@Squirrel26

I need something like The Twig, to thwart the dog. He’s always been surprisingly good with the real tree at my parent’s house, but I wouldn’t trust him alone with one while I’m at work.

Unfortunately trying to shop for Christmas decorations online has the same effect as when I try to shop for diy supplies - I can manage 5 minutes and then I get all stressed and can’t tell if I like yellow or if yellow is the worst colour in the world.

What about something like this? www.amazon.co.uk/Burwells-Tabletop-Christmas-Rustic-Vintage/dp/B082577PSC/ref=pd_lpo_201_t_0/258-4211452-8582749?psc=1&pf_rd_p=7b8e3b03-1439-4489-abd4-4a138cf4eca6&_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_wg=mAvPr&pf_rd_r=5FPP4AMRACFXJ9HH6NZK&pd_rd_i=B082577PSC&pd_rd_w=Zm9cH&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&refRID=5FPP4AMRACFXJ9HH6NZK&pd_rd_r=ba02e35a-13e9-44b1-a9bb-66152c7bb668

All these tails (dadabooom !)of cats nicking food reminds me of my first cat who used to love playing with frozen green beans and then eating them when defrosted!

Grey, damp and cooler today here, the only news today from here : I put some bright pink lipstick on to counter the greyness in my life. It wasn't a new one though, so suitbaly unexciting for the thread Smile

WhenPushComesToShove · 25/11/2020 15:36

Made a Christmas cake today; the first since I was at school back in the dark ages. I didn't have any plain lour, only self raising and now I have a dome shaped (very alcoholic) cake. The good news is I get to slice the top off and eat it! 👍

SilkieCat · 25/11/2020 15:40

DD said yesterday she caught the cat with back paws on top of piano, front paws on piano keys and her mouth on DS plate eating his sausage like she was attacking a wild animal. She's done that was sausage before she pounces on it and kills the sausage then shakes it in her mouth and eats it. We have to be suitably impressed by her sausage catching skills.

EggyPegg · 25/11/2020 16:11

That is a beautiful view @MissConductUS.

I'm drinking green tea with lemon and eating lemon curd on toast, so am making out on lemon. It is all very nice.

Spudlet · 25/11/2020 16:11

I am pooped. Did my workout, finished the advent calendar, took ddog for a walk with dh, packed the calendar up, biked down to collect ds and then came home via the village shop and post office, so we could send the parcel and buy some tortellini for dinner. Put the bikes away, scrubbed DS's coat clean (it was filthy after forest school yesterday and cycling in the rain today), got ds out of his uniform, and read with him. It doesn't sound too manic but my legs are so tired now 😳

Ds is now watching his tractor DVD while I have a snuggle with ddog and a cup of tea. It's only just gone 4 and it's dark already...

@MWNA good luck with the in house isolating!!

Nydj · 25/11/2020 17:48

Great photos, @MissConductUS! I used to feel so fizzy inside when DS came home from uni for holidays. It is a great feeling so I hope you are feeling the fizz to!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/11/2020 17:51

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

I love soddingkitten!
If we still did Santa he’d most definitely be on the naughty list. I don’t want to jinx things, but he doesn’t look to be the brightest Siamese we’ve had. I hope we soon reach the limits of his naughtiness. Previous ones would get in food cupboards and tip stuff all over floor, open doors and let the dog out, crack open supposedly cat proof hamster and mouse cages, steal food from other people’s homes and so on. Sodding started out so delightful but he’s been a nightmare the last week or so. Isn’t this how some people feel about their teenagers?
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/11/2020 20:24

Sodding is just in his terrible whatever the cat equvalent is for the threes in humans? Poor cat can't help it.
If he's put on the naughty list he'll be scolded by Knecht Ruprecht or worse taken away by Krampus.

soddingkitten · 25/11/2020 20:38

If Krampus can take him away just long enough for us to eat Christmas dinner in peace (and then return him) I’m open to it.

EggyPegg · 25/11/2020 21:17

I have the talent of killing plants. I'm not allowed to keep them anymore. I also can't grow anything. However, I do seem to be managing to grow something in the Schnecken tank...

Champagneforeveryone · 25/11/2020 21:19

I have spent the last couple of days researching raw feeding for DDogs. When DS was a baby I bought the Annabel Karmel books and cracked happily on with it. Raw feeding for dogs appears very confusing and I'm worried they will be lacking in some way. I suspect this probably speaks volumes about my maternal style.

We had chicken and stuffing rolls with plum chutney for dinner which was surprisingly very good.

I am going to put another load of laundry on and then retire to my boudoir.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/11/2020 21:27

@EggyPegg
They've either adopted you or they are sth from outer space ...
(Hopefully harmless für die Schneckerln - they look very fungal in which case most of them is below)

MissConductUS · 25/11/2020 21:38

We are home, tired knackered but safe and without incident. DS has settled into his cave until dinner, which will be pizza made by him and DH. Sorry I didn't post more pictures but I took over the driving shortly after taking that picture in the Berkshires. We also drove through part of the Catskill Mountains.

This morning we left so early we were able to take a very direct route and got up there way ahead of schedule. This afternoon the direct routes were jammed with people traveling for the holiday tomorrow that we took the much longer route through the mountains. It is a much nicer drive though, going through dairy farms and quaint villages along the way.

I'm so happy and thankful to have the whole family together again. Smile

Have a great time all of you!

EggyPegg · 25/11/2020 21:56

Welcome home @MissConductUS. How do you pronounce Catskill? Cats Kill or Cat Skill?

halfpasteleven · 25/11/2020 21:59

Thank you one and all for the good wishes for my DS. His temp is still up and down but not as high as last night thankfully. He has had his test and we are waiting on the results.
Personally I think it's a stomach bug.. time will tell..
@MissConductUS I'd love to go to college with a view like that. I miss the sea. It's v healing.
Hope you have a very happy first evening together.

PersisFord · 25/11/2020 22:01

I’m glad you are all together, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING for tomorrow!

I hope also that the Schnecken is safe with his tiny little alien friends.

I gave myself a pedicure tonight, and my feet are throbbing a bit! May have overdone it!

Good night everyone.
