I just spent 20 minutes reading about the history of the metre.

Prompted by a question for DS asking "how do they know how long a metre is?"

I once stumbled across a heavily tattooed woman, who had the whites of her eyes tattooed purple, (she had basically run out of space!), which lead me down a rabbit hole of tattooed eyeballs that can cause blindness, and infections, as its easy to go too deep, and apparently it feels like thousands of shards of glass being scraped across your eye. I began to wonder if these people live on a permanent cocktail of drugs to get by !

Chiropractic adjustments, so satisfying! I became a full on crack addict though so had to wean myself off.

FA deaths.

DS1 was annoyed that DS2 and DH went to the park to play football in torrential rain. He doesn't like football or torrential rain but was miffed that they'd ignored him declining to go and carried on without him, so he settled for chuntering on about how dangerous football is and I came across the wikipedia page about FA deaths.

As much as I hate football, it was an interesting record of social history. The gap at WW2 and football leagues resuming in a NHS system and antibiotics marked a significant reduction in deaths resulting from post-injury infections. H&S has also improved following developments in kit and rules.

I did conclude with DS1 that in the modern world, as long as he doesn't play in lightning or headbutt the clubhouse/ goalposts, that the danger of death is pretty low Wink

More interesting going through those one by one than a squelchy game of football Grin

Japanese women who can use calculators with such a lightning speed and 100% accuracy. As boring as it sounds, I was mesmerised.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 20/11/2020 21:04

Freejinger all about fundamentalist Christians with a bit of reality tv thrown in.
There’s a woman that’s discussed who has 13 children & is a total disaster of a human & mother & I get sucked in every time.

I'm bipolar and spend 90% of my waking time in rabbit holes. Normally we will be watching a documentary and one of us will say something like "I wonder for many sub species of giraffes there are ?". I will google it. Then while reading about giraffes I'll end up looking at an article about guarded in captivity and how zoos have come on but sea world is terrible. I like dolphins. Go on, click on the dolphins link. Find out dolphins have been filmed masturbating with dead fish. Their penis literally inside a dead fish. I had never seen a dolphins penis before. Google unusual animal penis facts. The echidna has a 5 headed penis and it doesn't ejaculate like a man, it oozes. Snakes have a hemipens, in a effect a penis split into two. A Male pigs orgasm lasts for 30-60 minutes. Wait, what the heck is an echidna? Google's. End up buying a pet hedgehog and adopting a wanking dolphin 🐬

All that in the space of 15 minutes. My general knowledge is amazing and I love learning new things.

Pictures of Kylie Jenner. She looks like a million different people! Her photos are all so different! I found an Instagram versus reality type website about her.

I have never watched The Kardasians, I have no idea who this girl is.

Fascinating!

Sparklingbrook · 20/11/2020 21:13

I have discovered an instagram account called 'siblingordating' where you have to guess when seeing a picture.

Also lauren.jumps who picked up a skipping rope in April and is now amazing at skipping.

Happens most days.

Today was that missionary who went to the really hostile island to convert the tribe to Jesus and ended up getting an arrow in the chest for it. His diary entries before he went were something else!

Bloody hell, that's crazy. Thanks for the rabbit hole though. Grin

Mybedislisting · 20/11/2020 21:23

Any cemetery Wikipedia entries are fascinating.
The Hollywood wood forever one and the Victorian ones especially- I read about the cemetery and then the “notable burials” and then like @HotPatootiebootie I read all the interesting links from the people and the interesting links from there

I've just this week come across a Youtuber called Amberlynn Reid who has a weight loss channel, but she's gained 200 lbs since starting it.

Calicomog · 20/11/2020 21:31

Ragen Chastain. And her attempt at Iron man.
Reddit has threads and threads on it.

flissity · 20/11/2020 21:34

Animals that are now extinct or almost/possibly extinct.

Last night - started looking at Big Cat sightings, then ended up on a forum - people chatting about getting Dangerous Wild Animal Licenses so they can keep wild cats. And how a pure bred wild cat like a Savannah cat compares to one that’s been bred down the line with a domestic tabby cat. Blah blah blah...

You've got to admit that the islanders had the right idea about social distancing before any of us ever gave it a moment's thought though, don't you?

After seeing this video a rabbit hole of a similar genre

Housewoes23 · 20/11/2020 21:56

Andrew Gosden and other missing people.

shivermetimbers77 · 20/11/2020 22:00

I got sucked into a YouTube vortex of interviews with Patrick Swayze the other day.
