It's approaching fast and people are asking what I'd like but I honestly don't know.

So inspire me please with what you received and loved, thank you.

A holiday in Spain.

Sparklingbrook · 10/11/2020 20:04

A couple of nights in London and a West End Show. No material goods.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 10/11/2020 20:04

A long weekend in Rome from DH.

I honestly can't remember anything else. I had a big party and quite an unexpected amount of presents - but I don't remember any of them particularly.

Daisy829 · 10/11/2020 20:04

A watch that I had wanted for over 10 years. I love it and wear it every day.

ifchocolatewerecelery · 10/11/2020 20:05

Fold up exercise bike and an echo show 8.

CarlottaValdez · 10/11/2020 20:06

A really nice pen!

CMOTDibbler · 10/11/2020 20:06

DH bought me a bike.

ginginchinchin · 10/11/2020 20:09

Loads of things with 40 on them. I was amazed at the lack of thought! Obviously everyone except me thought 40 was an extra special birthday that I'd want to be reminded of for ever and ever. I didn't.

feministbias · 10/11/2020 20:09

Vouchers for big shopping centre
Radley handbag

Spa day for me and 3 mates

Chewbecca · 10/11/2020 20:09

Posh shoes

Quornflakegirl · 10/11/2020 20:10

A bottle of perfume I requested. It was no different to any other birthday tbh.

crempog · 10/11/2020 20:12

Ooh what pen @CarlottaValdez? I love pens!

My holidays and spa day are on hold unfortunately.

I just turned 40 last week. I got 2 new handbags, necklaces x2, earrings, lots of scarves, some new clothes, books some houseplants and a big bunch of flowers. No big present and trips are all off due to covid

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/11/2020 20:13

I can't really remember. I know dd1 got me an amazing cheesecake as my birthday cake. That's as far as my memory goes. I must be properly obsessed with cake, 🍰

HRHPP · 10/11/2020 20:13

Cancer .

I had a cancer diagnosis just before my 40th which has changed my life and I have ongoing health issues which impact me every day .

I am still alive and will celebrate my 50th massively as my lifespan should be (relatively ) ok thankfully.

I think the best give is health and happiness and material stuff means fuck all .

A baby. DS was born three weeks beforehand.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 10/11/2020 20:15

Weekend away with my two closest friends, a clock (seriously, I love it but I know most people's mind don't automatically go to 'clocks' for birthday gifts), a bike and donations to a charity event I was doing on the bike. People also brought champagne, flowers and wee things - I specifically didn't want that which is why I asked for donations in the first place - but I had fun drinking it all up.

Bloodypunkrockers · 10/11/2020 20:15

Nothing. Recently single and no family. DD too young

It was miserable

Didiusfalco · 10/11/2020 20:15

A hoover. It was during lockdown. Still far better than the poster above who got cancer. Flowers for you HRHPP

superram · 10/11/2020 20:16

A ring and a trip to New York with dh who was 40 the previous year.

QueenMabby · 10/11/2020 20:16

A piano! Have always wanted to learn. Still haven’t four years later, but dd has just passed her grade 5 and I get enormous joy from listening to her play.

Purplecatshopaholic · 10/11/2020 20:17

Holiday in Paris. Loved it. Didn’t more yet more ‘stuff’

CommanderBurnham · 10/11/2020 20:17

My very first bike from DH and my first pet, a tortoise from my friends. Best presents ever.

I got lots of gin, jewellery, wine and other stuff. It doesn't matter what you get, as long as you feel loved.

BashfulClam · 10/11/2020 20:21

A holiday in Spain and an engraved necklace. DH got me as we got harried a month before his 40th.
