Wedding first dance songs.

Currently planning our wedding and wondering what people had as their first dance song?

We don't want anything too cheesy but are open to anything else. We can't dance though so it needs to be slow so we can sway.

Any suggestions?

We had truly madly deeply by savage garden

Stand by me- Ben E King

We had Flowers in the Window by Travis,

We are having eternal flame by Hayseed Dixie. Our favourite band and the song has importance too.

I ended up dancing to something a bit quicker but these are the slow ones I had on my shortlist:

We didn't have a song that was 'our song' for a first dance so looked through loads of suggestions and picked Ray Lamontage - You Are The Best Things which was perfect and not cheesy at all

(I'm not married, but this would be a lovely first dance)

That was ours too. ExH wanted don't want to miss a thing by Aerosmith. I didn't, thought it was too long. Couldn't decide on a song so the DJ chose for us

We had Many of Horror by Biffy Clyro. In hindsight, perhaps something more traditional like Lionel Ritchie might have been less weird for the guests 🤣

I had an acoustic version of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up by Hannah Trigwell.

My cousin had "I Belong to You" by Lenny Kravitz

My best friend had "Love Song" by The Cure

I thought they were lovely choices.

She moved through the fair. Without the verse about her dying 😆

500 miles by the Proclaimers. The band played it live. There was no slow dancing or swaying!!! We went nuts and it was such good fun.

Night and Day, the Frank Sinatra big band version

I Choose You - Sara Bareilles. My friend chose this for her first dance and it was amazing. Lovely song although potentially a bit tricky to dance to without practice (helps that friend is a professional dancer, as is her husband!)

We are having Kacey Musgraves, Butterflies. It summarised how I felt about my other half before we even got together and when I played it to him and asked for it to be our song he agreed. It’s about helping each other be better people and reach your potential and we have both supported each other through some significant life changes. Also will be a very easy “sway” as my other half has 2 left feet unless very drunk!
