DS and I watched his Teams geography lesson together.

Champagneforeveryone · 18/11/2020 16:09

I took DDog3 for a walk when I went to pick DS up. It completely passed me by that the fields are always extremely busy at school pick up and drop off time, as people have the same idea as me. Normally I would take DDogs1 or 2 and there are no issues.

As DDog3 operates only on a scale between deep suspicion and uncontrolled fury around other dogs, it was not a restful experience.

EggyPegg · 18/11/2020 16:39

@Champagneforeveryone

I have more ironing to do, including a week of work shirts for me

DDogs1-3 are all asleep in front of the fire. ChampagneCat is watching the bird feeder cat television. DH and DS are out the house and it is as silent as the grave.

DS's electric drum kit arrived yesterday amid great excitement. With much trepidation I have just approached my wonderful and endlessly patient neighbours, who swear blind that they cannot hear it. I cannot imagine this is the case, but we have agreed on an early cut off time (for our sanity as much as theirs!) DH and I had considered buying a small token for them at Christmas with a note to thank them for being such good neighbours -I may make DS pay for it now Grin

Will do my Duolingo now to appease the owl.

DS1 has a full sized acoustic drum kit. I live in a terrace and regularly take chocolate based treats to my neighbours.

The children at my school learn on am electric kit. They plug headphones in. I work in the room directly across the corridor and all I hear is a gentle repetitive tap.

DS found the biggest fallen leaf I’ve ever seen in the woods today and brought it home. It’s seriously massive, probably pushing A4 sized 😯 He is also really starting to use his imagination now, he kept jumping off the path and shouting ‘Oh no, I’ve fallen into the river!’ He’s never really pretty played like that before, so it’s lovely.

He’s now watching CBeebies while I put my feet up. I have a lamb casserole on the hob for dinner - a new recipe I haven’t tried before. All the veg are homegrown, so feeling mildly good life-ish about it.

Spudlet · 18/11/2020 16:44

Not sure where that random ‘pretty’ came from Hmm

Boredsilly · 18/11/2020 16:50

Love this thread never read it before!

I'm currently sitting at my pc in my kitchen listening to the rain pouring down, my husband and daughter are snuggled up on the sofa watching a Harry Potter film, think I'll join them soon

EggyPegg · 18/11/2020 16:52

I am home. I discovered upon opening my Next parcel that they have decided to send my things separately, so I only have one of the two things I ordered and will have to make another trip to Next whenever my next one turns up.

Inspired by @soddingkitten, I bought DCat1 a hammock bed on my way back from Next. She initially hovered around near it, but when I stood near it too, she jumped into it. I gave her lots of positive reinforcement (read: fuss and snuggles) and she is now grooming, which is a sign that she's feeling relaxed somewhere. I have put towels on it that she's been sleeping on to help it feel familiar.

Please excuse the piles of Playmobil and Lego underneath.

DS was hovering. I asked him if he was hiding from his rabbit and he said no he's the most adorable fluffy creature why would you think that. I said as you are eating and rabbit likes to eat your food. And DS laughed and said yes after eights.

I asked him if he was looking forward to going back to school on Friday and he said yes. Drinking tea and had 3 Muller Corner yoghurts.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 18/11/2020 17:12

On the last thread I posted about my disappointment in discovering that the washing on the line had not dried. I am pleased to be able to report that I got the washing on the line by 8.30am this morning, and it was almost totally dry before it drizzled at 2pm. (The elasticated waistband on DS's jogging bottoms was still damp but its unbelievably thick and takes forever to dry even in summer.)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/11/2020 17:33

The zoom link worked and I had a lot of fun.
But I am back into being the structural help for DS - AS and ADHD is difficult to handle.

Should I eat a pear or cheese on toast or have another piece of DH's apple cake with cream and raisins? Or all of it?

MissConductUS · 18/11/2020 17:44

Cheese on toast, then apple cake for dessert.

I managed to get out for a quick walk and will now have the sandwich I brought in (roast beef on a roll with cheddar).

