So, did you actually get any trick or treaters last night?

After being adamant we weren’t going to open the door, it wasn’t necessary anyway as no one knocked!

Usually we get quite a few children knocking, so I was surprised.

Either they only knocked on houses with pumpkins (something we all do around here), or there genuinely wasn’t anyone out last night.

How about you?

No.

Beamur · 01/11/2020 12:36

Not one. (It was blissfully quiet).
There were a few families out and a few houses had pumpkins, but my village is normally heaving with trick or treaters.

Ickabog · 01/11/2020 12:38

We didn't have any, and we decorated. There were people out on the streets, but since we didn't have any knocks I guess they were all being sensible and taking part in the pumpkin trail. I heard one dad telling his little girl to thank the pumpkins for the sweeties, which was adorable.

No. We did have a pumpkin but trick or treat was actively discouraged on local social media groups. Tier 1 area, would usually expect about 5 lots.

Cornishmendoitdrekkly · 01/11/2020 12:39

Nobody here. Thought the neighbour's grandchildren may have knocked so bought a tub of lollies just in case. Now they are looking at me so I may just have to give in and have one or two Halloween Wink

Hickorydickoryspock · 01/11/2020 12:40

No.
I did see a few driving back from the supermarket but it was when driving thru a tiny rural village so I cant imagine it did much harm. I cant be sure if they were even knocking on doors perhaps they were just going on a spooky walk.
No one knocked on my door anyway.

elliejjtiny · 01/11/2020 12:41

Nobody knocked at ours this year. But then nobody ever does as we are quite rural and there is only 1 other family on our road with young dc.

LBOCS2 · 01/11/2020 12:41

Nope, not one - we usually get loads.

WitchesSpelleas · 01/11/2020 12:41

No - we are in tier 3.

Justnormajean · 01/11/2020 12:44

Yes, and it was adorable. One group of little girls aged between 2 and 6, out with their dads of course, and all looked so cute.
But the sweetest part was they insisted on giving me little packets of haribo, as they were giving out the treats 😍

Soubriquet · 01/11/2020 12:44

I was tempted to take my two out but I’m glad I didn’t actually

Sounds like it would have been a lot of walking and sobs from me when no one answered their door.

We did a costumed Halloween hunt in the house where they had to find the next clue, Apple bobbing and some films and had a lovely night.

We also had intensities and brains for tea (spaghetti and meatballs)

Yes we had a few, and we went to a few friends houses, didn’t go in and they chucked my boys some sweets.

InTheCludgie · 01/11/2020 12:46

None at all. We usually get loads of groups of kids each year but not a single one. House decorated too

Justnormajean · 01/11/2020 12:46

Although on the other hand we were also egged by some little scrots later on that night, as came down stairs to an egged side window ( house on a corner road)

Ace1185 · 01/11/2020 12:46

No not a single one. Didn't even hear any on the street passing my living room

Thingybobbyboo · 01/11/2020 12:46

One. Just our neighbour this year. We usually get loads and there is a party atmosphere with all the kids in the village out dressed up. I missed it.

I also missed the Strictly Come Dancing Halloween 🎃 special!

Boo 👻

WisestIsShe · 01/11/2020 12:46

No, none here. Usually get a few.

Hockeyboysmum · 01/11/2020 12:48

Strictly didnt have halloween special- my son was gutted as he loves it

nosswith · 01/11/2020 12:49

None thankfully.

Pokerfaced · 01/11/2020 12:50

No. I did see a few families doing a 'spooky walk' in costume -- I think a lot of people here went with giving their children a sweet for each decorated house/pumpkin/dancing skeleton they spotted, or variations on that. We played hide and seek in the dark with torches.

Rockhopper81 · 01/11/2020 12:51

No, we didn't have any. We heard a few laughs of small children and adults outside, but no knocks on doors, so assume they were out looking for decorations to spot.

WindsorBlues · 01/11/2020 12:51

None - I did buy sweets in but at the last minute I decided that since I'm seven months pregnant I'm far more deserving of them than the trick or treaters. So we sat with the lights off so no one would know we where home 😂

badlydrawnbear · 01/11/2020 12:51

Yes! I didn't get home from work until nearly 10pm, but DH said there were 2 (2 groups or 2 individual kids?), which surprised us. He took DC out to do 'covid trick or treating' where you walk round and give your own DC sweets when you see other people's halloween decorations, and some people had left sweets out for DC to take.

CoronaIsWatching · 01/11/2020 12:52

We never get any anyway as I live in a detached house in the country

Sexnotgender · 01/11/2020 12:53

Nope not one. We usually get at least a dozen. Glad I didn’t buy anything.

It was also a revolting night last night, blowing a gale and belting with rain so that probably didn’t help.
