Top or bottom kitchen?
Bottom is our current design, it's a laminate worktop but we have oak floors and oak internal doors through to the hallway and utility so I'm worried with the worktops it's too much different shades/tones of wood. Mumsnet pointed it out to me earlier and I'm wobbling now.

Top is the new design, it would be snowy Ibiza silestone quartz.

Which is better?

@LaBodDelMed

Which one did you order?
We ordered the stone cupboards, Colmar oak worktops, white bevelled tiles with white grout and the ceramic double sink. We held off on ordering oak floor and have instead requested a few quotes for stone look LVT and tiling.

@YellowEllis

These are our cupboards and the snowy Ibiza quartz worktops together (not my kitchen, but ours is a similar shape)
Where are those cabinets from? I like them & the colour)

Kitchens are stressful.

Laminate is much cheaper. I like the wood. So I'd go with that. & resign myself to changing it to the quartz in future if I don't like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hence why I'm still in the middle of choosing my kitchen 🤦🏻‍♀️

@YellowEllis

Honestly I'm doubting everything! The kitchen was what I was most excited about and I don't like it. I just don't like my plan and I don't know what to change. Dh is getting annoyed and embarrassed at me wanting to go back and change everything but I just know in my gut that it's wrong.
Then STOP.

Tell DH to STFU

tell the kitchen company you're putting it on hold. It's too important & too expensive, not to get what you want.

If you can't afford the sink you'd like, looking at changing the worktops to quartz sounds madness to me!

What's the plan? To live there a few years or forever or to sell etc?

Good choices.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 07/11/2020 14:13

Oooh exciting!!!! It sounds lovely.

Can we PLEASE have some photos when it's in?

RuthW · 07/11/2020 14:15

Bottom

YellowEllis · 07/11/2020 14:19

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants The cupboards are Symphony kitchens, The Cranbrook in colour Stone

Our final design (not the professional images, I made these on paint 🤣) I know it looks a little boring but will have shelves and plants and appliances etc. It's just so much brighter which is what I wanted

God that plan looks crap but that's not our actual kitchen. Our actual kitchen is a U shaped one, it'll have an extractor fan with the tiling going up to the top there. The cupboards will have warm white spotlights under. There's no island but a breakfast bar and our American fridge freezer. Our nice double ceramic tap. Some small shelves and hanging plants. It really won't look as crap as that photo Blush

I think it's going to look FAB.

PLEASE post pictures when it's done!

Thanks re the Symphony kitchen message. I love the colour. I have been looking at getting my cabinets from DIY kitchens, but I like the look of yours. Off to have a look....

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 07/11/2020 16:03

I think the wood looks a lot nicer and warmer.

But then I am not one for everything matching, so the floor being different wouldn't bother me.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 07/11/2020 16:04

Also my laminate oak worktop is great!

LadyEloise · 07/11/2020 16:39

Top

Lovelynaughtycat · 07/11/2020 16:49

Definitely Top
It keeps the kitchen lighter/brighter.
Dark colours (bottom) draw it in and make it look smaller.

YellowEllis · 07/11/2020 19:21

These worktops, cabinets and tiles are the exact same as mine but they've left the wall above them white. I nicked their picture to use on a paint visualiser. I think I might paint above the tiles in this colour! It's all coming together in my head now Smile

That looks lovely, you'll have to post a before/after pic when you've had it done. 🙂

It is quite stressful, choosing kitchens & bathrooms - we did the bathroom earlier this year & I almost drove myself mad with it! 🤣

Blueberries0112 · 08/11/2020 01:06

I love it but my opinion don't matter, it's how you feel about it

Murinae · 08/11/2020 01:22

That paint colour looks like natural hessian

Poppyolive90 · 08/11/2020 01:45

I think the decisions you’ve settled on look great. I’m sure you’ll love it once it’s all in!

Top

Deathraystare · 08/11/2020 07:07

I say the top one. I agree with priceemup

It looks cleaner being all white (wooden tops remind me of school domestic science lessons!

Just got in to work but been up all night thanks to selfish flat mate who invited friends over (yes during lockdown!). We will have words when I get home!

Tamingofthehamster · 08/11/2020 07:13

Top but I would want to move the island over to the right a bit of space allows so the drawers are lined up with the extractor hood

itsgettingweird · 08/11/2020 07:18

Both look lovely.

I actually prefer the wooden top as defines the worktop.

You have a beautiful kitchen. Love those tiles - such a beautiful design.
