I'm watching the undoing on sky - what has Nicole Kidman done to her face ? I didn't recognise her .

She would have been better off putting her head in her hands in that scene rather than bulging eyeballs look.

Going to Google HH now Grin And then I'd better slather on some night cream Blush

It is a wig, she wore one in big littles lies and in most of her films. Looks at pap shots of the time she was filming and she has thin blond hair. Looks at her shots during lockdown with her husband - she has about a 10th of her hair. It’s well known she uses wigs , loads of actresses do. Her own hair is fine but nothing like her hair in this series

Doodar · 05/11/2020 23:58

If you’re a beautiful actress there’s so much pressure to stay perfect and beautiful. Actress’s not noted for their beauty, Julie Walters, Helen Mirren, Judy Dench etc have less pressure I think, and still get work.

almondfingers22 · 06/11/2020 00:17

Never thought Jennifer Anniston was beautiful. Attractive though.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 06/11/2020 00:27

I’ve just googled Helen Hunt in 2020 and I’m cross, because I’ve been told i look like her since the 1990”s (I do, v. similar type of face) but now I want to back away from the comparison.

I suppose I look like like the real middle-aged HH now, sans surgery. I think I prefer it.😂

AlwaysLatte · 06/11/2020 00:43

I absolutely love her hair. So luxurious!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 06/11/2020 00:49

She’s stunning. Obviously had some work done but still recognisable.

Bluntness100 · 06/11/2020 06:38

I’m not sure all of why Nicole looks great at the moment is actually about her face, I suspect her hair, and her figure account for a lot of it.

Her face looks fine and whatever work she’s had done, it’s been softened or she’s had it reversed as a few years back she was looking quite frozen and puffy, it’s much better now, she’s even got a few forehead wrinkles above her eye brows.

Hugh grant doesn’t look anywhere near as great next to her to be honest, she could certainly have been matched to someone younger and got away with it.

TweeBree · 06/11/2020 06:49

Nicole's husband, Keith Urban looks even worse. They did a joint interview on Fallon a while back and the top half of his face didn't move, just his mouth. It was freaky as hell.

ChrisChambersNeverMisses · 06/11/2020 06:52

I agree! She has had tons of Botox in the past but had toned it down in recent years. Watching her face in The Undoing- I just can't figure it out- her face just looks longer? She looks different!

Bluntness100 · 06/11/2020 07:11

Angelina has filler in her chin apparently. It keeps the jaw line smooth and hence why the lengthening, suspect the same with Nicole.

Aone · 06/11/2020 07:47

Great posture, great wigs, great clothes stylists on her TV shows. She also seems like a genuinely happy woman.

I love this video of her answering questions whilst wafting elegantly around her Australian home (we also get to see her real hair for those asking about wigs!)

problembottom · 06/11/2020 08:53

Nicole may look beautiful in a still photo but when you see someone who has had that much work done in real life, they don't look good. They don't look younger either, just odd.

banivani · 06/11/2020 09:05

It's obvious she's had work done, albeit very skillful work, but when I watched the Undoing I actually wondered if she was doing that thing I read that Helena Bonham Carter does, that is she let's up on the Botox before a job so her face can emote. Nicole seems more animated than on some previous occasions I've seen her on like, tv talk shows. She is still a bit stiff facially, but like PP wrote her forehead moves a bit and all. She's just on the right side of the line.

It feels like it's Hollywood based actresses mostly who get all the work done, I think it's so much the norm there that people become a little blinded to what normal looks like - it's normal there! I also do not blame women for feeling a sense of disconnect with their bodies as they age and want to stop time. Must be so much more acute when your body and face have been so visible and judged all your life. But it is a crying shame nonetheless. It impacts their acting ability a lot and frankly I think it subtly dehumanises them, apart from just depersonalising them. It makes it harder to connect with them on-screen for sure. I wish the tide would turn on this one. Jennifer Aniston is another case in point - she's a great comedic actress but when her face doesn't move naturally this is lost and it's such a terrible shame. :(

Delatron · 06/11/2020 09:19

I think pretty much every actress in Hollywood over the age of 40 has had some work done. (I heard Sarah Jessica Parker hadn’t but not sure that is still the case)
Many look amazing. Some take it a bit too far. It must be so hard being in the public eye. I don’t blame them at all.

I do think ‘work’ is getting better these days. Doctors are learning not to erase every line. To tone down the filler and just put it in strategic places.

IamEarthymama · 06/11/2020 09:26

Thank the Goddess for Alison Steadman in Life!
There's acting for you, she is wonderful.

However, I love the Undoing, all I do is ooh and ah about Nicole's clothes. Bugger her face, I love watching her walk around New York in autumnal velvet

Actually I am enjoying the story too, and I think Hugh Grant is just the guy for this character.

(I have only ever seen someone in real life who had so much surgery on their face. It was unbelievable, obviously not done by the same league of surgeon. Actually it made me feel very uncomfortable as,of course, you should ignore it but the person didn't really look... well, human anymore)

Valkadin · 06/11/2020 09:34

Reading this thread has reminded me of the comedy Death Becomes Her about the desire for youth and the madness that entails. Bruce Willis, Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep are the Milan actors in it plus Isabella Rossellini who is in my humble opinion one of the most beautiful women ever. Worth a watch.

Valkadin · 06/11/2020 09:34

Main nothing to do with Milan !

bluetongue · 06/11/2020 09:37

Jennifer Lopez looks pretty great for her age. Sure she’s had work of some kind done but it looks good.

As a woman in her mid fourties I get it and I’m just a civil servant, not a Hollywood star.

Samcro · 06/11/2020 09:44

she is lovely looking, but she has obviously had work done. Her and Kylie just look too
young for their age.

Minty82 · 06/11/2020 09:53

Oh this is sad. I can’t watch the series because we don’t have Sky, but it sounds like I would find the surgery-spotting too distracting anyway.

Livelovebehappy · 06/11/2020 09:55

I don’t see why some frown upon those who have work done on their face. It’s only the same as people dieting, exercising, wearing make up etc - it’s just wanting to feel and look good and give that bit of self confidence. I have Botox and am constantly told ‘why? You don’t need it’. But I have before and after pics, and I can see that i look a lot better with it. It’s all about personal choice. If people are lucky enough to be happy and confident with how they look, then good for them, but I can’t see how it hurts other people if others aren’t happy, and choose to have work done.

sleepwhenidie · 06/11/2020 09:55

A PP mentioned pressure on non A list actresses...this is the least of the problem. I happened to end up recently chatting to a person, in their mid twenties, who is a true current fashion darling. Lives between LA and London and was, with friend, laughing about so many of their friends of the same age who have already had surgery, fillers etc - quite terrifying to think how these kids will look in 20 years + Shock and the idea of this being expected for non-celebs is the really scary part Sad

ShrikeAttack · 06/11/2020 10:00

I actually think she looks pretty good, I think she's toned down the work and looks more natural than she did a while ago.

She always comes across very well in interviews and does seem very happy with her husband.

Much better than that weirdo Cruise!
