DS covid result is negative.
Even though I felt like it was only a tummy bug I'm glad I got the result to confirm my gut instinct.

Happy thanksgiving one and all. I'm thankful for my family being together and healthy today.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus that's not what you want to hear- I hope you're not too upset and that the op will be rescheduled asap for you.

SilkieCat · 26/11/2020 14:23

Sorry your op is cancelled Prok I didn't understand at first I thought you meant MN wouldn't let you be the OP on another thread. Confused

MissConductUS · 26/11/2020 14:58

Sodding Dcat Daisy loves butter too. If the butter dish is left out uncovered the butter will likely get licked. Pivot tables and v-lookups both give me a headache.

Sheusedtobesomeonelse I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving as well. You certainly understand the meaning of the holiday.

Prokupatuscrakedatus If they haven't given you a specific reason, like your surgeon being off sick, they've probably canceled any procedures that can be postponed to maximize hospital capacity for covid and influenza patients.

DS had two blueberry pancakes for breakfast and since mum the Thanksgiving elf was in the kitchen making bacon, left his dirty dishes on the counter for me her to wash. Smile

I’ve never heard of a pivot table. Is it like a balance board? Grin

Yes, that's it exactly. Grin

It's been cancelled bc no personel i.e. deployed or sick.
I'll be given the next available slot.
several of my project managers are relieved.

PawPawNoodle · 26/11/2020 15:45

I've booked something for Monday and was advised that I needed to send a fax or a letter to confirm. No email address available.

I travelled back in time to the 80s, dusted off my fax machine and fired off the confirmation. No response, says the fax machine. Being a child of the 90s I have no idea what this means and call back the organiser, who duly advises me that their fax machine isn't actually working and just to send it in the post.

So I've now sent it in the post and put my fax machine back into hibernation.

forgetthehousework · 26/11/2020 16:12

Sorry about the cancellation @Prokupatuscrakedatus.
It's quiet and peaceful here and delightfully unexciting.
I think we'll have ham omelette for tea.

Nydj · 26/11/2020 16:42

@Prokupatuscrakedatus, that’s so annoying. I hope you get a new date soon.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/11/2020 16:57

Thank you all - there is of course an upside: I do not need to cancel my dentist and hygienist appointment and I don't have to clear my desk at work.

DD and I have decided on an artificial christmas tree (DH is shocked), it has already arrived.

MissConductUS · 26/11/2020 17:00

I'm getting ingredients organized and recipes reviewed to start making Thanksgiving dinner. I've decided to try a new recipe for the carrots, with a honey and butter glaze. How can you go wrong with honey and butter?

This will be a pretty simple dinner, without a lot of work for me since DS and DH are making the mac and cheese.

We've all had iced cinnamon rolls from the posh bakery to tide us over until dinner, hopefully around 3:00. I've also gotten some Amish dinner rolls from there (made with mashed potatoes).

Prokupatuscrakedatus It is annoying to get rescheduled, but it's also better to wait until they are really ready for you.

Miss Yes, and ouf course my OP is not that urgent ( I felt worse when they interrupted my chemo of years ago)
And of course I do not now have to rush my christmas baking.

Your carrots sound delicious!

EggyPegg · 26/11/2020 17:12

I love that you actually still have a fax machine @PolPotNoodle.

In an attempt to stop EggyCat1 regurgitating her food several times a day, I moved the cats to premium dried food several days ago. It's clearly worked as there has been no vomit since the switch. However it has caused EggyCat2 to have such acidic farts, that I'm amazed that they don't burn on the way out. She especially likes to drop them as she walks over our laps to get to where she wants to sit.

I got headbutted in the eye socket at work today and have had a mild headache ever since.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/11/2020 17:15

I've been waiting for a parcel and the tracking claims that they attempted delivery yesterday. They didn't! There's no sign of them trying again today. Hmm

soddingkitten · 26/11/2020 17:16

I’m not a big fan of honey. Does maple syrup work on your carrots instead?

Prok - sorry to hear about your op. 😕

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/11/2020 17:17

I hope your headache gets better soon EggyPegg. Also hopefully EggyCat2's digestive system will adjust to the new food and have less bum smell.

Fatarseflanagan09 · 26/11/2020 17:25

I took the dog for a walk and he was an uncontrollable ignorant little bastard, my eyes are hurting and my sister is getting on my tits.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/11/2020 17:26

Blackamricano
DD yesterday observed a DHL delivery person:
They walked up to the door, rung a top floor bell, waited about half a second and then run back to their van.

Spudlet · 26/11/2020 17:32

@halfpasteleven Good news about the test! Hope your LO is on the mend soon.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Argh, so annoying when you’re all keyed up for something to happen. Hope you get rescheduled soon. You aren’t in pain while you wait, are you?

@Champagneforeveryone An epic trip indeed! Hope you took a snack in case of emergencies Grin

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate it! I’m not one of them, but right now I’m roasting my toes by the woodburner and feeling pretty thankful for that. 😊

teaandtoast49 · 26/11/2020 17:58

I am looking forward to a couple of glasses of wine tonight after what feels like a very long day Wink

WhenPushComesToShove · 26/11/2020 18:12

@Fatarseflanagan09 😂 he's not a dachshund is he by any chance?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/11/2020 18:13

Spudlet It's been painful for two years now - but on a normal level. Nothing to worry about.

It has stopped raining

EggyPegg · 26/11/2020 19:34

EggyCat1 just jumped up onto the table where I'm sat drinking tea, eating a Wispa and reading Mumsnet and tried to drink from a pint glass. But the last person to drink from it, drank too much, so she couldn't reach. Rather than discourage her, I just swapped the glasses round and gave her the fuller one. I believe I have made the complete transition to cat slave.

MissConductUS · 26/11/2020 19:42

@halfpasteleven Great news about your DS's test. Has he had stomach symptoms?

Sodding The ham and mac & cheese are in the oven. I have consulted with the master chief and sous chief (DH and DS) and they agree with your suggestion. Honey is out and maple syrup is in. I'll let you know how they come out.

I had a nap while DH and DS made the mac & cheese. Smile

Eggy Great picture. Yes, your transition is complete. The EggyCats are now your overlords.

Ooh lots of news today

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to my friends across the Atlantic. My little boy told me the story of thanksgiving today and we talked about what it means, and what we are thankful for.

I’m sorry about your operation @Prokupatuscrakedatus, that’s so frustrating!

I had lemon drizzle cake for pudding today. It was a bit stale so I poured a drop of milk on it and ate it with a spoon. DH was Shock - it’s one of those things that other families don’t do!
