Anyone else slightly addicted to Pepsi Max

Slight newbie here, so apologies if I'm in the wrong forum!

My SO and I often go to a large supermarket-esque warehouse (unsure if I can say) and I've found myself each time buying an entire palette of Pepsi Max. I cannot help myself!

I feel some days i drink 3-4 cans of the fizzy pop. A couple of my friends drink a lot too. But is drinking Pepsi Max just a mum thing?!?! Confused

My son caught me with a multipack of 24 in my boot - found it embarrassing but I cannot recall a time when I didn't have a couple of bonus cans in my boot. Mums! Help me!

I'm not a mum but I am completely and utterly addicted! BlushGrin

StartingGrid · 07/11/2020 13:08

I am childless and still drink way too much of it if I have it in... so I just try not to buy it! Not what you wanted to hear probably Hmm

vodkaredbullgirl · 07/11/2020 13:10

Drinking one now.

For me it started back in the mists of time when my high school had a Pepsi max vending machine next to the chocolate vending machine in the hall. A can cost 35p. I am still addicted - it must have something in it. In fairness I stopped the habit during both pregnancies and while feeding but soon started up again once I became ‘normal’ again Grin

SpookyNoise · 07/11/2020 13:13

Yup. I really like it too.

And Irn Bru extra.

MadisonMontgomery · 07/11/2020 13:13

I love Pepsi Max, as do most of my family - any outsiders would think we were really weird as when we get together at Christmas etc we’re all sat with a can of it each 🙈

SmallHouse · 07/11/2020 13:15

What gets me, its not Diet Pepsi or normal Pepsi. It's specifically Pepsi Max!

If I do ever drink Coca Cola (not as much as I used to), I used to drink Diet Coke, maybe they're similar recipes!

@vodkaredbullgirl LOL! Your username would suggest something stronger Wink

I prefer it by far to the 'other' brand, I try not to buy it as I'm aware it's not good for you and I'll get through them quickly. So good ice cold.

vodkaredbullgirl · 07/11/2020 13:15

It has to be a can, not a bottle some how it tastes different. Got to be cold not warm either.

Ch3m · 07/11/2020 13:15

Yes, I'm absolutely addicted to Pepsi max. Try so hard not to drink it in front of the kids to set a good example but my 9 year old is well aware and often tells me how bad it is!

doctorhamster · 07/11/2020 13:16

Not Pepsi but Diet Coke. I limit myself to one a day but could happily drink 3.

vodkaredbullgirl · 07/11/2020 13:16

Oh and that too SmallHouse lol.

mrsswayze · 07/11/2020 13:17

No gives me horrific migraines must be the caffeine

Sparklingbrook · 07/11/2020 13:17

Diet Pepsi here. With ice and a straw. I bought myself 10 cans and having one a day. I bought some sparkling water as a replacement but it's not the same (obviously).

ThisMustBeMyDream · 07/11/2020 13:17

I loved it. Switched from drinking coca cola 8 years ago when I wanted to lose weight. Drank 2l a day.

I stopped completely over 2 months ago now. I assumed I was addicted. I wasn't. I didn't have any side effects from stopping. I wanted to see if it would help with my skin, and weight loss attempts. No real difference, but since I haven't missed it - I see no reason to start again. Saved myself £10 a week in the process!

Councilworker · 07/11/2020 13:18

Absolutely addicted to it. There was a shortage in 2018 due to a fire at a factory that make one of the ingredients and that was a DIFFICULT summer. I am well aware I have a problem and I really don't like to think what it's doing to my insides. A friend of mine was also addicted but hypnosis broke her addiction. Wondering if it's worth a shot.

SmallHouse · 07/11/2020 13:20

@vodkaredbullgirl YES! Always has to be a can. Why I go to the wholesaler! I never get the bottle even if its in the meal deal.

Anyone else join me in my secret boot stash? It takes up so much space in the fridge

Pepsi Max Cherry here - with the occasional ginger. Usually a can, although can manage quite happily with a large bottle too. I've having a break from all things sugar (and fake sugar) for a few days. Am on day 3. It's hard.

Fruitinator · 07/11/2020 13:22

Yep- Pepsi Max cherry it has to be fridge cold in a can. I don't have it every day, but I love it!

Janaih · 07/11/2020 13:23

The ginger one is lush, helps with hangover sickness Grin

I think my low point has been even though i get the cans. I have been known to buy the 2l bottles at full price! The horror!

Not even on discount.

I first tried a Pepsi max at work, I had a can out the vending machine and it was like a drug.
I haven't had a 'main' drink since then except this.

I don't know what it is but it is so addictive. I do buy the bottles though not the cans. Only bought the bottles of my partner is out and he decides to pick them up instead.

I am hoping to stop in the new year and start water. My skin isn't looking it's best, but I need a kick up the butt

SmallHouse · 07/11/2020 13:31

@kirktonhouse Best of luck! Is that a lockdown project! You have my support, don't know if I could bear to do it myself.

@Councilworker OH GOD I remember that! It was a big problem for KFC from memory

OP posts:
vanillandhoney · 07/11/2020 13:32

Yep, me! I love the new raspberry flavour too Grin

It used to be Diet Coke but I swear they've changed the recipe. It doesn't taste the same as it used to.

SweetMilkyFilth · 07/11/2020 13:32

I am a total cherry pepsi max addict. I try to limit myself to 2 cans a day but have drank 6 in a day before. My local supermarket is often sold out of the cans of cherry pm so I guess I'm not the only one! I don't really like it from bottle though.

I've tried to quit before but always give up after a week or so.
