I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

MissConductUS
@Nydj On my way through the garage, I've checked our maple syrup inventory. It's quarts we get from BJ's, which is our local warehouse club and a direct competitor to Costco. If I recall correctly, we pay $14 per quart. How big are the Costco containers?

Inadvertently just looked it up online - we are working in litres here so I don’t know how it compares.

Baffled as to how ‘I’ turned into ‘inadvertently’!

soddingkitten · 24/11/2020 19:23

I looked up a quart yesterday. It was 900 and something ml. If it’s 2 pints, that’s 2 x 454ml, so 908ml? (I’m off to check. This imprecision is annoying me.)

soddingkitten · 24/11/2020 19:24

1 quart = 0.945 litre

Nydj · 24/11/2020 19:27

After a busy day at work, it is lovely to come to their thread and, in particular, to see that there have been positive updates about OP’s DD’s COVID test, a reminder of why sodding got his MN name, the men in high vis vests and, of course the floofy rug. Thank you everyone.

My contribution is that I made stir fry which didn’t taste as good as the last time.

Nydj · 24/11/2020 19:29

I had to google hanuta riegel - they look delicious!

PersisFord · 24/11/2020 19:32

I can’t decide whether to have leftover lasagna or leftover spaghetti bolognaise for supper.

@MissConductUS I am confused with the time, but have you collected your DS yet?

I think I will bring our tree indoors at the weekend. It’s the one we had last year and it has amazingly survived. Our outdoor lights, sadly, were a casualty of next door’s enthusiastic gardening and will need to be replaced.

HSingh · 24/11/2020 19:33

How many of you have lost some paperwork and trying to find it is like pushing water up hill. Wish I had stored it in a safe place!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/11/2020 19:37

Nydj They are - that's why we store them in DD room. She the adult one with self discipline.

SilkieRabbits · 24/11/2020 19:59

We are having pork and apple sausages, long brocolli and mashed potato for dinner.

MissConductUS · 24/11/2020 20:19

Nydj a liter is just a bit bigger than a quart. At 8.59 GBP you're getting it about $2 cheaper than I am. This is really not fair. Unfortunately, there's no Costco within a reasonable drive from me.

Sodding that nespresso machine is different from the ones I see here, which are made by Keurig. I've just check Amazon and you can get the Nespresso machines here, but the Keurigs are all I've ever seen in the US. We have one in our break room at work and I just bring in a thermos instead.

DH brought lebkuchen home from Aldi for me today. He also bought me six pairs of Christmas socks, three individual Christmas puddings, and a Christmas jumper. He's a keeper. The DC have been eyeing the lebkuchen. I am disinclined to share.

EggyCat1 has set up camp inside a bag. DH was about to flick the bag up in the air with his foot and catch it, but fortunately remembered to check for felines first. EggyCat2 has just meowed at the bag. She's not daft enough to stick her nose in because she knows she'll get a punch in the face.

Eggy, this is a very cat friendly carpet you have there, with lots of spots for cats to sit in.

Taswama · 24/11/2020 20:51

I don't eat mince pies before December (or at least advent), but I now really fancy some Lebkuchen!

MissConductUS · 24/11/2020 20:54

@PersisFord No, the big road trip starts at 0530 or thereabouts tomorrow. I'm wfh today. Sorry for any confusion.

We wanted to get him earlier but he's a residence assistant and has to be the last one out of his dorm.

@MissConductUS, I am not a member of Costco but I think they operate a pricing system like the US so there would be a 20%vat (like the sales tax in the US) on top of the advertised price - if that makes you feel any better?

Boredsilly · 24/11/2020 21:04

DD is starting football again next week, we found out today, she's very happy only been playing since August in the under 10s team but loves it. Took Gus out for his lunchtime walk, park to ourselves today which is better.

EggyPegg · 24/11/2020 21:06

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Indeed it is. And they always sit on the spots too. EggyCat1 particularly likes the black one just behind where EggyCat2 is sitting.

@Taswama. Not just any lebkuchen. Dark chocolate lebkuchen.

As predicted I ran 5k, did some washing & cooking, popped to my mum's and took her shopping, minded the grandchildren for the afternoon/early evening & am halfway down a bottle of wine & on Mumsnet.

I am still pondering the pebble pictures. I need 2 months off work, not 2 days Grin

Taswama · 24/11/2020 22:10

😋 @EggyPegg

halfpasteleven · 24/11/2020 22:37

My DS has a temp. (40.5)
Out of hours Doc says to keep him in a well ventilated room and give him calpol and nurofen. He is booked in for a COVID test tomorrow.
I'm here watching over him and this thread is keeping me sane.
His temp has come down to 38.1 thankfully. I'm hoping he has a good night and a negative result.

EggyPegg · 24/11/2020 22:39

Ooof, that's a high temperature @halfpasteleven. How's he doing with it?

MissConductUS · 24/11/2020 23:16

@halfpasteleven Any other symptoms? The nurofen likely reduced the fever.

OP posts:
halfpasteleven · 25/11/2020 02:31

@EggyPegg @MissConductUS
It's back down to 36.4 now.
It dropped gradually as the night went on.. He's fast asleep so here's hoping whatever it was is out of his system. He will still have to do his covid test but no other symptoms so hopefully this isn't COVID.
He woke there to go to the bathroom and seems to be much better in himself.

^^

I made this stir fry recipe for dinner. It was nice. I added broccoli, onion and red pepper as the veg.

Glad he's on the mend, @halfpasteleven
