In other news, I'm currently investigating a Body Shop order. I ordered some stuff online, never got an order confirmation or the actual order itself but they charged me for the stuff on my credit card.

It's been cold and sunny today, lovely.

Champagneforeveryone · 25/11/2020 02:56

@soddingkitten

Well, Sodding has outdone himself today. 🙄 I arrived home to a shredded bog roll on the dining room floor. This is a new ‘hobby’ and an annoying one. Looks like he had fun killing it but what mess! I’m getting an ominous feeling about putting up the Christmas tree.

I have put the breaded chicken and chips in the oven. No prizes for culinary excellence here today.

Ah sodding I feel your pain!

In preparation for this very problem now we have ChampagneCat (who is an utter hag) we have purchased The Twig. It covers two important points, firstly being less attractive to climb up she says hopefully and secondly a purchase from a small local business. I suppose it's also sustainable so three important points.

Champagneforeveryone · 25/11/2020 02:58

A picture of The Twig would help Grin

EggyPegg · 25/11/2020 06:24

The Twig is lovely @Champagneforeveryone. Will you decorate it?

@halfpasteleven I'm pleased to hear that his temperature is back down to normal, and I hope that you managed to have a restful rest of the night.

MWNA · 25/11/2020 06:34

My wife and 4 year old son are positive.
My 6 year old daughter and I are negative. It's hard for us trying to isolate from them with us all in the same house.
My eldest daughter (who lives a few streets away) is bringing us emergency Greggs today.

Champagneforeveryone · 25/11/2020 07:31

Good Lord yes eggy , The Twig will be a vision of naice and tasteful Christmas decorations.

Unless ChampagneCat has other ideas, in which case I may drape it in barbed wire.

I've just finished work and am at Sainsbury's. Although it's perfectly reasonable, I always chuckle to myself as I glide round the aisles with my beer bottles clinking merrily.

Spudlet · 25/11/2020 08:13

Oh nooooo @MWNA Sad Best wishes for a speedy recovery and hope the emergency Greggs helps!

halfpasteleven · 25/11/2020 08:35

My DS is now at a temp of 36.6. He's about to have some toast. That was a worrying tiring night but thank you for the good wishes. Waiting on a covid test time now.
Hope you

halfpasteleven · 25/11/2020 08:37

Sleepily hit the post button @MWNA I hope you enjoy the Greggs and that

halfpasteleven · 25/11/2020 08:39

Your wife and son get well very soon.

Enough posting now until I can do it properly!

Wishing everyone a peaceful kind of day.

soddingkitten · 25/11/2020 08:43

Sending wishes to the MWNA household for a speedy recovery. Glad to hear you have your priorities straight with the Greggs delivery.

Sounds like a plan. I’ve been debating with DH whether we use our artificial tree (light, easy to topple) or a real tree this year. Our last cat would gnaw on the lower branches of a real tree and leave puddles of pine-scented sick around the house. It’s a tough call. Our precious glass baubles will definitely stay boxed this year. Annoyingly, they are the nicest and most cheering ones.

MissConductUS · 25/11/2020 09:07

Good morning all, I think I'll be on the road to Boston in about an hour.

MWNA I hope you and your son recover soon. See below for something that might help.

I wanted to share this before I headed out. A common dietary supplement called quercetin is being studied as a early stage covid treatment.

A role for quercetin in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19)

It's widely available online or at chemists. It's early days from a research standpoint but it certain can't hurt to take it. I've ordered a bottle from amazon to have some in the house.

Morning! I remembered to clean my diffuser and bring it up to my home office. I'm diffusing lavender which I've been meaning to do for ages so I'm quite happy this morning!

Spudlet · 25/11/2020 09:26

Just back from the school run. It took a bit longer as I repositioned one of our bike lights to make it more visible once DS had been safely delivered. I now have very grubby gloves, but the light is definitely in a better position.

About to do a YouTube workout, except I sat down and now I’m having a snuggle with ddog instead. Oops. I have to crack on though so I can get that sorted and finish Dniece’s advent calendar. I thought I’d cracked it yesterday but because I was rushing I put the backing and wadding on the wrong way around, so the wadding ended up on the outside 🤦‍♀️ So now I have to unpick it and redo it 😳

Squirrel26 · 25/11/2020 09:36

I need something like The Twig, to thwart the dog. He’s always been surprisingly good with the real tree at my parent’s house, but I wouldn’t trust him alone with one while I’m at work.

Unfortunately trying to shop for Christmas decorations online has the same effect as when I try to shop for diy supplies - I can manage 5 minutes and then I get all stressed and can’t tell if I like yellow or if yellow is the worst colour in the world.

Nydj · 25/11/2020 12:33

@Squirrel26, I know next to nothing about pets but wouldn’t the twig be an invitation to dogs?
@halfpasteleven, I’m glad your DS’s temp came down and hope the test is negative.
I hope the @MWNA family make a good recovery from the dreaded lurgy.
@MissConductUS, please up date us if you can on your journey and successful collect of your DS - we could all go on a virtual road trip provided that nothing exciting happens, of course

Nydj · 25/11/2020 12:33

I am not getting into the swing of working today

MWNA · 25/11/2020 12:35

Thanks all for the kind wishes. We're coping surprisingly well.

Squirrel26 · 25/11/2020 13:05

He’s not mega twig-focused fortunately @Nydj. Too slow and not furry enough. Plus, if I get a small Twig-a-like I can put it somewhere high up and inaccessible. Grin

Nydj · 25/11/2020 13:07

That makes sense @Squirrel26

SilkieCat · 25/11/2020 13:09

Fingers and paws crossed for a negative covid test halfpasteleven

Hope your family are OK MWNA Emergency Greggs sounds good, I just looked up the menu - my DS loves their sausage rolls and suspect he would like the pigs in blankets baguette.

I'm just having a hot milk and awaiting jacket potatoes for lunch.

DD had a rant at me and banned me from posting on MN as apparently people will identify us so I named changed but doubt it will stop her stalking me.

SilkieCat · 25/11/2020 13:13

We got a local phone call this morning and immediately worried it was the school with a problem or the orthodontist cancelling. But it was just the orthodontist doing covid checks for tomorrow for both the kids.

DS normally stands in the rain instead of PE and school keep trying to find ways to get him inside. I asked him if he'ld like to do a maths exam for fun and he said I'ld love too so he's doing that instead of rain tomorrow. He knows how to have fun Grin

Old house has failed electrical checks so need to sort that. DS's bag has arrived for collection.

soddingkitten · 25/11/2020 13:51

Laughing my head off here. Just got back from a lunchtime walk and socially distanced coffee with a friend. DH was swearing, loudly. He took an important work call half way through making a tuna mayo sandwich, turned his back for 5 mins & Sodding ate the tuna mayo out his sandwich and was licking the mixing bowl clean when DH got back in reach.

SilkieCat · 25/11/2020 13:55

That was good of him to make soddingkitten a sandwich but really the bread isn't needed.

If we ever want something with tuna we have to go halves with the cat - she loves tuna in water best and the fishy water left in the tuna can and then refilled. Nothing like tuna water, well apart from lavender bath foam water.

soddingkitten · 25/11/2020 14:08

DH said he’d forgotten to give Sodding lunch, though I pointed out he had actually, just not the one he’d planned. I grabbed a pouch out of the cupboard without checking the contents and put it in Sodding’s bowl. Tuna! Sodding, more interested in licking the mixing bowl, ignored it. 🤷
