Ah I kept hoping this would happen to me a few months back and always kept my eye open for abandoned kittens in a certain area. No luck but in the end I bought a kitten from a breeder and I’m so happy! Cats are special!
Please update us OP when u can

Shirls22 · 07/11/2020 09:00

You can get a milk from the pet shops called lactol for very small kittens

CottonSock · 07/11/2020 09:01

I've been on mumsnet for years and never heard of the Korean lady thread..so I have learnt something new and a lot about kittens. Glad you found them..Looks like a lot of work to be a kitten mummy.

Missmonkeypenny · 07/11/2020 09:12

I will keep this thread updated as they grow Smile. I have some wormer coming today and a flea comb as I'm pretty sure they have fleas which is to be expected with stray/feral kittens. I've had a read and chat with cat protection lady again and she suggests a bath with washing up liquid to kill fleas and then comb through afterwards to remove any eggs or flea dirt so I'm sure that will be an experience!

Still no sign of mum at all. I haven't heard any cat noises or seen any trace of her so I think I just have to assume she's gone now and carry on raising them. It definitely is a very unexpected but lovely lockdown activity- I'm just glad I'm still on maternity leave so I can give them the time they need.

Maybe email work with photos of the new additions and see if your leave can be extended 😉

When you bathe them, put a ring of watered down washing up liquid (I used fairy original) round their neck first so the fleas cannot escape onto their heads. I also had a bowl under them with soapy water in it so any fleas that came off would drown. You may see the water runs a bit red, this is from the flea poo.

Have the heating on and hot water bottles ready, they need to be dried as soon as poss after the bath. When I did mine, I put the hot water bottle wrapped in a towel in a cat carrier basket and once I had towel dried as much as I could I put them in there and they were dry in around 10 minutes.

Have everything you need ready first.

Here is a video. www.kittenlady.org/fleas

Good Luck

I think it’s lovely you’re raising the kittens until you can find a suitable home, feel free to tell me to shut up if you already know this- I just wanted to mention that you do have to be careful around cat poo- especially stray cats when pregnant due to toxoplasmosis.

Ddot · 07/11/2020 10:37

More photos please, in need of cute fix

Ddot · 07/11/2020 10:41

Cat poo, wash hand after cleaning it up or wear gloves and wash hands. Dont eat it!

Connieston · 07/11/2020 10:41

I was going to say get them flea treated, feral cats and kittens are super magnets for fleas, sometimes hard to see especially on dark coats. You may need vet to give drops as normal doses might be far too strong. We got our vet to treat our feral kitten and after drops they were all dead in a couple of hours and she had the protection ongoing. Enjoy the snuggles!

Mamz · 07/11/2020 12:37

Hi, well done. I foster with my local Cats Protection and hand rear orphans. Frontline spray is the most suitable flea treatment for kittens this young. Pancur liquid wormer for 3 days, which will need to be repeated in 2 weeks. Kittens hate Pancur, don't be surprised if they flip out and froth at the mouth. Royal Canin kitten milk is complete with bottles and teats. Royal Canin Babycat biscuits always tempts my tinies to eat when they are ready. Teethh come in around 3-4 weeks, they start to use a litter tray independently around 3-4 weeks , their eyes are blue until approx 6 weeks, then start to change. On FB their is a page called the Kitten Lady who has some fab videos to help withh kittens. Good luck x

Keeping them until you find homes eh .....
(Bet you end up keeping them )Smile

They are gorgeous .

I did this when I found 3 kittens in a cupboard in a flat that had been abandoned. I already had 2 and mine didn't appreciate the extra feline company so I kept them to get them treated at vets , (all had cat flu) had them flead and wormed , got them spayed and then a local cat charity took them to rehome, al were within a week .

I'd have loved to have kept them . But I also had dogs and a myriad of adopted rodents .

Ddot · 07/11/2020 13:51

Fuckedandbombed your a bloody star.

GoldenGumballs · 07/11/2020 13:53

Hi if you have them registered at vets you can get frontline spray much less traumatic than bath. Also need kitten milk as in balanced milk again from vets or good sources. Cimicat a good one also can learn to lap this when weaning. Stick to vet recommendations rather than breeders/rescue, you can ring vets as often as you need they’ll be happy to guide.Sorry I just know what mixed messages breeders/rescue all give.(vet nurse)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/11/2020 14:08

What little toots. Do keep updating, OP.

TwinMama6 · 07/11/2020 14:39

TwinMama6 · 07/11/2020 14:40

Moppet
And Mittens 😊

Ddot · 07/11/2020 15:10

Bless

Missmonkeypenny · 07/11/2020 15:45

golden thank you for that advice, they didn't actually mind a bath but will try to get some spray! They're on the Lactol formula which is from birth.

My main issue is no poo still! Vet seemed unconcerned as apparently it can take a while for them to go if they've been underfed. Never wanted to see cat poo so much in my life Grin

We have not named them as of yet but DH has started making ' oh, this one is my favourite, I lile how it rolls over for a belly rub and purrs at me' noises...

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 07/11/2020 15:48

Awwwwwww DH is smitten.

They definitely need names! Otherwise how will they know which one of them you’re talking to...

(Also that way they can feel properly at home)

BIWI · 07/11/2020 15:49

@Trinidading3

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule What's with the Korean Lady comment?, Do not comment on Mumsnet if you are RACIST!! Keep it to your little racist self ! This world does not need people like you!
It refers to a very well-known MN thread which is, I think, now in Mumsnet Classics.

Nothing racist about it at all, so no need to bother your pretty little head about it Hmm

BIWI · 07/11/2020 15:55
