I can't find a thread for this year's competition, and I'll never be able to get all the answers by myself. Please help! caboodle.nationalbooktokens.com/hiddenbooks/?competition=16

OP posts:
Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 13:13

I did not spot the mirror on the wall

RightOnTheEdge · 12/11/2020 13:14

Omg, Ive actually read the roommate one and only just got it 🤦‍♀️

CommunistLegoBloc · 12/11/2020 13:16

I've just got sunflowers. The writing in the bottom corner - translate it. It's not the best one they've ever done in terms of picture being relevant to the title tbh...

CommunistLegoBloc · 12/11/2020 13:17

@KiposWonderbeasts corgis belong to whom? Can you think of a fairly recent book with that title as the title, just made a little more cute sounding? One word.

THANK YOU!!!!

I swear I am tearing my hair out on some of these

bookworm14 · 12/11/2020 13:19

Some of the clues are quite poor this year and only tenuously relate to the book they’re supposed to be.

EzioAuditore · 12/11/2020 13:20

For the corgi, focus on the owner.

For the sunflowers, this was a lucky guess for me!But I got there by reasoning there are an awful lot of them and the clue's in the flower name.

There's writing?!
shumway · 12/11/2020 13:22

Thank you for the help - got thomas, roommate, corgi and frankenstein now. Funiculi, beef, bennett, tuesdays and sunflowers still baffling me.

Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 13:25

It's not a thousand suns what am I missing

Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 13:26

i was missing a word sorry

KiposWonderbeasts · 12/11/2020 13:27

Funiculi relates to time, and what's on the table outside

Beef is also doing my nut. It's not The Butcher nor The Butchers.

It's Beef, Record, Bennet and Tuesdays stumping me now, got the rest.

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 13:27

I’m clearly being dense but the coffee shop is nor producing anything other than ravings about opera and time and caffeine.

Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 13:27

try googling the cafe name it will take you on a bit of a journey to find the books name

steppemum · 12/11/2020 13:29

Oh so excited that this is here.

I only ever remember when I see the mn thread.

Right off to have a look.

Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 13:31

I'm still trying on the beef and lamb, the two hams, the three women sat, talking tuesdays, cereal stamper, Frankenstein ( he isn't chatting or speaking or talking)la jones vinyl and the bennett duck one.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/11/2020 13:32

Belated thank you to CommunistLegoBlock for the Hallowe'en one. I dredged it up from somewhere in the back of my mind! I was being too specific.

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 13:33

I nw know a lot more about Neapolitan song and Mount Vesuvius! But that’s it! Grin
onemouseplace · 12/11/2020 13:34

I'm stuck on talking tuesdays, bennett supplies and the 3 people sat one.

shumway · 12/11/2020 13:35

Clue for the ham - what is it in?

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 13:35

@Nousernameforme, it’s not Frankenstein (who was the doctor/creator), it’s Frankenstein’s ‘X’. And what he’s doing on the phone is key.

shumway · 12/11/2020 13:35

Clue for the cereal - serial.

KiposWonderbeasts · 12/11/2020 13:37

You’re nearly there - what, other than the ham, can you see in that picture? Then join the two words as one
TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 13:37

@shumway

Grin Thank you! That was actually pretty funny.

Agree with others that some of the clues aren’t as funny/sharp as previous years.

Saucery · 12/11/2020 13:37

If you weren’t calling the 3 women what they are labelled, what might you call them? Is the clue for that one.
