Do you have a favourite hymn or hymns ?

I'm not remotely religious so asking this question probably makes me a hypocrite but anyway. Most of us were exposed to the rite-of-passage primary school dirges such as When A Knight Won His Spurs (I'm not sure that's even a hymn) and The Golden Cockerel but I'd be surprised if the likes of these featured in a Christian Church service. But, to answer my own question, I think Abide With Me is my favourite, followed closely by Morning Has Broken. I concede these might be popular choices but I don't know that many hymns to begin with Halo.

Hey, does anyone recall this?

I was as a 9-10 year old in a rural Wiltshire church choir, obvs CofE. 😂

Our vicar was a tiny bit 'mid' church, but not 'high' church. But we had a bit, in the middle of the service, where we had to chant something about believing in the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. At this point, we choristers had to turn to face the altar.

Then there was a sung bit, 'you alone are the holy one, you alone are the lord, you alone are the mist high ... (something else). Then some sung stuff about 'lord Jesus Christ, only son of the father.... you take away the sin of the Earth....' dum de dum de dum

A St Paul canticle? 😊

As you can see, great impact on me! Tho my bestie whose family were 'church' (mine absolutely weren't!) was seriously pissed of that I got lent a girls' cassock/hassock where she had a boys' one!

Lots of my favourites already mentioned, but my new favourite Christmas one is Noel by Chris Tomlin/Lauren Daigle

Miljea that's the Gloria, it's part of every Mass. You're describing saying the Creed then singing the Gloria.

There are lots of different settings (tunes) to the Gloria but the words are generally the same.
