Not really sure what the point of posting this is.

I just want a rant really.

Does anybody frequent the tattle forums? (Not sure if we're meant to actually talk about other forums on here?)

I'm quite frustrated with the mods. I replied to a particular on a particular thread for a young social media influencer weeks ago to say I didn't think it was constructive to call her ugly. I was banned from the site within minutes without warning.

I still have the odd lurk and have seen it's just happened to someone else on the same thread. This person pointed out it might be better to discuss her questionable actions and not the fact she's 'ugly with a flat arse, saggy boobs and a podgy stomach' and they were banned and their post removed.

Seems they love a pile on without letting anyone disagree!

Small boobs* sorry (and a saggy flat arse)

Sorry 3 posts in a row but I just need to correct myself. Doesn't appear the other user was banned but their post was removed

That site is vicious. You can say all sorts of vile things about social media people but you're now allowed to challenge anyone in the forum itself. No matter what they say

Brunt0n · 29/11/2020 09:18

I know who you are talking about and you were right to say what you did. That young woman has many flaws but picking on her body type is a bit shite

Meepmeeep · 29/11/2020 09:23

One thread I keep an eye on is ridiculous. They get offended when the subject of their post refers to the site as vile. They honestly see themselves as wonderful, nice, friendly people. Aye you sit there slagging off their teenage children’s appearances. So fucking nice - especially when one poster bleats on about being a teacher.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 09:24

Tattle is fascinating to read. But I wouldn’t ever want to post on there or get into conversation with people like that.

FizzyPink · 29/11/2020 09:25

That’s not been my experience at all. A couple of the threads I frequent are quite hot on not posting anything about their appearance but rather focusing on their questionable actions/lies. The only time I’ve seen people be sanctioned by Tattle is when they’ve admitted to sending people to Tattle from other sites and generally drawing attention to it which isn’t allowed.

However I’ve dipped into several threads which are truly awful and posters seem to just love to slag off the person in question.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 09:29

I think whenever the weekly ‘People on MN are really mean thread’ appears the OP should be directed to Tattle to compare and contrast.

CatherineSanderson · 29/11/2020 09:32

I’ve been on the site a few times but it’s really not a discussion forum, it’s like a hate forum where people say the most awful (and irrelevant) things they can think of. That’s all it’s about really, slagging people off. It’s just awful so I haven’t been back.

lemonsquashie · 29/11/2020 09:55

It's one thing to call people out for their behaviour: advertising standards etc. But to say they have saggy boobs or are overweight. And questioning parenting skills of some of the subjects. Gosh I felt like crap about myself after reading some of the comments

Meepmeeep · 29/11/2020 09:58

I just remembered, I have a colleague who would class as herself as an old family friend of a certain family who have a very long running thread. She doesn’t really know the wife who is ultimately the target but her kids went to school with the husband and have been friends since children. It’s quite shocking the lengths posters have gone to - requesting copies of birth certificates, posting enough info to make their address obvious enough to work out etc. I’m no fan of the wife and her blogging but do you really need to do all that?

cactusisblooming · 29/11/2020 10:00

Not my experience, I've reported quite a number of posts due to commenting inappropriately on children's looks or misogynist comments and they have been removed immediately. I love tattle, it opened my eyes up to influencers that I had no idea about. In saying that, I only occupy a few threads, I don't know who most of the people are.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 10:17

They absolutely hate the cleaning influencer.

lemonsquashie · 29/11/2020 10:50

They also hate that budget chef

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 10:55

Do they like anyone?

EleanorRising · 29/11/2020 12:07

Just wasted half an hour had a look. It's really unpleasant, isn't it?

Rhine · 29/11/2020 12:24

Tattle isn’t an unpleasant site at all. Most influencers are ridiculous and entitled and don’t live in the real world. They need calling out, especially when they get ‘gifted’ all sorts of stuff that us mortals can barely afford. I mean get a real job. I’ve not seen any personal attacks either, though I haven’t looked at every single thread. If you put your whole lives onto social media for the world to see, then I’m afraid you get what you deserve.

FizzyPink · 29/11/2020 12:32

Some threads are really quite unpleasant. However, as @Rhine says, there are a hell of a lot of influencers living out completely fake lives on Instagram which is what young girls are now growing up aspiring to.
There’s one in particular who I really can’t stand who portrays a luxury lifestyle pretending she lives in a mansion, stays in beautiful hotels and is 2-3 sizes smaller than she actually is.
In reality she lives in a 2 bedroom flat and everything she has is gifted. If you watch her videos every morning on Instagram, you will see the background warping where she’s got a filter on her face to make herself slimmer. The same on all of her photos, where she’s given herself a much smaller frame through editing apps. If you saw her in real life or other influencers photos you’d never recognise her.

This sort of behaviour really needs calling out.

questionn · 29/11/2020 13:03

I was pissing myself laughing on another thread about Greg Wallace looking like a thumb, is that inoffensive?

Rhine · 29/11/2020 13:10

@Sparklingbrook

Do they like anyone?
Yes, actually they like lots of people. They have Rave threads for people they like. The general discussion and advice forums are really nice and friendly and there is non of the judgement or lack of self awareness seen so often on mumsnet.
Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 13:21

@Rhine interesting. Which people?

Rhine · 29/11/2020 13:38
@Rhine interesting. Which people?
Lots of people. You could always go and have a look.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 13:39

I went to have a further look but they want me to disable my adblocker so that's not happening.

BlackPetunia · 29/11/2020 13:47

oh i dunno....opened my eyes about a certain single mum who worked part time and what was happening with a PayPal account she set up!!!

claire witt thread is full of tattlers defending her, not a hate fest at all
