Wedding first dance songs.

Currently planning our wedding and wondering what people had as their first dance song?

We don't want anything too cheesy but are open to anything else. We can't dance though so it needs to be slow so we can sway.

Any suggestions?

How is your superiority helping the OP Rayna37? If you are too good for wedding songs don’t post on a thread about wedding songs.

@Rayna37

We didn't have one (a song or a first dance). It just felt absurd, I think most couples (bar teenagers) don't actually have "their song" and the whole thing just felt forced and unnecessary.
Bet you're fun at parties.

I'm pleased to see two people had "Baby I love you" by the Ramones - our first dance was "True Love Ways" by Buddy Holly but I walked down the Ilse to Baby I Love you by the Ramones ... and it was our second dance if there is such a thing!

We had "the One" by Kodaline

Statues by Foo Fighters

I think 'Strangers in the night' by Frank Sinatra would fit the bill..its a really nice pace to sway to, and theres a line about being lovers at first sight which fits your story!

Burning Love - Elvis Grin

We had Louis Armstrong La Vie En Rose...

We didn't have 'a song', our tastes are completely different. We came across it in the film Wall-E, our DSs fave film. I felt a bit sad that we didn't have a special song that was ours or I could attach certain memories to, but by being our wedding song, it became our song and now when I hear the start of the music I get goosebumps 😁

Let it be Me by the Everley Brothers. Nice words and very 'sway-able'. I wanted 'Who's Sorry Now' just to see my mum's faceGrin

Walked down the aisle to Pavarotti and Bryan Adam's All for love. First dance was Love is all around by Wet Wet Wet.

I'm not married anymore sadly. But I love Kodaline The One.

Wonderful world by Louis Armstrong

The first one that came into my head was "I can't dance' by Genesis! Sorry!

We went to four weddings one summer who had Perfect by Ed Sheeran...

The best first dances are the ones that get everyone else on the dance floor quickly.

@Rayna37 - well, we did think about starting the party by performing an interpretative dance, centred around the theme of our extensive stamp collection, to an accompaniment of Haiku poetry.

Then we decided that our guests would think we were insufferable wankers. And decided instead to have a "first dance" inspired by all those teenage weddings we have been to (particularly popular amongst younger teens, we found). I know.....its shocking!

Well....I have a daughter, and to celebrate us becoming a new little family, the second dance will be me, DP and DD. We have let her choose what she wants...so the Macarena it is! 😂

Beetles. Here there and everywhere I think it's called.

LadyLovelyLockz · 15/11/2020 23:55

We arent married, but if we did get married then it would be Sea of Love, the Cat Power version. Although I'm not sure it's a particularly danceable one!
