Top or bottom kitchen?
Bottom is our current design, it's a laminate worktop but we have oak floors and oak internal doors through to the hallway and utility so I'm worried with the worktops it's too much different shades/tones of wood. Mumsnet pointed it out to me earlier and I'm wobbling now.

Top is the new design, it would be snowy Ibiza silestone quartz.

Which is better?

If anyone is awake please give me an opinion

I'm so stressed about a bloody work top choice that I'm still awake at 4am with a toddler due to wake up in 2 hours! What is wrong with me!!

Top.

Both look lovely but I absolutely love the crisp, clean look of the whiter shade.

Cric · 07/11/2020 03:52

They are both nice but I like the bottom most.

Top one is better with Oak floors I think.
Exciting to have new kitchen!

Cric · 07/11/2020 03:54

So far we haven't helped you.m, 2 different answers! My reason for the bottom was the warm tone the wooden top adds.... complete opposite reason to the other poster, it made me chuckle but doesn't help you!

LatteLover12 · 07/11/2020 03:55

I like the bottom one best ⭐️

The visualiser doesn't have the bright oak flooring we're using, so the floor will be brighter than in the photos. The internal doors a very similar shade. If that changes things! I'm so stuck.

Oh OP. I’m awake with a poorly 10 month old who funnily enough has been flat out the entire night since we decided she best come in with us tonight 🙄

YellowEllis · 07/11/2020 03:56

All mumsnet told me earlier was it's too much wood and that laminate work tops are awful so I found a upgrade we could afford spent an hour editing our tiles on to it to now hear the complete opposite Grin I'm going to have a mental breakdown before this kitchen is finished

I'd go for maintenance, OP. Which is easier to maintain and harder to damage?

PriceEmUp · 07/11/2020 03:57

Bugger mumsnet.

What do YOU want?

latulipe · 07/11/2020 03:57

Top!

redeyetonowheregood · 07/11/2020 03:59

Top for me. I find dark worktops show up every tiny speck of flour or dust and are tricky to keep clean. Plus I just like the bright crisp look.

Failing that, flip a coin and see if you're disappointed by or excited by the result.
josben · 07/11/2020 04:00

Both nice - but prefer top!

dangerrabbit · 07/11/2020 04:00

I prefer the bottom, fits the theme better

Cric · 07/11/2020 04:01

The coin flip idea is good... so that. You're getting a 50/50 response but most people are saying they like both and so you can't go wrong!

Shwighty1 · 07/11/2020 04:01

Top for me too, but it is your choice entirely

YellowEllis · 07/11/2020 04:02

I'm just frazzled with decisions! We've designed the rest of the house and I got on fine but I'm really struggling with the kitchen. The deadline to change was 5pm today but I've got them to give me until tomorrow lunch time Blush so I'm up all night editing tiles on... I'm just worried as we've seen the samples for the doors, floors and work tops separately, we won't get to see any of it together until it's too late! So essentially we could end up with 3 woods in the kitchen all different and possibly not complimentary. I like the idea of the top worktop as it's not laminate but silestone quartz and is more expensive so would be a nicer finish but I just don't want to see it all in real life and regret my decisions. Argh!!

Tearsfortiers · 07/11/2020 04:03

I have silestone worktops and they are the best worktops I've ever had. For that reason alone I would go with the upgraded option.

DramaAlpaca · 07/11/2020 04:04

I think I prefer the bottom one with the wood effect worktop. I like the contrast.

But I agree with a pp, which is easier to maintain, less likely to stain, warp or get damaged? And most importantly, because never mind what we all say you have to live with it, which do YOU like best?

YellowEllis · 07/11/2020 04:04

People saying about themes etc this is the visualiser off the website so not my kitchen. Ours is less country looking. Just a U shaped kitchen with breakfast bar. It's a kitchen diner and we'll have an oak table with stone coloured legs similar to the kitchen cupboards down the other end.

OP posts:
SummerSazz · 07/11/2020 04:05

Top

KerryMucklow · 07/11/2020 04:05

Go for quartz over laminate definitely if you can afford it - it will last so much longer and give a much nicer finish. Get a couple of samples of quartz, it comes in so many colours so you can look at light and dark options.
Kitchen looks lovely by the way!