Hello and thank you, @MissConductUS for setting us up with this new thread.
After work this a afternoon, I met my sister for a walk. The forecast was for a dry day so, of course, it was drizzling when we set off but it soon stopped and we had a good walk.

whatsoccuringnow · 18/11/2020 18:22

Just finished dinner and waiting for a text to find out what time I am working tomorrow. I have defrosted some chicken then didn't use it, so it will go in the slow cooker tonight.

PersisFord · 18/11/2020 18:30

I am STARVING. I would eat the pear whilst waiting for the cheese on toast to cook, then the apple cake.

I am having a very stressful time for various reasons which I won’t sully the thread with. I really feel like baking bread to cheer myself up! But....I don’t need or really want bread to eat....

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/11/2020 18:47

Miss and Persis Thank you for your calm advize:

I opted for the apple cake and wanted to eat the pear but - DH decided to use up the open pack of hazelnuts while he was at it. So I substituted the pear for a piece of nut-cinammon cake.

MissConductUS · 18/11/2020 19:09

Hello @Nydj and you are most certainly welcome! I just wish the US presidential transition was as smooth as our thread transition. Grin

I hope you had a nice walk with your sister. I had time for a quick walk at lunch time. Wednesday is takeaway night chez Conduct, but I have yet to hear from DD what she fancies. I'm predicting Tex/Mex, but we'll see.

@PersisFord - I hope your external stress passes soon. You Brits should celebrate Thanksgiving. It's a very calming holiday.

Surely you could find some historical event to celebrate.

The next events for me:
29.11. is the first day of advent
4.12 is Barbara, the patron saint of miners
8.12 Maria Immaculata (hers not his)

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 18/11/2020 19:40

DH and I celebrated Thanksgiving in Miami many years ago. We had a magnificent Thanksgiving dinner and drank champagne. The next day we ignored Black Friday and had a day at the pool getting mojitos brought to our lounge chairs. Very relaxing indeed Smile

Squirrel26 · 18/11/2020 19:45

Hmm. We could all celebrate St Andrew's day on the 30th.

I don't know much about him though, even though I have Scottish relatives, so I couldn't say if he is particularly calming.

SilkieRabbits · 18/11/2020 20:04

We have a reference number at the solicitors.

We have a list of 12 questions to answer from buyers solicitor which I've answered.

We have contract and transfer deed to sign with an independent witness, this could be a bit of a challenge with covid rules not allowed inside and constant rain.

I'm going to have another pork and apple sausage sandwich for dinner and some pineapple juice. I really shouldn't but I'm struggling to care that I shouldn't. Grin

Drinking tea. Wondering who to ask to be independent witness. Neighbour would be easiest but she's 74 and not sure with covid though we could stay in our own gardens and swap over fence and maybe we could anti-bac wipe it first. Or drive to another family but then we'ld need to do that in the street 2 metres apart probably in the rain. Hmm

Lots of Americans will have Thanksgiving dinner at a nice hotel or restaurant as the meal is a lot of work to prepare, especially for a small group. Normally we'd go to DB's house and bring side dishes and pies so that SIL would only have to roast the turkey. This year it'll be a small ham, mac & cheese, glazed carrots and apple pie since it's just the four of us.

We truly have a lot to be thankful for given the annus horribilis it's been (full credit to HM the Queen for the Latin).

I'm glad you had a good experience of the holiday in Miami. Smile

Are you allowed to have someone witness it over Zoom? I think I remember reading that that was allowed in lockdown 1.0.

My food shop might arrive in 6 minutes. Or in an hour and 6 minutes. Or any time in between.

SilkieRabbits · 18/11/2020 20:31

No has to be in person. DH suggested we do it in front of the house but we have no front garden so that would be standing in the middle of the road to keep 2 metres away Hmm Not many cars here but still. Trouble is in our garden think the fence inbetween is 5 foot so hard to see someone signing unless one of us is on a step ladder. Grin

DH reckons his friend has a front garden, that sounds more viable for outside but its all a bit awkward with covid.

I witnessed legal documents for a friend and her husband at the weekend. It involved social distance, a clipboard, umbrellas and the bonnet of a car. We used the same pen and agreed we’d all have to wash our hands when we got home. Weird times.
