Another thousand posts filled and we're ploughing on through another weekend of squelching through parks before we hit the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

The AD chat continues...

Meh who gives a shit anyway
Can't even be bothered to check - highly unlikely to throw any Xmas parties anyway, and everything else from the panto to ice skating has been cancelled anyway. Fuck it. It'll be a shite Xmas, and a shit new year. While the govt forces everyone to cower at home.

My sister just tested positive and she is the most anti govt /conspiracy theorist /anti vaxxer nut job possible (with all affection). Her only update is: like a bad cold. So far had periods that were more painful.

Orangeblossom7777 · 26/11/2020 17:34

It's really hard when you are all cooped up, I find with DH he hides the letters (shielding) and just carries on, won't let me discuss anything (so I come on here) so I do understand in a way although different, even playing music or reading can be a way of escaping in a little way or a bubble bath and glass of wine perhaps. I think it may be a form of denial as his parents are the same- they all cope with things similarly.

MercyBooth · 26/11/2020 17:40

I noticed a lot of read the room type comments under an M&S tweet advertising party food.

I remember saying ppl dont want salt rubbed into the wound reminding them that they cant do what they usually do.

Justgivemewine · 26/11/2020 17:42

@SirSamuelVimes

Bollocks. Tier two, we were tier 1 last time. And now rates are lower than they were. So we've done a month of lockdown, got fewer cases than we used to, but are now hit with stricter rules? Fuck off.
Same here

It’s just more increasing restrictions by stealth.

I’m watching the news at the moment and seriously the guy in the corner of the screen doing the sign language has expressions on his face as if to say “Ican’t believe I’m having to sign this bullshit!”

And if dh asks me one more time which is the quarantine shelf in the freezer , I am going to do my nut and lock him in the fucking freezer. 🤯

Orangeblossom7777 · 26/11/2020 17:44

Quarantine shelf?

TheOrchidKiller · 26/11/2020 17:49

I always liked the bit before Christmas best. The shopping, the carol concerts, meals out, colleagues bringing in food to share. I think it brings on nostalgia from when I was 5 or 6 & Christmas was truely magical.

I'm not religious but I love a carol service & a Salvation Army band by candlelight.

Will miss all that.

Justgivemewine · 26/11/2020 17:52

Oh yes 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ @Orangeblossom7777

Aztectrousers · 26/11/2020 17:54

This is going to sound awful (sorry family) but I’d much rather be allowed a get together with my friends for a good natter, wine and laughs. Them telling us we can meet family etc at Christmas, then no doubt telling us that it’s our own fault when cases go up again just isn’t doing it for me Blush.

AcornAutumn · 26/11/2020 18:01

@MercyBooth

I comfort ate during lockdown. I dont drink or smoke and drugs have never interested me. Might be an idea not to do things and enact rules which affect mental health.
I don’t know if you saw my earlier posts but I’m really battling with this.

I had a reasonable lunch, featuring no mince pies, was not long with mum on the phone because I have nowt to say, now cooking dinner far too early because what else to do?

My sister is really upset. I find odd to try to say “it will get better” because I think it will get worse.

Booze instead of mince pies - fewer calories!

MercyBooth · 26/11/2020 18:06

Me too@AcornAutumn Flowers this is sometimes why i wish i liked to drink wine. Doubt id gain much weight doing that as due to having an overactive bladder it would go right through me.

I think the long term effects of these lockdowns will last far longer than Covid does.

AcornAutumn · 26/11/2020 18:14

Mercy oh yes, the long term effects of lockdown are much worse.

So am I right in thinking that at present, people can travel between tiers at Xmas?

DrDiva · 26/11/2020 18:16

A bath and a glass of wine or six sounds awesome!

The whole covid-is-worse-so-there just makes me think, death by a thousand cuts is still death. Sorry, that’s perhaps a bit bleak!

I hate the long dark nights, usually there would be trips and parties to look forward to. Now I just sit at home and eat mince pies and drink gin.

Dd has come home from school with awful hands, the cold has made her dry skin worse. What ever they are using at school is drying her skin out.

This.

flower could she put that Germolene new skin stuff on those cuts to shield her from it?

In general, could she use a barrier thing on her hands, like runners use for avoiding blisters etc?

MissEWeatherwax · 26/11/2020 18:35

My hands get like that. Make sure she washes all the soap off and dries her hands well and moisturise, moisturise. Also give her a little tub of moisturiser to use as a soap. That was my advice from Dr. Only problem at moment is moisturiser is going to hurt.

MercyBooth · 26/11/2020 18:36

"your tier is not your destiny"

Hes hoping the public will blame each other for any winter spikes.

MissEWeatherwax · 26/11/2020 18:37

Every time I go shopping I buy a brandy butter topped mince pie from a shop called Cooplands. The diet is not going well.

MercyBooth · 26/11/2020 18:38

They havent talked about the changes to support bubbles on the TV news. If it wasnt for the internet i wouldnt know about it.
I wonder how many people who need to know..........dont.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 26/11/2020 18:40

I think I'm going to start referring to this latest government clusterfuck as "Operation Tiers for Fears".

I didn’t know here were changes, oh dear, do I need a brandy?

flower maybe sudocreme as well. Poor girl.

MercyBooth · 26/11/2020 18:49

If you care for someone who is disabled then you can now form a support bubble with another household.

AcornAutumn · 26/11/2020 18:51

Oh I see.

Tbh I would count any visits as care in that situation.
