I'm still being braindead, aren't I Blush

I took that too literally! Ok so biccies, alcohol, inactivity

Nydj · 29/11/2020 15:46

It makes me feel better about quoting @SilkieCat instead of @MissConductUS in my earlier post 🤣🤣🤣

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 15:49

I did wonder why I was quoted but then I thought maybe you have chickens at the back of your garden and always wanted them at the front.

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 15:52

DS has gone to Sainsburys to collect my Sainsburys order - it contains a roast pork, pigs in blankets, cabbage, carrots and potatoes for a roast tonight and industrial quantities of cleaning products.

MissConductUS · 29/11/2020 16:16

I wondered about this. Smile

The cakiness of the brownies is determined by the ratio of flour to liquids in the batter. It's also possible that the flour you used has a different texture than the all-purpose flour I use. Next time, try a bit less flour and another 2 tablespoons of water in the melted butter.

@halfpasteleven His imagination has come on in leaps and bounds since he started school, but this morning was his best yet. Poor Santa and Rudolf Grin

DS, DH and DFiL have taken ddog for a walk, but I did a long run this morning so I’ve stayed at home and have some brownies in the oven now, as a direct result of this thread. And I’ve lit the fire again. So feeling very toasty. It’s dark here now though, so I hope the wanderers get home soon!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2020 16:47

@Nydj
This strange effect C. has on scales and hips is called a 'Coronawelle'.

DH finally started on his Limettenmarmelade (lime jam?). The whole place smells lovely. As long as he is in the kitchen, DD and I cannot bake. The kitchen is too small.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/11/2020 17:20

A DH who makes jam is a thing of beauty that I can only aspire to Grin

I'm back from work and very tired. DH is clattering about in the kitchen on the pretext of cooking dinner and DS is (predictably) playing guitar. I intend to potter off to my bed after dinner as my alarm goes off at 4.45am again tomorrow.

Nydj · 29/11/2020 17:27

In the interests of research, I tried a small square of brownie. It is so delicious!

Nydj · 29/11/2020 17:28

I love the idea of lime jam - unless it’s the same as lime marmalade in which case I am not so sure.

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 17:32

DH is taking a nap which is good as he's getting a tad grumpy again. I've had a lemon curd yoghurt and some rainbow drops, a vitamin tablet and a cup of tea.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2020 17:35

@Nydj
Is marmelade the same as Marmelade?
What is jam? Is jam Konfitüre? Help!

Anyway his - whatever it's called in English - are great - he thinks standing in the kitchen usually late at night is a relaxing break from writing.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/11/2020 17:47

Ooh, and I cannot give you cat in a box, but I can give you cat on a box.
This enormous box arrived, containing three dog balls (ChampagneCat was for scale Grin)

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 17:57

I would imagine Konfiture is jam as the French word confiture is jam.

www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/how_to_make_jam_75331

Jam is all different fruit types, strawberry maybe the most common here, marmalade tends to be orange or lemon here and has bits of rind (peel) in it.

NeonBella · 29/11/2020 18:11

I made tomato pasta for my dinner tonight and I put too much garlic in. Its inedible.
I'm hungry.

MissConductUS · 29/11/2020 18:12

Nydj - I'm so pleased the recipe came out well for you. It will get even better as you make your own adjustments to it. I've given it to enough MN'ers that it wouldn't surprise me to see it on one of the baking shows in five or ten years.

Champagneforeveryone It's hard to fathom why they used such an enormous box for three balls. ChampagneCat is looking regal as usual.

DH and DS are doing grilled chicken tonight with rice. I may make it three days in a row for an afternoon nap.

Just booked tickets to the safari park for the weekend after next. Told DS (ASD) and he said exactly what time will we return home? I said 2.30pm and that was fine. Hmm I looked it up and its 1 hour and 7 minutes each way so it maybe 2.44pm. I have pointed this out to DS and he seems happy with that.

EggyPegg · 29/11/2020 18:43

Oh ChampagneCat is absolutely gorgeous. Those eyes!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2020 19:48

@SilkieCat , @Nydj - you've made me investigate (I love words).
OK I've been to a website - technically in Germany only stuff made from citrus fruits is marmelade. Konfitüre is everything else.
Plus the fruit content of Konfitüre legally has to be much higher.
So DH made a marmelade with a fruit content so high, that it qualifies as Konfitüre extra.
And the word he uses is 'Schlecksl' bc he's Alemanne.

Therainisback · 29/11/2020 19:50

Did the bathroom. My ancient Christmas cactus which lives on the bathroom windowsill is in flower. I'm
toying with re-potting & dividing it when it finished flowering. The cactus may find that too exciting tthough.

Nydj · 29/11/2020 20:04

So it looks like he’s made marmalade and I am convinced I don’t like marmalade. But, and it is quite a significant ‘but’ I don’t recall ever having tasted it. So I may have to try some soon just get a justified and definitive position on whether or not I like the taste.
Whilst my views on lime jam/marmalade are very important - I hope everyone in the family enjoys the fruits of @Prokupatuscrakedatus’S DH Grin.

Frownette · 29/11/2020 20:09

I've just eaten one of those smoked cheeses shaped like a sausage

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 20:16

Dh told me he'ld cut the roast pork in half as it was 1.4kg and put half in the freezer. I pointed out that the cat would have had no issue eating 0.7kg by herself. Grin I'm not sure 0.7kg is very much between 3 of us (DD is vegan and also just got braces so can't eat very well) but I also got pigs in blankets. So should be OK. DH said do we want pigs in blankets tonight and DS pipes up yes the cat wants them all.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2020 20:23

Nydj
I respect your important views on fruit spreads and thank you for you good wishes Grin. DH has cleaned up after himself and gone back into his office to write sth.

halfpasteleven · 29/11/2020 22:35

@Prokupatuscrakedatus I think you are winning at having a DH that not only cooks (do you cook jam?!), but also cleans up after himself..!
My DP can't even clean up after making himself a cup of tea..

In other news I am about to get into a freshly laundered bed and I cannot wait.

@MissConductUS did you have that nap? Hope you had your three in a row..
