I went through a phase of having an awful time on my birthday every year, I got dumped, got food poisoning & then the last straw was getting knocked off my bike one year. The next year I decided the safest option would be to book a day's annual leave and stay in bed all day. Stupid cat jumped into bed with me and stuck her claw right in my eyeball which lead to another fun birthday in incredible pain at the eye hospital...

Houserabbit lay on the sofa and watched the family spend an fun afternoon carefully decorating the Christmas tree. Then chewed through the fairy light cable.

I had to spend the next morning dismantling the decorations, driving an hours round trip for new lights (we lived in the middle of nowhere) and then redo it. It was not fun decorating it a second time.

My cat killed a mouse and stashed it away for later - in my handbag.

hopelessbusiness · 20/11/2020 21:25

My dog (basset so in no way agile) used a dining chair to get up on to the table and then had explosive diarrhoea.
He so nearly got himself rehomed after that. Good job I loved him.

Tempusfudgeit · 20/11/2020 21:27

I left my GSD in the cab of a hired van for 10 minutes. She chewed the seats, the seat belt and the steering wheel. Cost me £1000 Shock

cheesesandwhich · 20/11/2020 21:27

We've got a cat and dog.
Dog is a champion destroyer. Seems to like eating just the one shoe out of a pair. Especially if they're new. - grown out of this thankfully.
He ate our sofa when he was a puppy. He wasn't even left alone in the house, we were in another room painting.
Worse thing was probably chewing a massive hole in our newly carpeted stairs. It had been done 24hrs prior 😭
Cat I've had to cancel so many vets appointments last minute which I feel awful about. He's an escape artist or he'll hide under furniture where I can't get to him.
He went through a stage of urinating on the new baby's things 😩 he is spayed and never did this beforehand. Vets suggested anxiety. So pleased that's past us.
do love them though.

CallmeAngelina · 20/11/2020 21:29

As a puppy, he chewed up one of my dad's £££ Wisden cricket books.
Gnawed all the beading on one of the glazed doors in my mum's house.

cormorantes · 20/11/2020 21:35

My Cat climbed out our upstairs window and jumped down heavily onto the glass roof of the neighbours' newly built extension. The neighbour was sitting in there working quietly and the sudden bang nearly gave her a heart attack.

Loveatortie · 20/11/2020 21:36

Could write a book about my cats and dogs exploits over the past 50 years of being trained by them Grin

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/11/2020 21:40

Chewing the post - which happened to contain a cuddly toy I'd bought DS for Christmas 😭

DillonPanthersTexas · 20/11/2020 21:40

I used to have a rugby ball signed by the entire England Rugby World Cup winning team before my border collie ate the whole thing and spent the next week shitting it all over the garden.

When I told my Irish father his response was:

"fair play to the dog"

heuchterteuchter · 20/11/2020 21:47

our dog set fire to the house.
he was on the counter trying to steal food and put the toaster on.

he was very lucky to survive. he's even bloody luckier we kept him!!

Babyroobs · 20/11/2020 21:51

My cocker spaniel has weed on a bed, and killed a couple of birds. My other dog has ( gently ) snatched a finger of kit kat from a toddler on the school run, she is very obsessed with food.

Babyroobs · 20/11/2020 21:53

Cocker spaniel also chewed one of my boots . I replaced the boots with an identical pair and stupidly ( on my part) the dog got hold of the new pair but fortunately chewed the opposite boot so luckily I still had a matching pair !!

Cherrysoup · 20/11/2020 21:57

Gently took a sausage roll out of a little boy’s hand at the park. Mortifying. I had no money to offer the mum.

Brought me a massive pigeon-different park-and dropped it at my feet in front of a horrified dog walker.

Puked up his tea in excitement at my bil arriving and promptly ate it again.

Brought a wild bunny back whilst out with our dog trainer. My dh had to dispatch it as it was beyond saving.

delilabell · 20/11/2020 21:57

Jumped and grabbed my tampon as I took it out of my bits and was holding it by the string 😳

Fullmoonagain · 20/11/2020 22:09

Shat on my work bag, went straight in the bin, gone forever Angry

OneFootintheRave · 20/11/2020 22:17

Ate two legs of lamb resting on the side. He was ill for days, served him right!

Vampire dog

QueenPaws · 20/11/2020 22:22

@cormorantes I saw a post where a horse, yes horse fell through a glass roof Shock they came back from holiday to find the damage

jessstan1 · 20/11/2020 22:27

I had one who brought in a great big, golden coloured fish, half chewed. He's obviously been fishing in someone's pond.

Another one ate a frog, then heaved and brought it up, whole, after which he settled down to eat his cat food.

An elderly cat which we re-homed would become very nervous and twitchy at times; we recognised the signs. However we did not expect him to wee in my husband's overnight bag.

LeahDownTheLane · 20/11/2020 22:30

My dog caught a pigeon in the garden, I saw her running up to the house with knowing she’d want to bring it in I shut the door quick! After five minutes of telling her to go away with it she proceeded to eat the entire thing up against the glass of the patio doors. It was so grim and the most awful thing she’s ever done. You wouldn’t believe it to look at as she’s just so cute and girlie but that was something else.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 20/11/2020 22:42

My 2 husky puppies destroyed a sofa. Got up to find the lounge covered in bits of foam, and shredded material dangling off what remained of the wooden frame.
Dh once bought 2 new pairs of trainers. He left them on the windowsill at the bottom of the stairs. I warned him the dogs could reach them but he didn't listen. Ddog destroyed the right trainer from both pairs.
But beautiful dogs, fantastic personalities & brilliant when we had the dc. Adored them.

Mashingthecompost · 20/11/2020 22:44

I took the protector off the foam mattress to wash it and went out.. One of my greyhounds got in and shredded it. Not all of it... she dug about a bathtub's worth of it out, in size and depth. All on my side. She looooove me? Or maybe she hate me? She was a bit of a Daddy's girl.

Mashingthecompost · 20/11/2020 22:48

Same dog plowed down a 6ft locked solid wooden gate and we have no idea how. Really wish we'd seen her do it. She acted totally normal when we found her with it.
