I finally got the station, but have not cracked the bookshop despite saying it out loud a lot!
Any hint for the station ?
Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 12:54

I've said the word roomate so many times in my head now it no longer has any meaning

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/11/2020 12:54

I was convinced that would be The Uncommon Reader (Alan Bennett) but it isn't. Sad

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/11/2020 12:55

(The one with the duck.)

Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 12:55

Bookshop actor just had a baby with katy perry

CommunistLegoBloc · 12/11/2020 12:55

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

Okay so Frankenstein's...what? And what's he doing?

It's a children's book Wink

The third word is the American term for what we could call a ‘railway’ — possibly archaic in the US now. The fact that this railway is not on the surface gives you the second word of the three-word title.

CommunistLegoBloc · 12/11/2020 12:56

@KiposWonderbeasts the station leads where? Have a look at the sign

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 12:56

Thanks, @KiposWonderbeasts — that’s one of the clues that only works if you have a particular accent!

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 12:57

Sorry, my last post was to @KiposWonderbeasts with a clue for the station.

Many thanks - I was overthinking it - thought it was probably Covent Garden from the number of steps to the tube so disappeared down that path for too long.
KiposWonderbeasts · 12/11/2020 13:02

How is the dog NOT "The Queen's Corgi"???

bookworm14 · 12/11/2020 13:03

I think that’s a film, not a book.

CommunistLegoBloc · 12/11/2020 13:04

The crown (and the monarch you refer to) help you with the title. The corgi itself is a motif from the book...

KiposWonderbeasts · 12/11/2020 13:05

@bookworm14

I think that’s a film, not a book.
It's a book too.
CaptainMyCaptain · 12/11/2020 13:06

I love these, thanks for the thread. That's my afternoon sorted, I'll catch up on the thread later.

shumway · 12/11/2020 13:07

I'm still stuck on funiculi, beef and lamb, thomas treasures, roommate, bennett, frankenstein, talking tuesdays, sunflowers, corgi.

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 13:11

@shumway, for Thomas Treasures, each window is a different book. For the right window, say what you see.

For the left, you need an old-fashioned word for what you see, and the colour is important. Also a current BBC serial, second part of a famous children’s three-book series.

shumway · 12/11/2020 13:11

Thank you!

CommunistLegoBloc · 12/11/2020 13:12

Thomas's Treasures - it's talking about a particular Thomas who doesn't feature in the title but is the main character in the book. And what are the treasures in the window?

I've given clues for the few of the others but I'm stuck on sunflowers, Bennett and Tuesdays

Beef and lamb are types of what? Where might you buy them? Title is two words.

Roommate one - if you occupy an apartment with another person, you might call the situation a ....
Extra clue: we tell children to ....... their toys with others

Funicular is a film too, and not a very well known book. I only knew it because I randomly read about it the other day, which isn't much help.

BlueEyeshadow · 12/11/2020 13:13

By the way, if it makes anyone feel better, I've seen publishers' social media people tweeting about how hard it is this year...

KiposWonderbeasts · 12/11/2020 13:13

@shumway

I'm still stuck on funiculi, beef and lamb, thomas treasures, roommate, bennett, frankenstein, talking tuesdays, sunflowers, corgi.
For Funiculli, look at the table out front, that's more important.

For Thomas's Treasures it's literally say what you see in ther window.

Can I remind everyone that it's NOT Frankenstein, Frankenstein was the mad scientist. This should help.

Beef and lamb, sunflowers, Bennet, Talking Tuesdays and corgi help would be much appreciated.
