@halfpasteleven - I did! It's been ages since I had three in a row.

I'm now waiting for the menfolk to make dinner. Smile

@MissConductUS grilled chicken sounds nice. Crack the whip.

I keep getting up to do some work then taking a break and having to find where I've put my coffee

EggyPegg · 30/11/2020 08:03

The Kindle Fire I put on eBay finished at £24 (plus postage) This is very pleasing as I only paid £35 for the newer model in the Black Friday sale. This morning I have packaged it up ready for DH to take to the post office today.

Fascinating to read the definitions of jam Vs marmalade. I like both, bit have a preference for the citrus of marmalade.

soddingkitten · 30/11/2020 08:36

DS2 and I worked out over the weekend how to get Sodding out of his radiator hammock and back on to the sofa with us: the cream throw. It’s our softest wool sofa blanket and it is absolute Sodding kryptonite. Once he’s settled on it he will stay with you for hours.

In other news, the sparrow didn’t make it and died not long after my panicked post yesterday. ☹️

I had to have marmalade on both slices of my toast this morning because I couldn’t find the jam. We had a big shop on Saturday and the fridge is still at the Tetris stage. There’s no way I was unpacking it to look for jam.

Squirrel26 · 30/11/2020 11:02

I misread that as marmalade on both SIDES of your toast. Sounds messy.

Just spent about half an hour trying to remember Lisa Snowden’s surname. It’s Snowden. In case you were wondering.

Taswama · 30/11/2020 11:18

I bought myself a poinsettia and some lebkuchen on the way home from the school run.

What is a Alemanne @Prokupatuscrakedatus ?

Frownette · 30/11/2020 11:21

My soy sauce bottle broke and I had to carefully wipe soy sauce off a cucumber

Spudlet · 30/11/2020 12:05

Thought we were going to be late for school today but somehow we made in the nick of time. I’ve spent all morning trying to fill in a civil service job application. I did the first question, then found a pdf that made me realise I’d done it all wrong so I had to start all over again 🤦‍♀️ However, better now that after hitting send, and if I can get these written I should be able to reuse them for future applications as well. Got three of the four down, now stopping before my head explodes (and I need to go and collect the shopping anyway).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/11/2020 12:08

@Taswama
He's from the region that speaks an alemannic dialect same as Swiss-German. He learned High German at school from year 5 onwards.
My dialect is akin to Dutch.

Frownette · 30/11/2020 12:09

Application forms are painful.

I'm bored out of my brain here as I finished earlier than I thought so tapping my fingers til 2pm

MissConductUS · 30/11/2020 12:09

I'm taking a day of annual leave today, so home with the DC and cats. DH has just left for work. It's supposed to rain hard all day, so I suppose I'll stay home and try to get some organizing done.

I'm hoping this isn't too exciting, but I've just caught a squirrel trying to raid the bird feeder, but not having much luck. He's a bit portly, likely because he scavenges all of the seed that falls to the ground from the feeder.

In other news, I've just ordered a new 10" Kindle Fire tablet that's 42% off for Cyber Monday. I'm also trading in an old Kindle I have laying about for $15 and an additional 20% off the new one. Now I just have to box up the old one and take it to UPS, hopefully before the rain starts.

I’m in such a boring Teams meeting I want to switch my camera off and do the ironing, but I won’t be able to reach across quickly enough to unmute for the 2% of the time I’ll be required to contribute. This would have been the perfect time to write our Christmas cards, if only I had them in reach. 😕

SilkieCat · 30/11/2020 12:57

We are having the other half of the roast pork today with apple sauce and bread rolls, cat will be happy as DH didn't make enough yesterday to give her any. DH is having a nap.

I've booked the electrical work on our old house, we should now get a bill for 40% then get a date booked in then they do the work and we get the report and work done. Our survey is now on Wednesday.

SilkieCat · 30/11/2020 13:29

Started to smell the roast pork cooking then the cat was by the oven howling. I wonder what she could want. Hmm

Taswama · 30/11/2020 13:31

Is that down near Konstanz Prokupatus ? I worked in Friedrichshafen years ago and had to ask for colleagues to speak Hochdeutsch with me on occasion.

Champagneforeveryone · 30/11/2020 14:38

I'm at work. Everyone else is very busy - I'm not.

Squirrel26 · 30/11/2020 15:02

It’s 3pm and it’s getting dark. Sad Oh well. 23(?) days till the shortest day.

Trying to decide if I want to buy a carpet cleaner. I’d like to HAVE a carpet cleaner, but I’m finding the process of parting with the money and working out when I’d be in to have such a thing delivered a bit off putting.

MissConductUS · 30/11/2020 15:18

Squirrel26 Can you rent one? Some of the supermarkets here offer them for rental.

OP posts:
Squirrel26 · 30/11/2020 15:44

I could, @MissConductUS, and I have in the past, but it’s fairly expensive, and buying one would work out cheaper fairly quickly in terms of cost per use (plus ease of just getting it out of the cupboard vs getting in the car to pick it up!)

silkiecat · 30/11/2020 15:47

You can click and collect carpet cleaners from Currys.

DD and DS are home and DD is eating weetabix. DH is on a workcall.

Boredsilly · 30/11/2020 16:30

Finally started my Xmas shopping, I'm always a bit of a last minute shopper and say every year I'll start earlier - I never do!

forgetthehousework · 30/11/2020 16:35

Went to Asda this morning. I really should finish putting everything away.
I did the frozen and chilled stuff as soon as I got in, then sat down with a cup of coffee as a reward.
In hindsight this was probably a mistake.

BusyDreaming · 30/11/2020 16:39

I’ve been caught in the rain 3 times today.
So glad I washed my hair this morning.
The dogs are caked in mud and I’ve made a fairly half hearted attempt at cleaning them up.
I’m contemplating having a small sherry.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/11/2020 17:11

@Taswama Not quite that far down. He's from Karlsruhe.
But I had a project manager from a village on the Bodensee. I had to stare at his face if I wanted to understand him. He refused high german on principle. I got used to it.
