Washed DS2's trainers after a muddy run this morning. Was going to put them in the tumble drier but DP thinks that will shrink them so I am using the plug in shoe dryers. An awesome discovery that we first saw in Norway where it rains an awful lot.

soddingkitten · 28/11/2020 18:43

I need to know more about the heated shoe dryers. It rains a lot here too.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/11/2020 19:28

I went to the Bauhaus (diy shop not the institute) and saw those shoe dryers. They seem great but are not really needed for inner city Berlin. Smile

forgetthehousework · 28/11/2020 19:47

Finally had to throw away my favourite pair of boots.
They are totally worn out- lining, uppers, heels and leak so much that I might as well not bother having anything on my feet, but they have always been sooooo comfortable.
The moral of this is, obviously, always buy at least two pairs.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/11/2020 20:25

forgotten You are perfectly right, but they never have two pairs.
I managed to save my favourite pair (that is, the cobbler did), they are good for a couple of more years.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 28/11/2020 20:27

I want shoe dryers. My children are complete mud magnets.

My sister wants m&s light up gin for Christmas and I cannot find it anywhere.

DH bought me some dark chocolate and orange florentines. They are delicious.

SilkieCat · 28/11/2020 20:58

Ocado seems to have this but maybe different:

I've taken the decorations out - for sorting and mending.
A window star from DMil.

Bouledeneige · 28/11/2020 21:16

I visited my 90 year old Dad and he was fussing about his Christmas cards. Then I went on a drive to Goring on the Thames and walked for a while till it got dark.

halfpasteleven · 28/11/2020 22:34

There seems to be a few grumpy DHs on the thread this evening. I can confirm that my DP is also grumpy, for no particular reason. Or at least not one that he will admit to.
(And they say women are the moody ones!)

I'm loving the love for the naps on this thread -in Ireland we say "the two best cures for anything are a long sleep and a good laugh" and I feel there is a lot of truth in this.

MissConductUS · 29/11/2020 00:35

@Bouledeneige - Welcome and thanks for sharing your news. Did your dad want help sending out his cards?

halfpasteleven - I am glad to report that there are no grumpy DH's in this house, at least not tonight. I had another cracking nap this afternoon, almost two hours, so I'm raring to go. Unfortunately, it's past 2300 for you all and this is the time when MN hibernates, so I'll have to watch NCIS or something on Netflix now. And have some leftover apple pie of course. Grin

I have just had a 3.5 hour catch up with my best friend (who sadly lives far away). This was very good for my soul, and as usual we barely scratched the surface of things we needed to cover.

I did tell her about this thread though, and she agreed that it sounded wonderfully soothing, so she'll probably pop up on here soon

MissConductUS · 29/11/2020 01:01

That's great Eggy the more the merrier. 😀 Is your friend already a MN'er?

OP posts:
EggyPegg · 29/11/2020 01:12

She is. She likes a bit of AIBU for bedtime reading. But I don't know how much she posts. I've told her that she'll pick me out straightaway.

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 07:25

Just woken up - its so dark here not helped as had to still waiting for electrician here (our fault as DH double booked) and so no bedroom light and no date for electrician here though we have so many things booked which change date atm don't like to book him incase it all gets cancelled again. Plus we have to find a day to sort downstairs here and today is chicken house, Sainsburys and Sunday lunch day and in the week we already have two trips to old house booked and awaiting to hear from electrician for there.

DS tells me the silkie chickens do not care about darkness at all, not at all. DS has been giggling a lot to himself so far this morning and still giggling.

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 07:27

In other news Sainsburys have just messaged me to say they have swapped my almond and lychee shampoo for the same conditioner.

soddingkitten · 29/11/2020 08:35

Everyone is lying in, so I got up to feed Sodding and open the cat flap. I was rewarded for my troubles with purry cuddles and morning chatter.

DavetheCat2001 · 29/11/2020 08:37

I took ownership of a shiny new turntable on Friday.

I am a total record bore!

It is red, glossy and sounds amazing! 😍

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2020 09:15

DavetheCat2001 Looks great!
We no longer have a turntable (Plattenspieler) - but when we emptied DMil's flat we found the records DH bought in his youth (70ties) and transported them back home.

As it is Sunday all shops and non emergency services are closed (apart from restaurants, bakeries and flower shops).

DD made waffles for breakfast , we need to get a real iron.

MissConductUS · 29/11/2020 09:28

Welcome @DavetheCat2001 that's very stylish, thanks for sharing!

Sodding, how are you feeling this morning?

It's 1 degree here and I'm about to go running. This time I will not forget my cold weather socks.

The only thing better than a cat in a box is a cat in two boxes, especially when one of them is from your favorite online petfood retailer. Grin

Does Chewy.com operate in the UK?

Thanks for the welcome!

About to drag myself out of bed and go and make DC's pancakes for breakfast 🍳

Spudlet · 29/11/2020 09:48

The decorations are UP. It’s early, but I don’t care.

DS is currently playing with a reindeer and a set of Santa Russian dolls. The reindeer has just poohed on Santa, and Santa has poohed on the reindeer in retaliation. Apparently everyone is cross. Now the reindeer is eating Santa’s hat, and Santa is eating the reindeer’s ears Confused

Such a magical, special time of year 🙈

SilkieCat · 29/11/2020 09:56

Just had a scotch pancake and having a cup of tea.

Nice record player Davethecat Trust you have a cat and its compulsory to add pics on here. Grin

We don't have chewy here, the main chain pet store is PetsatHome I think. Cute cat is boxes though when you said the only thing better than a cat in a box is .. I was expecting 2 cats in a box though that probably wouldn't end well. Smile

DavetheCat2001 · 29/11/2020 10:05

@SilkieCat I am indeed a cat owner and obsessive! Dave was our lovely boy who sadly left us some years ago.. a prince amongst cats!

We now have Rosie.. who I have included a picture of.

She is a furry-bagpipe of a puss! 😻

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2020 10:05

A double boxed cat!!

Sev double boxed often - he also chewed the outside box and left box fluff everywhere.
