I’ve just really enjoyed Aldi’s new goats cheese. I love Manchego, Feta, Reed Leicester and so many more

Caws Cenarth cheddar with leeks.

frugalkitty · 21/11/2020 23:02

Pyrenees for me, my DH is trained to buy it in any cheese shop he stumbles upon or when he travels in France. Sadly, lockdown has put paid to that though. I tried it when I went to France for the first time with school when I was about 11, it's creamy and not very strong but I just love it (and the kids know it's mine and not to touch it!)

Pie D’Angloys 🐷

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/11/2020 23:07

Black bomber, red storm and Binham blue. Yum

DennisTMenace · 21/11/2020 23:44

I do love a good reblochon, but it does have that decaying corpse aroma if you don't eat it quickly. I bought some with some other smelly cheeses in a trip to France once and had the builders in the next week. Pretty sure they thought they were complicit in hiding a body in the kitchen, when it was just the pungent wafts from the fridge.

Inextremis · 22/11/2020 00:08

Stinking Bishop - a washed rind cheese that pongs, but is quite mild and creamy, but with a sort of truffle-like (like Brie?) taste.
Epoisses.
Stilton - La Cave á Fromage do one that they soak in port for three days. It's wonderful.

thegcatsmother · 22/11/2020 01:13

A good bitey Montgomery cheddar; Cornish Jack; Stithians; Shropshire Blue; Cornish Brie; Cornish Blue; Bowland.

Doux de Montagne; Roquefort; Comte; Bleu d'Auvergne; Fourme d'Ambert; Reblochon (for making Tartiflette)

Gorgonzola; Parmesan; Dolcelatte; Pecorino; Crema Bel Paese

ChocolateHoneycomb · 22/11/2020 07:47

Extremely mature hard cheeses. Black bomber is a wonder from heaven.

Ginfordinner · 22/11/2020 07:50

I'm glad so many people like Black Bomber. It truly is a wonder from heaven @ChocolateHoneycomb Grin

These are the cheeses I have on order for Christmas (and beyond; they'll last a while!):

  1. Black Bomber;
  2. Red Devil;
  3. Birkdale Cheddar with chilli and lime;
  4. Cornish Yarg;
  5. Windsor Red;
  6. Shropshire Blue;
  7. Garstang Blue;
  8. Blacksticks Blue;
  9. Lancashire;
10. Button Mill Lancashire Brie; and 11. Red Leicester.

I've not had the Windsor Red before, but it was recommended on here, so I'm giving it a go!

I'm spreading my order across a local cheese shop and my Booths Christmas order.

I love cheese!

MaryBoBary · 22/11/2020 08:11

Wensley Dale with cranberries!

userxx · 22/11/2020 08:37

I love cheese!

No shit!! That's some order 🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 22/11/2020 08:46

It's too hard to choose, @userxx, so I just get it all! 🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀

Xmas Grin
ThomasHardyPerennial · 22/11/2020 08:48

Perl Las is my absolute favourite blue cheese, it is delicious. It has been too long since I have had some, I will have to order online for christmas! I also love cambozola.

AriesTheRam · 22/11/2020 08:48

Boursin 😋

PolarnOPirate · 22/11/2020 08:49

Reblochon or raclette! Or I had some "Bath Soft Cheese" from the bath soft cheese co the other day and it was liquid even at fridge temp and just amazing and moreish and divine.

MushMonster · 22/11/2020 08:52

You have lots by now!
Not sure if anyone has mentioned Grana Padano. Aldi sells it grated.
It is a North Italian cheese. And I like it much more than Parmessan.

MushMonster · 22/11/2020 08:56

And Caerphilly cheese?
To me, it does not have much flavour, but if you add it to a pizza or cheese toastie with other cheeses, you end up with a massive string! Which is always luxurious!

pinesofrome · 22/11/2020 09:04

Cambazola and Jarlsberg for me. Just bought DH a cheese advent calendar in Sainsbury's!

OneFootintheRave · 22/11/2020 09:51

Great thread.

A strong flinty cheddar as an everyday cheese.
A mature Stilton as a treat.
There's a great manchego with truffle (I normally hate truffle).

Heyha · 22/11/2020 10:28

@ThomasHardyPerennial I've had Perl Las in a Pong cheese box before, forgot that I liked it til you reminded me then!

Toddlerteaplease · 22/11/2020 10:39

Cheddar obviously! (Actually I love Stilton)

What’s your favourite cheese?
Pieceofpurplesky · 22/11/2020 12:34

I need cheese and wine now!

Black Bomber is fabulous
Somerset Brie
Applebey's Cheshire
Yarg
A good Stilton

And I love the roule one with garlic!

TurquoiseDragon · 22/11/2020 19:37

Just before lockdown, I'd tried Camembert for the first time, baked in the cardboard it cme in. Was lovely, but I didn't get which brand it was. Tried at home with the Aldi one, but that didn't taste the same or anywhere near as good, so any ideas gratefully received on a reasonable one to try again.

Inextremis · 22/11/2020 19:42

@TurquoiseDragon I've found Tesco Finest (not their ordinary) Camembert to be rather good.
