I just spotted this photo on the meme thread..
made me smile and it seems there may well be some feline friends on this thread to whom it may apply!

Thank you all for your good wishes!

Eggy It's pronounced cats-kill. It's interesting how one mountain range has a very British name and the other an obvious Dutch name.

We are currently trying to schedule Zoom calls with everyone for tomorrow.

@halfpasteleven It is lovely there. That's Massachusetts Bay. The white house you see in the photo is a house the college purchased and turned into a student residence, and that's where he lived for his freshman year. There's a gorgeous white sand beach just past the house in the picture that also belongs to the college. The view of the Bay was better from his first dorm.

Made lasagne for tea as I was home (what a fatty meal).
Enough left for tomorrow or freezer. Suspect tomorrow.
Walked DGD (7) home after looking after her for the afternoon. She was convinced that Mars was Father Christmas. There were a few clouds moving which made it look as though the light was moving. She was so excited to be able to see him checking up on all the children, melted my heart.Smile

Therainisback · 25/11/2020 22:30

Faffy not fatty. Though it is quite fattyGrin

SilkieCat · 26/11/2020 04:00

I've been reading the electrical installation condition report just done for our old house and looking up the 18th version of the wiring regulations. I've woken up very early as its only 4am here.

Orthodontist x 2 today. Got a message from school saying another covid case at school and phoning parents but its y7 so we escape isolation.

HelenaJustina · 26/11/2020 06:43

I was roundly abused by a parent yesterday when they came to pick up their child (who had just been identified by the local PHE as a close contact) it was unpleasant but I tried to remember it was coming from a place of frustration and worry and not take it personally.
I turned the day around by running straight after work and thus buying time to make dinner for today for DC and for me and DH. So today will be better.
Though I need to do a food shop...

Spudlet · 26/11/2020 07:50

@HelenaJustina Sad Even though you know it isn’t personal, it’s still no fun to be the one getting it in the neck.

I managed to remember to take all my many vitamins and supplements this morning - I’ve forgotten the last couple of mornings and if I don’t take them at breakfast I hardly ever manage to remind myself to take them later in the day.

soddingkitten · 26/11/2020 08:11

A big Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends! We are thankful for your contributions.

sueelleker · 26/11/2020 08:14

@soddingkitten

If Krampus can take him away just long enough for us to eat Christmas dinner in peace (and then return him) I’m open to it.
If he's anything like our previous cats, you'll be hunched over your plates fending him off with your elbows.
sueelleker · 26/11/2020 08:18

Spudlet; would a plastic medicine box help? You could refill it once a week, and keep it by the kettle, or whatever you drink in the mornings.

Nydj · 26/11/2020 08:23

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!

Spudlet · 26/11/2020 09:31

@sueelleker They’re already out and in plain sight 😳 - they just get forgotten sometimes in the rush to get DS onto the loo (he’s a bit hit and miss with that still so we have a morning routine of sitting on the loo after he’s eaten) and then trying to insert him into his uniform, get the bike out, persuade him that gloves are sensible when it’s 1 degree, and also put some pants on myself (and other clothes too, ideally). Just a casualty of the usual morning chaos! But this morning I got them out straight away and put them by my plate rather than waiting until afterwards, so that helped. Will try to get into that habit. 👍

MissConductUS · 26/11/2020 09:33

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a cramp in my leg, doubtless from having spent so many hours driving yesterday. The kids made chocolate chip cookie dough after dinner, which is now in the fridge waiting baking. They left a bit of a mess in the kitchen for mum the Thanksgiving elves to clean up. It's cold and raining but I'm going out for a run anyway.

I am thankful for my little family being together, all healthy, that DH and I are still employed, and for all of the lovely people I've met on MN this year. In the word of the Dalai Lama “The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness.”

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone celebrating has a lovely day.

I have quite a lot of work to do. It’s all pretty mundane and unexciting.

Champagneforeveryone · 26/11/2020 10:58

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

I have approximately 1427 errands and odd jobs to do today, unfortunately for them I am still in bed MNing with ChampagneCat.

SilkieCat · 26/11/2020 11:46

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Grin Hope those who celebrate have lovely celebrations.

Children are now back at school after orthodontist. DD had braces fitted, DS (ASD) had top half of enhancer fitted and got upset so has an appointment in two weeks for bottom half to be fitted. DD's follow up is in January.

Electrician has been paid for EICR.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/11/2020 12:37

They just cancelled my OP.

Squirrel26 · 26/11/2020 12:49

Why have they done that, @Prokupatuscrakedatus?

In a meeting. Being shown a coronal reformatting of something-or-other (I’m not really involved in this bit. It’s all a bit over my head.)

soddingkitten · 26/11/2020 13:13

Laughing my head off again here. DH just recounted the story of toasting and buttering the last 2 slices of the good bread this morning for DS1’s beans on toast, turning back from the hob to find Sodding licking the buttered toast. Two minutes later Sodding takes a bite of the bread DH has just plated up for his lunch while DH is getting the butter out of the fridge. Cue swearing. Reader, I laughed out loud.

Sheusedtobesomeonelse · 26/11/2020 13:19

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Thanksgivers! Its such a lovely family having your family all togetherafter a wait - i am lucky enough to feel that every other friday evening when i pick up my 2 DDs after their week at Daddys.
Nothing like seeing the glass half full, it really is something i didn't appreciate before my divorce and have learnt how important it is.

Not much going on here today - my marmite delivery arrived this morning on time, i was a bit worried as last time i ordered some it never turned up and i had to wait for Amazon to look into it which was annoying! I have a small pot aside for these kind of emergency situations. Work is quiet, i think i have been forgotten (fingers crossed it stays this way tomorrow too..!).

Sheusedtobesomeonelse · 26/11/2020 13:24

Sodding deserves his own thread i think!!!

soddingkitten · 26/11/2020 13:45

I have spent the morning trying to work out why a pivot table is generating rubbish. In frustration I went back to the same damned thing that I produced last year and can now see that the data extract I was sent this year has one of the key fields in a completely different format so it’s not summing properly. I’m glad to have identified the problem but annoyed that it took me so long. At least I’m not going mad, which I had considered about an hour ago.

SilkieCat · 26/11/2020 13:53

Had macaroni cheese and smoked salmon for lunch, wasn't sure if it would go together but it was fine. DH is napping.

We had a very interesting conversation about the electrical condition report.

Champagneforeveryone · 26/11/2020 13:55

Argh no prokupatus Sad
Did they say when it might be rescheduled?

Champagneforeveryone · 26/11/2020 13:59

And I'm about to drive 26 miles to further investigate my new dog food.

This would normally be boring and uninteresting news, however after the past few months it feels like an expedition.
