of the community.
Sending you lots of (socially distanced) hugs
Flowers

Shewhomustbeobeyed1 · 30/11/2020 20:19

I’m glad you’re okay and that you’ve decided to stay in. Well done Puffler.
For those of you saying to go out - you should be ashamed. It’s only two weeks ffs. The country is in a mess. Pull your heads out....

Vinomummyinlockdown · 30/11/2020 20:25

I read this and think we will NEVER get rid of covid!! Ffs. I’ve been shielding since goddamn MARCH! I’m sure you’ll survive a few days without going out! Rules are there for a reason! Imagine if everyone with covid went out for some bogus reason!?! Get a grip. Mental health.......... I’m a psychologist and I can appreciate mental health “issues” but I am sick of that card being played now. Stay in. Heal and let us ALL get on with life again!

shinynewapple2020 · 30/11/2020 20:25

I think if I was self isolating no symptoms or quarantining I would probably risk doing out for a walk at a quiet time .

But no If tested positive I think you need to stay at home .

nannykatherine · 30/11/2020 20:28

Of course you are the exception to the quarantine rules !!!
There’s always some people who think they are so special the rules don’t apply to them 🤷🏽‍♂️🙄🙄🙄🙄

THEDEACON · 30/11/2020 20:40

Stay in -its the action of a selfish person to break isolation while positive

Yourcatisnotsorry · 30/11/2020 20:50

You probably won’t see anyone at 5am but what if you do. And they catch it. And pass it on to someone vulnerable who dies. You do not NEED to go for a run. Stay at home. Suck it up. It’s very simple.

mountwashmore · 30/11/2020 20:52

What time do your kids get up? Could you head out at 6am (or earlier) but do yoga/hit/just pace up and down/maybe shuttle runs in the garden? That way at least you get the peace and quiet. I know exactly what you mean about a run and for me, hit is the only thing that comes close. Stay in though. And take it easy. Even if you only have it mildly, it's a virus, and exercising heavily while fighting a virus isn't a great idea.

Probably good then that she confirmed over 24 hours ago that she's STAYING IN if you could be bothered to actually read.

It's not difficult people. There is even a handy little button that lets you see all of OP's posts.
But don't let the little matter of reading stop you all from coming in for a kick eh?

1940s · 30/11/2020 21:54

@Puffler

I hate exercise videos or classes. It’s the peace I like and moving forward. I’ve never got on with classes. I don’t mind a bit of outdoor yoga but know come the evening I’ll be obsessing over my step count if it under 10k.
This sounds very obsessive you should speak to your GP
HeyDouglas · 30/11/2020 21:57

Stay in. Yes if you fall and need help infecting ambulance people sounds a nice thing to do

What a pri ....

DelphineWalsh · 30/11/2020 22:05

If you know that you need to not be isolated why would you take the test in the first place?
