I was going to hold off posting this until at least the 1st of next month, but I don’t care, I’m posting now Grin

Anyway, what are your favourite songs? Mine are:

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues/Kirsty MacColl

Merry Christmas everybody - Slade

I wish it could be Christmas everyday - Wizzard

Last Christmas - Wham

I have loads more but I’ll be here all day listing them Grin

Hark hear the bells, sweet silver bells, all seem to say throw cares away. Christmas is here, bringing good cheer, da da da da da, to young and old.

Whatever that song is called, that's my favourite.

CoronaIsWatching · 17/11/2020 20:20

Last Christmas

Jinglebellissimo · 17/11/2020 20:21

Fairytale of New York is my fave but (and think this is because of my age) I do love Mariah and East 17 - reminds me of being a teenager.

I love a Spaceman came Travelling, fairytale of NY, Driving Home for Christmas, but on Christmas eve/day I like the traditional carols, my favourite is O Holy Night

I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake

There was also a Phil Spector Christmas album with the Ronettes and others. Don't like the man but the songs are great.

Starburst8 · 17/11/2020 20:28

I love Christmas songs!
My all time favourite is O Holy Night.. I quite like the Carey Brothers version.
Others I like are:

River - Sarah McLachlan
Cold December Night - Michael Bauble.
Underneath the tree - Kelly Clarkson
Merry Christmas baby.

There's so many to choose from🙂

Fairytale of New York, for being the most honest about Christmas and what it is for too many people. RIP Kirsty McColl.

Walking in a winter wonderland.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Last Christmas.
Driving home for Christmas.

TheSilentStars · 17/11/2020 21:14

All of them and I'm holding off hitting my Spotify list but not sure I can hold out much longer.

Special mentions to David Essex Winter's Tale, which I just adore, and a few not exactly Christmassy, but because they were in the charts at Christmas always give me that buzz- East 17 Blush stay another day, Madonna Dear Jessie, Slade My oh My, Pretenders Hymn to Her.

Religious- I'm no church goer but O Little Town of Bethlehem and Once in Royal David's City can make me weep. (Unless Katharine Jenkins is slaughtering them)

Do they know it's Christmas? by Band Aid

Goodness knows how many times I listen to it each year but still absolutely love it!

It was important, so important at the time. I do it every year at school with my kids, far too young to remember of course, but they get it. They really do.

In Christmas morning we open presents with Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas album playing... I am pretty sure I am the only one that likes it,.but as I buy and wrap all presents and basically do the whole of Christmas, the I feel I have the right to inflict it on them!

Caselgarcia · 17/11/2020 21:24

Driving home for Christmas by Chris Rea. I remember listening to this while sitting in the reception of clift top resort in the Algarve. I was working there and was totally alone. Can remember it like yesterday eventhough it was 30 years ago.
